October Car Hire Options

Recommended Posts

We'll be on the Golden Princess RT Sydney Oct 15-Oct 25. We're staying a couple of nights pre cruise, and I think we have that figured out. After the cruise, however, we plan on hiring a car and driving to Murramarang Beachfront Nature Resort for 3 nights, then leisurely driving back to Sydney on Oct 28, staying there 2 nights, then flying home to California the morning of Oct 30 (from Sydney).

We're not sure what the best scenario is for the car, or the Sydney hotel at the end of our trip. Would we be better off taking a taxi to the airport when we get off the cruise ship and pick up the car there, for easy return when we fly home on Oct 30? Or, would we be better off picking up a car closer to the ship then returning it to the car place the day before we fly home.

Your thoughts? (I hope this all makes sense)

You're able to collect and return the car at different depots. So you could collect it from a city location nearer the ship, and then return it to the airport location at the end.

Obviously the company you rent from must have a depot in both locations but you can easily look this up online.

Google Vroom Vroom Vroom and check out their website. It allows you to compare the major car rental agencies, all of their options/prices and you can even book and cancel to your heart's content.

awesome, thanks!

Depending where you're staying you may find it easier returning the car when you get back to Sydney. Most tourists stay in the city which is well served by public transport, and/or walkable, esp to most major tourist choices. Having a car while in the city will typically be much more costly without much benefit.

Hadn't thought of that. Makes sense, though.
