Cigar Dude Posted January 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2012 The Carnival website shows Winston's Cigar Bar on Atlantic Deck (on the Valor). Question: is this still a cigar bar or has Carnival changed it to something else? If this is not the cigar bar where is it on the ship?
Cruzface Posted January 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Pretty sure you can only smoke cigars in the newly restricted smoking areas. Real bummer as I used to love a cigar in the cigar lounge while listening to the band in there.
grooks Posted January 27, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Carnival's deck plan still shows the Cigar Bar so I imagine it is still exists and you can still smoke in there. You can walk Deck 5 (Promenade) all the way to the back and just before the aft lounge take the stair down one flight and it should be right outside the 2nd level of the aft restaurant. Any aft elevator should take you to Deck 4. I believe you have to walk through the Cigar Bar to get to the Internet Cafe or they are right next door to each other. Question: is this still a cigar bar or has Carnival changed it to something else? If this is not the cigar bar where is it on the ship? There no longer are any cigar bars on any Carnival ships... bummer... :( Effective June 15, 2011, cigarette smoking in public venues will only be permitted in Carnival’s dance clubs as well as in designated areas within the casino and casino bar. Smoking (including cigars) will be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas (starboard side) of all our ships. Additionally, smoking will also be allowed in the jazz clubs of the following ships: Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Pride, Carnival Legend, Carnival Miracle, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Valor, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Freedom, and Carnival Splendor. * All Spa suites and staterooms, inclusive of the balconies, are an entirely smoke-free environment. * Effective December 1, 2011, smoking will be prohibited in all guest staterooms. Guests in balcony staterooms may smoke (including cigars) outside on their balcony. Guests who smoke in their staterooms will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival’s ticket contract. Note: Electronic cigarettes or e-cigarettes are only allowed in the designated smoking areas. http://www.carnival.com/core/faq.aspx?icid=CC_Header_466#q-544913

big_duck Posted January 27, 2012 #8 Share Posted January 27, 2012 Well, that sucks. So, where is the designated bar or club for cigars now? Yup, now we are in a much smaller area with poorer ventilation and no nice comfy chairs.
MiamiSpartan Posted January 27, 2012 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2012 One of my great pleasures about cruising is enjoying a cigar or two to end my day.... It sucks that the only places to smoke on most ships is outside, since it does tend to be breezy there and tough to get a light...(duh..) I'm wondering about smoking on the MSC, ships since it is more geared towards Europeans.....

MSC's smoking policy is very much like Carnival's with the exception that smoking is not permitted on balconies... :)
