  1. Believe that none of the sky suites were remodeled. We were in 6125 on the Summit 2 weeks ago and nothing was changed. The plan was just to remodel the Penthouse and Royal suites.

Yes, but just curious as 6145/6 are attached to the Penthouse suites and have always had different decor than other S1's which is similar in style to the Penthouses. Just thought that they might want to have them match as they are connected.

    Regardless, I'm sure we'll love 6145.

  2. Did =X= renovate 45/46 when Summit was in for dry dock? I know that they did the PH's, so not sure if these two were also redone?

Was this question every answered? Does anyone know if these two aft Sky Suites were renovated with the rest of the AFT suites on Summit (Royal and Penthouse)???

  3. Would anyone actually have a copy of this "butler list"?? We travel in suites, and I've never seen this. I find I don't use the butler as much as I probably could...I would love to see this list (maybe feeling that he/she does more would cause me to tip him/her much more generously...) - I say she/her to be inclusive, however I've never actually had a female butler...

  4. I also really enjoy these rooms on the Solstice class ships! Kudos to Celebrity for using this space to create something beautiful and artistic in lieu of adding a few more tables to the Ensemble Lounge.

We all need a little more art and beauty in our lives ;-)

  5. Ummm, Did you read what I wrote? I never said Celebrity was pulling the ship because of the area not being safe, I said the pax are making the decision not to book, my guess is because they feel its not safe or don't want to travel to Europe because they feel uneasy. Either way Celebrity is pulling capacity from Europe, whether due to less pax, lower ticket prices or whatever, the fact is they they are going where they feel can fill the ship at a better rate. I'm sure it's not an easy or inexpensive decision but it is what it is.

Do you have another thought why Celebrity would do this with only 9 months to sailings:confused:

Myself, I have no desire to go to Europe, safety reasons or not. Give me a nice sandy beach and a cocktail and I'm good.:D

I most certainly did read what you wrote. I just don't agree with your statement that Europe is a volatile area (as compared to North America).

I do agree that Celebrity has made these decisions because many North Americans are hesitant to travel to Europe because of misinformation.

I also am not in a hurry to get to Europe again, but only because I'd rather spend my money on Suite Class as opposed to airfare.

I do agree that a sandy beach and a cocktail anywhere sounds good ;)

  6. Get real, it's a business that does business in a very volatile area. When you book any European trip, cruise or land, you have to have a bit of uncertainty that the trip may be moved or not happen at all. Sucks, you had 2 cruises that have been canceled but you chose an area where things happen.

I would hardly consider Europe to be a "volatile" area. Horrible things happen all around the world... For people to be "afraid" to go to Europe because of recent events (with the exception of the attempted coup in Turkey)? My advice is to take a look in your own backyard. The only reason we mainly choose cruises out of North America is because of the airfare savings, and the reduced suite fares, definitely not because we feel safer...

  7. Thanks for that breath of fresh air. I've been tempted to try Princess because of some of their itineraries in the South Pacific, but why take a chance that we'll spend a week comparing Princess unfavorably to Celebrity when we're quite happy where we are? I'm glad you found X and enjoyed it so much - we Ontarians need something to look forward to on cold days like this.

I agree completely! We've always thought about trying another cruise line too, but we are extremely happy with X. Why mess with a good thing? The service that we receive is always exceptional!

**I also agree with the "We Ontarians..."part of needing something to look forward to on cold days; what an awful day for weather, especially here in Waterloo!!

  8. OP, you haven't mentioned what type of cabin you've sailed on with Celebrity. If you haven't sailed in a suite, the recent upgrades to this class of cabins might be appealing. Luminae is outstanding, Michaels Club a wonderful pre-dinner stop and you'll receive excellent concierge service, the butler is top notch and free dinners at the specialty a big perk.

If you are someone who sails in suites on Celebrity please ignore my post, if not check out what is included and compare it to other lines.

We have sailed on Princess 4 or 5 times this decade and never again, HAL is okay but just okay. The new suites benefits on Celebrity are not to be dismissed.

Good luck with your decision and an early happy 20th. Hope this helps.

Helpful advice. As we have only sailed on X, and recently only in top suites, we have always loved our experiences. I guess it's not worth moving to another luxury line such as Crystal to sail in a regular stateroom? Suites on those lines seem to be quite out of reach.

  9. I find this thread quite interesting...we have only cruised with X, and in the past few years only in high end suites. We enjoy the Royal Suites, and tend to now stick with those. However, we have never tried another cruise line, and a high-end suite on Crystal or Regent is out of the snack bracket.

So for those of you who have cruised these other lines, would you suggest sticking with X in an RS, or trying Crystal (for example) in a regular stateroom?

We keep wondering if we are missing something with these other lines? However our RS and CS experiences on X have been great, so we figure "why mess with a good thing?"

  10. Has anyone used this service before? We are using it in January. Do they arrange transfer from the airport to the port and back? If so, how does it work?

We always book round-trip transfers through Choice Air. Prices vary depending on the airport and distance from the pier. I find the convenience of not looking for cabs etc., to be worth the extra money. They ensure you are getting to where you need to be (at least in all my past cases).

  11. I would think that a suite guarantee would only receive the points for a Sky Suite...that's technically what you have paid for (unless there are no Sky suites available at the time and your fare is more in line with a CS or RS fare--but I still think you might only get 8 points per night).

On a side note, I've never really cared too much about the CC points. We are Elite now after only having done 5 cruises on X, but even before earning Elite, we AWLAYS received the Elite coupons in our suites (CS and RS). So I until we reach Elite+, we won't notice any difference from past cruises.

