  1. I've stayed at the YWCA twice and I'm about to make it a third time. Great location -- walking distance to restaurants and very close to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre where you can catch a touring production of a Broadway show. The hotel is clean, staff are very friendly.
  2. Thanks to all who responded. I can now see that even though there is no longer a per minute option, there is apparently a per day option for $27.99 (purchased pre-boarding) or $34.99 (purchased onboard) -- both of which seem pricey to just do an airline check-in. However, as others have pointed out, I can just use my data the morning we return to Vancouver. One less thing to worry about 🙂
  3. Yes, this is what I used to do -- but now HAL says this: Based on guest feedback we have moved away from pricing based on minutes or megabytes. Our aim is to reduce friction in the guest experience by ensuring guests do not have to monitor their usage – they only need to purchase the package which includes the sites they want and enjoy.
  4. I guess........I always feel better doing it as soon as it's available........
  5. Unfortunately, Air Canada only allows checkins 24 hours ahead of time.
  6. I don't have the HIA package for my upcoming solo cruise -- but I've just discovered that I can no longer pay-as-you-go for internet minutes. My plan is to find wifi in ports to check email but now I'm wondering how I'm going to do my online checkin for my flight home. My last day on board is a sea day. Do I have to buy a one day plan? Are there other options that I'm not thinking of? The price per day seems to be $34.99 US (which is about $47 Cdn -- ugh) -- this seems high to use it once to check in.
  7. UPDATE -- after much back & forth, Harv & Marv have agreed to refund me the additional $50 -- BUT, I'm still looking for a new recommendation.
  8. We are supposed to be in Juneau on Sept. 6 from 12:30-10:00pm -- we just got changed to a 1:30pm arrival. My tour with Harv & Marv was scheduled for 1:15pm, but due to the cruise change, the tour has been changed by more than THREE hours! New departure time is 4:30pm. There was no "do you accept this change or would you like to cancel" option -- I was just told of the switch. The problem is, I have something else planned for the evening, so it's not an option. They (Harv & Marv) have refunded me, but kept a $50 "cancellation fee", claiming it's my fault for cancelling, not theirs, which I will be disputing with my credit card company. I have gone whale watching with them before and have always recommended them to others -- but this now feels like a bait & switch. So.........I need a new recommendation, if anyone has one.
  9. Oohhhh.....that's really good to know! Thank you 🙂
  10. Thank to all who replied. So, if I eat in the buffet, I should stop by the MDR and choose for the following night? Or.......if I just want to order from the Indian menu, I don't need to do so ahead of time, just on the spot?
  11. I know that if I want to order from the Vegetarian/Vegan/Indian menu for dinner, I must place my order the day before. How does that work if I was to eat in the buffet one night, but the dining room the next night? Does it matter if I have a set time, or can I do this for Anytime Dining as well?
  12. Another vote for Windsong Lodge. They have a free shuttle that does a loop from the lodge to the train station to the port to downtown (restaurants & shopping). There's also a restaurant on site and you can book a number of pre-cruise tours through them, with lodge pickup & drop-off.
