Rental Car Pick Up at Copenhagen Oceankaj

Recommended Posts

We'll be disembarking from a cruise at Copenhagen Oceankaj and are planning to rent a car to explore North Zealand before staying overnight near Kastrup airport. One of the rental car companies offers a car delivery option where they bring the rental car to the Oceankaj cruise terminal for pick up. Has anyone done that and if so, did your experience go smoothly? I'm in the process of finding out where we would pick up at Oceankaj and am not sure whether the drive out of Copenhagen is straightforward. The other option would be to pick up at the airport and go from there. Any insights are appreciated and thanks for your help!

If its this year it can get a little bit tricky to find the motorway as you need to go through the Østerbro district.

But It's not difficult to find the motorway as long as you follow your GPS.

But by the end of the year a new motorway tunnel will open and it goes almost directly from the port to the motorway.

When heading from Northern Zealand to Kastrup you just bypass Copenhagen by using the M3 motorway.

Thanks so much for your reply, Danish Viking. Your insights are always greatly appreciated. We'll be renting the car this year in September. Our ship will be returning to the Oceankaj cruise terminal on Saturday morning. Not sure if that will make driving easier or not, though. From what you've said, access to a good GPS will be a must. Thanks again!

Yes because you will have to drive through city streets in order to reach the Lyngbyvej motorway.

There is also another route through Hellerup that's a more relaxing drive through the suburbs but it will take a a few minutes more.

Your detailed insights are greatly appreciated, Danish viking! We may just take a cab from Oceankaj to the airport and then pick up the car there. We're trying to figure it out now. Since we just have carry on luggage, we should be able to be one of the first ones off the ship. Hopefully there will be plenty of cabs at Oceankaj around 9-9:30 a.m. on a Saturday. Thanks again for all your help!
