doubleduty Posted January 31, 2016 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2016 Hi: Has anyone gotten their GTY cabin assignment for the Disney Magic that departs on 24 March 2016? Just wondering.
moki'smommy Posted January 31, 2016 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2016 Did you book a GTY (as in 5B GTY) or a *GT (as in OGT or VGT?) It matters. The standard GTY where you get no discount on booking and select a category can be assigned at any time, typically about 45 days before embarkation. The *GT bookings can also be assigned at any time, but are more often about 30 days before booking. They can also be changed at any time until boarding (although this rarely happens). doubleduty Posted January 31, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted January 31, 2016 It is a GTY. Booked thru a TA. My understanding is that I will know the cabin assignment simply by checking my reservation. I just need to be patient I guess.
moki'smommy Posted January 31, 2016 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2016 Yes, you'll see it on line. You're just a little early although it can show up at any time. I know that sounds like a contradiction. Normally, on one day a CM will shut down the ability to book a certain category or an entire cruise on line and will "work" the inventory, placing all the GTY bookings into cabin assignments. The computer booking will then reopen, but will reflect the new assignments. This is the norm, and is typically at about 45 days out. On the other hand, one CM could look at your reservation for some reason and make an assignment...for instance, if you booked a 5BGTY she might notice that there are now 8 of these available and place you in one. And yes, we've all gone thru the "checking 3 times a day" ritual.......
doubleduty Posted February 2, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted February 2, 2016 I got the cabin assignment today. No upgrade...boo hoo. But I am happy to be going on my first Disney cruise.
