Tipping in Norway

Recommended Posts

I think the guides would appreciate tips in Krone, as that will be much easier for them to use. If you are going to top in Euro or USD then I would suggest notes not coins, so they can exchange them if they wish.

Cant use Euros for anything in Norway either, but its not that hard to get i changed, and to be honest Norwegians basicly tip at restaurants and thats it. I guess a tour guide working with american tourists might have gotten used to getting tips, but tipping culture in Norway is nothing like in the United states.

Thanks. That was very informative. I was worried, It is not easy to get Krone in Canada at the bank they must be ordered in advanced and you have to buy a lot.

The trick is to not go through the bank.

I have had no problem getting Danish Krone (or any other European currency) at any of the independent foreign currency exchanges in Ottawa, nor have I ever had to purchase a minimum. I have also found their exchange fees to be less than my bank's. Have you looked into such exchanges in Toronto?
