  1. In St.Thomas we (my dh and another couple) walked a couple blocks to a store selling rum. Picked up 3 bottles of flavor rum for 15 dollars then took a cab to a beautiful beach and drank the rum and swan in the ocean. It was a beautiful day and I would do that again next time I was in St.Thomas. My husband lost his shoes that day and had to walk back on the ship barefoot. It was a blast.

  2. A few years ago in Belize our tour bus was sitting in grid-locked traffic in down town at the time the ship was scheduled to sail. Our guide assured us that a tender and a CCL rep was waiting for us on the dock.... and it was :)

Same thing happened to us a couple years ago. The ship had already pulled anchor when our tender arrived back. Thankful we were on a Carnival excursion.

  3. I love it. Priority check in. First to tender, special line at guest services, faster debarkment. Totally worth it to me. I think it gives your cruise an extra special feeling.

I never thought I would need guest services but my last cruise I used them several times, when there was a huge lineup, and I was looked after right away.

Anyway, I book interior and spend the extra on FTTF

  4. I sailed with my the kids last year. 16, 14 and 10. I suggest instead of one room she get connecting rooms or what we did. We had a balcony room and our kids were across from us in an interior. It worked out great and we didn't feel cramped in a room, it almost felt like a two room suite. The cost isn't really much more for two rooms I found. My 10 year old enjoyed kicking back on his upper berth, ordering room service and watching tv in his own room. But we also enjoyed the balcony as a family. And we had enough closets for everyone and two bathrooms. And a place for mom and dad to escape to.

  5. The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago when I was checking for the cruise we are leaving on this weekend. When I used my daughter's computer that I had never logged into before I was able to view the cruise. I wasn't able to see it when I used my computer even though I wasn't logged into my account.

And just because you've always done it doesn't mean they haven't changed it. ;-)

  6. We were on the Conquest last year. We didn't have FTTF so we had to wait until our number was called. I don't remember the number but we were among the last off. (not by choice) We were on the 8th deck mid-ship balcony.

    1. I think we were called to get off around 9:30

    2. yes, long lines

    3. Yes, backed up. We were happy to finally be off the ship then we waited in customs even longer.

    4. I believe we had to leave our cabin by 8:00? They rushed us through breakfast in the MDR then we sat and waited. There is nothing to do so we sat in the chilly morning sun on the lido deck.

  7. We do the drive from Ontario Canada. Google maps says it takes about 24 hours. We leave 2 days before. So if the ship sails Saturday, we would leave Thursday afternoon and be in Florida Friday night. Sharing the drivie or stopping for a few hours at a rest stop in the car. Stayng the night somewhere on Friday night and completing the drive to port in the morning.

So I'd say your road trip is definately do able.

  8. We are driving to Florida from Ontario for our cruise leaving the POM on Jan 12. We are considering finding a hotel an hour or two from Miami, near the beach, for Saturday night. Then driving to the port on Sunday morning, so I would like to be within an hour or two driving time. This would give the kids a little more time to see the ocean for the first time instead of arriving in Miami later in the day when it will probably already be dark. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was considering Jupiter.

  9. In Roatan we rented a cabana. The beach is beautiful but crowded except where the cabanas are. They only let people that rented them on that part of the beach. We also got a taxi and went to see Victor Bodens monkeys. They were so cute and fun to play with.

How do you rent the cabanas in Roatan? Is it in the excursions? Thanks for your help
