Vibrantvirgo81 Posted September 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2016 I know this may be hard to answer but how strong are the drinks on the ship? I have a feeling they are pretty weak, am I right? I don't drink often and it typically takes me 1-2 drinks to get buzzed. Anyone else the same who can help me judge? kat001971 Posted September 24, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 24, 2016 Are you asking to gage the number of drinks you may drink in a day? Depends on the bartender. If you find a great bartender and slip them a little extra they will pour super heavy. I haven't run into one yet where they pour light to save the alcohol. We hardly ever drink unless we are cruising. On days at sea, I've come close to the 15 drink limit. There are so many yummy concoctions to try. Vibrantvirgo81 Posted September 24, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted September 24, 2016 Yes, I'm trying to decide how many I may drink and if it'll be worth it. I was thinking they may pour light. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
kat001971 Posted September 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2016 If you drink more than 5 a day, it's worth it. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
srlafleur Posted September 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 24, 2016 If I'm drinking mixed drinks, I'm more concerned about how they taste than how buzzed they'll get me, but maybe that's just me...
Vibrantvirgo81 Posted September 24, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted September 24, 2016 I want the taste and the alcohol. I'm concerned about the strength of the alcohol since that's what I'll be paying for. If it's well made it shouldn't be too strong or weak of alcohol, either can ruin it. sherilyn70 Posted September 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) If I'm drinking mixed drinks, I'm more concerned about how they taste than how buzzed they'll get me, but maybe that's just me... I agree, i drink it for the flavor. However i can i usually tell if they use well drinks versus a second tier alcohol. Yes, I'm trying to decide how many I may drink and if it'll be worth it. I was thinking they may pour light. Sent from my iPhone using Forums If you think it's light get a shot of the alcohol that it is it and add it in front of them. But honestly i don't think they pour light. The servers and bartenders all know it could affect their tips. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy 7 edge using Tapatalk. Mligicon Posted September 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 25, 2016 If you talk to the bartender and tip them, they will pour heavy.
cb at sea Posted January 17, 2017 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2017 I've always found the pours to be MORE than generous! No worries!
tiptopz Posted February 1, 2017 #10 Share Posted February 1, 2017 I have always found the bartenders to be quite generous with their pouring but like previous posts said, we usually find a bar we like and tend to go back there. We chat and tip a little. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Mrs.Gosse Posted February 2, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 2, 2017 I would have to say it might be possible that it could depend on the cruise line itself. I know for a fact on princess it almost seems like they are too strong. Because it kind of effects some of the drinks in a negative way. anthonyy7 Posted March 23, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 23, 2017 2 for 1 or any happy hr drink specials will be pretty weak. It's so busy and they making them super fast so not one will taste the same. Sent from my iPad using Forums
JawjaFatBoy Posted March 28, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 28, 2017 My experience with Carnival has been that they don't pour light. As a rule the drinks have been quite strong enough to keep me happy! On several occasions the pours have actually been a good bit stronger than I liked.
Erin Megison Posted April 4, 2017 #14 Share Posted April 4, 2017 On Carnival Dream; do they serve Crown Royal, Jagermeister and Redbull. If so are the part of the "cheers" program! TIA Sent from my iPhone using Forums
dverzic Posted May 6, 2017 #15 Share Posted May 6, 2017 Last year on Carnival Miracle i found the drinks to be pretty weak. One afternoon we were playing cards on deck and i had a kamakazi. It was pretty weak, so I had a second and then a third. By the time we were done I had 5 and barely felt a thing. Keep in mind that I am a 135 lb female, so I should've gotten a decent buzz. Oh and this was over the course of only an hour and a half! This year when we went, i had a bottle of vodka preordered for my room. I also brought a flask that looks like a suntan lotion tube, so when i ordered drinks I would "spike" them on occasion. cb at sea Posted June 3, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 3, 2017 I've actually had to ask for LESS booze...some were WAY too strong!
kentuckysailor Posted October 11, 2017 #17 Share Posted October 11, 2017 I have cruised on several different lines and my experience is that the drinks are very weak. I am not a heavy drinker and two martinis would ordinarily give me a buzz, but not on a cruise. Also, I have noticed that I never see anyone who appears drunk, even on one of the "party" cruise lines. I would like to hear others' experience about this. Azure Moon Posted October 15, 2017 #18 Share Posted October 15, 2017 It seems anymore my first drink has a lot of alcohol in it and the second one I order barely has any alcohol at all. I'd much rather have consistent amounts of alcohol...the amount the recipe calls for measured with a measuring instrument, not some guess-as-you-pour producing too much or too little alcohol in the drink. I get tired of trying to find a bar that offers consistency.
stevefrisco Posted October 26, 2017 #19 Share Posted October 26, 2017 My buddy snuck some 151 on the ship with him this last cruise and was hammered the whole time. My wife drinks and smokes like a fish and can't seem to get a buzz from the cruise ship drinks and was dumping the 151 in her drinks and never was able to get too wild :( I think it is all frame of reference and how much you drink at home.