The only coupons we use are the laundry coupons and the $5 betting coupons for BlackJack (those I like). Everything else to me seems useless (e.g., photo discount, specialty restaurant discounts, internet discount - as CS comes with 90 min free for each guest, and RS is unlimited). We also have no desire to go up to a CC event. Events to meet the captain and senior officers are always held in Michael's.

  12. Does anyone know can the indoor spinning bikes be used when there is no class on?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No. Last time I was on Reflection, they were not available for use outside of scheduled classes (which are NOT worth it). Speaking as someone who goes to spin class regularly at home: don't pay the money on board! I have tried the classes on a few different ships, and have given up. There is absolutely no choreography...just an instructor saying "tension up! speed up!". It was really quite bad. Do your own thing in the fitness centre on board and reserve spinning for the qualified instructors in your local gym.

    My two cents,

  13. Hi:

Does anyone have updates on Luminae?

--Hours of operation for breakfast and lunch. Open and Close times.

--Any change to the lunch menu to add more variety?

--Is all furniture, crystal and china in place now?

--Any locally inspired items on the menu yet?

--How is the piped in music? Is it still the music we heard in the video from when it first opened?

--How long does it take for a typical dinner?

Please no assumptions. I would like to hear info from those who have had hands on experience of recent, if possible.

    Thanks very much!!

    Just off the Solstice...

First let me say...we LOVED Luminae. We have done many past cruises in Aqua, but find Luminae to be much better than BLU...The morning pastries were "to die for"...(now I'm paying for them with daily spin classes here at home!).

    - It was always open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (sea and port days) - also open for breakfast on debarkation day (hours were as stated in previous post)

    - We found there were three different lunch menus on rotation (I believe--always something different to try) - loved the Chicken & Waffles!

    - All furniture and china was in place

    - I was able to get Baked Alaska (it was an Alaskan cruise), but I had to ask for it--other than that, I don't think anything was from locally inspired items...(and not that Baked Alaska is by any means locally sourced!)

    - Never really noticed the music...I think this may vary by ship to ship and even sailing to sailing...

    - Dinner was usually no more than an hour, if that (and that was with espressos and desserts too)

*One evening my espresso took too long to arrive (after having finished dessert), so I decided to leave before it came--THAT NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN...they definitely were aware that I liked espresso with each meal and in a timely fashion. I didn't even complain or make a fuss...they are pretty intuitive of your preferences after a day or two.

Once again, we really enjoyed Luminae. No waiting at anytime, and we just showed up when we felt like eating...looking forward to the next visit.

Luminae and Michael's (if you have a top tier suite) make the "suite life" so worth it now.;)

  14. Stayed in a suite in June and not worth the (double) price compared to a balcony cabin IMHO [emoji41]

That's what is great about a cruise...pay for a suite if you want the extra service, don't pay if you don't.

I for one love Luminae and the service that come with the Michael's Concierge. Not waiting in long lines for embarkation, debarkation, tenders, dinner times...that's more than worth the price for me.

  15. Does anyone know if the Solstice has it yet?

Just got off the Solstice. Loida (the Molecular Bartender EXTRAORDINAIRE) said it would be leaving soon...but even she wasn't sure when. So if you are on Solstice in August, it's a pretty safe bet it will still be there...

  16. On the Solstcie in the Pacific our internet was slow. On the Equinox at Easter it was much better....I am unsure if it is location or ship or recent upgrades that have made a difference.

I agree, we just got off the Solstice, and the internet was VERY slow. I have actually never had such slow speeds as we experienced on this cruise...luckily we weren't paying for it (but I would be quite upset if we were!).

  17. I have also wondered about trying the YC on MSC or the Haven on NCL, but since we are used to RS & CS suites on X, I wonder if I would be disappointed. I would hate to book onto one of these and not enjoy myself. We ALWAYS enjoy our suites on X and absolutely love Michael's. Trying Luminae for the first time in a few days! I've only heard good things.

  18. I received an email from the Shoreside Concierge yesterday...we are departing on the Solstice this Friday. She told me who the Michael's Club Concierge will be, but I haven't received an email from her.

In the past, I have received emails from the Concierge on board...It's nice to speak with someone prior who will actually be onboard the ship.

This is what the Shoreside Concierge said:

My goal is to make your Celebrity experience as carefree as possible, and I am therefore happy to assist you in any way I can. It would be my pleasure to make arrangements on your behalf; no request is too big or too small. A list of my services includes, but is not limited to:

    · Reserving Specialty Dining

    · Assisting with Shore Excursion and Private Tours reservations

    · Booking spa appointments

    · Accommodating in-suite needs and special requests/celebrations

    · Answering general questions regarding the ship and the destinations you will visit

  19. "Spring break is not a big issue"?????? I never thought that until the infamous March 7 Connie cruise of this year which I sailed. Believe me, it was indeed a big issue and I would never, ever, ever, ever want to be on a cruise like that again!!!

Have had no problems with 7 day Spring Break cruises with a mix of children and teens of all ages. But a ship literally 50%+ full of college students and a complimentary drink package?!? We have a different definition of issue I think:)

No it wasn't for us. Sorry you had a bad experience. ;)

We didn't notice any disruption on the March 16th sailing this year (and believe me, if there was something to take note of, we are the type that would).

As I said, we don't hang around the pool on sea days and we almost exclusively use Michael's as our bar/lounge of choice.
