Just off the Carnival Fantasy...any questions?

Recommended Posts

We loved the food in the MDR. I really prefer the old menu I think. I also liked the tablecloths every night; it was a nice touch. We did excursions through Carnival at both ports. In Costa Maya, we did the Chacchoben ruins which was nice. Our guide was super friendly and informative. It was extremely hot though (about 96F). In Cozumel, we went to Passion Island and we enjoyed that as well. It was all inclusive and we didn't go hungry (or thirsty).

How was the food in the MDR? Did you do any port excursions?

The food was ok to me. I tried a little of everything and if i didnt like it, they got me something i did like. We did the Catamaran snorkel in Costa Maya ( it was ok, but dont eat at restaurant with the free pool. ) as you come off dock entering the shopping there is a pool area free with bar and restaurant. TERRRIBLE food and for one small guacamole dip with chips was $17 and hubby ordered chicken tacos and they were $17 . Only thing on them was chicken a little cheese and no salsa. PLAIN TERRIBLE. Cozumel was AMAZING, WE choose to not do excursion through carnival and book a private driver through TOURS PLAZA. $107 for 3 hrs and that covers 5 people . $25 for each hr over that. He took us all over Cozumel and it was over 3 hrs but well worth it.

Smoke: the smoke smell was noticeable on deck 9 but far less noticeable than the casino deck on the Freedom. I didn't notice the smoke smell except in and around the casino. On the Freedom, the whole ship smelled smoky.

Wifi: I bought the value package. Others in my group bought social media. Both packages worked fine the first day at sea but past that was very spotty at best. It was $48 for value and $22 for social for the 5 day cruise. If I had to do it again, I'd just buy the social plan as I went. We had cell service until about 8-9pm on the first day.

MDR: We really enjoyed the MDR. I'm glad they still use the old menus because it was something different we'd never had. I did miss the "port of call" option however

I would also like to know if you found the casino area smoky. My last cruise on the Fantasy was about 8 years ago and there was so much smoke in there - it even was a little smoky on the Promenade area outside where the casino is.

  • 2 months later...

I was on the Fantasy last Dec.

1. If it's cold outside, it's cold inside. the rooms have no heat. That is just a Dec/Jan issue. Muster drill was very cold.

2.Smokey smells around the casino and bar. But that is where the best live music is there you go.

3. Parking in Mobile was straight forward, but the little pay kiosks were off putting.

4. Food: oh my. Throw the diet out the door. Guy's was great burgers, but the fries are even better.

5. Returning to Mobile, the fog was so thick you couldn't see the water from deck. they couldn't get the gangway mounted proper so we sat around an extra hour or more until getting off the boat. Again, the parking lot cleared out fast.

6. Will I go again? Heck yes.

How was Parking at embarkation? Was it a long line to get in? Thanks.

I'd like to know that too. What time did you get there? Did you have to park in the overflow lot? (We're hoping to get there early enough to avoid the overflow lot but late enough to avoid the long traffic lines.)

Also, how comfortable were the mattresses?

Thanks

We sailed the Fantasy last week. The temp was nice and cool in the cabin and around the ship. I never felt warm or hot any where, which is something I cannot say when we sailed the Breeze 3 months ago. Our Fantasy cabin had no thermostat, but there was a vent that could be manually opened or shut as you liked.
