movingimages Posted November 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted November 26, 2016 First time in Mexican Riviera. December. We will be in PV from 9-9. Our Rhythms of the Night excursion begins at 3:15. Looking for ideas for the morning. Would it be warm enough to swim / snorkel in a.m.? Or best to just explore the port? If so, ideas for some local flavor / culture for about 3 hours? Thanks, in advance, for any suggestions.

Sacto Rick Posted November 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted November 27, 2016 We had an awesome excursion to Las Caletas. I think you would enjoy it. They put out an excellent lunch buffet and they have snorkel equipment, stand up paddle boards and kayaks. There are floating rafts anchored out with hammochs you can relax on and they also have plenty of beach loungers and double hammocks for you. It's a fun place. Las Caletas indeed is very nice, but it is the same place where the poster will go for Rhytm of the nights. That would mean he would need to sail to/from Caletas and shortly thereafter again to/from Rhytm.

They were getting ready for it when we left our beach day there. They set hundreds of candles out to light the paths. It's pretty cool. Ine Posted November 29, 2016 #8 Share Posted November 29, 2016 Will $$ be okay for transportation or pesos needed? Any idea of the general cost for cab / bus? Thanks for your comments. Yes US$ will be o.k. Citybus will cost 7,50 Pesos per person per ride., At the moment you will get between 15 and 20 Pesos for 1 US$. Donot expect change in US$ however, only in Pesos. Take the blue/white bus that says Olas Altas or Centro on the windscreen. (Not the one with Tunel!). Get off at the northern part of the Malecon near Hotel Rosita or any stop thereafter till Plaza Lazaro Cardenas. On the way back the blue/white bus that has Walmart/Sams or aeropuerto on the screen. Check maps here: http://vallartainfo.com/downtown-map/ http://vallartainfo.com/south-side-map/ and a lot more info on that website. There will be beige coloured cabs at the port, they will charge about US$ 5,- per person per ride. However they cannot bring you back to the port. On the highway or near the Pemex gassstation you will see yellow cabs. They might charge around Pesos 100,- for the ride one way. Always make your price before entering the cab. On the way back you will plenty plenty of cabs around. have a great day.
