Shopping in port

We have 4 port stops this cruise and don't see any excursions that interest us here, so we are just looking to do a little shopping. What kind of shops are in the gated area? Also, I have read there is a Belize sign near the area. Is this walkable and safe?

Standard cruise port shops some local boutiques, a small chocolate factory place, and a few restaurants and bars of which the Wet Lizard is most popular. For local produced items at lower prices,go outside the complex to the flea market across the road. For the new Belize sign, once outside the complex,turn right and walllk around toward the lighthouse. This is new sine I was there last but reported that you can see it from the tender coming in. Sit on the right side of the tender.
