Thanks! Yes, I forgot to specify that it is the Getaway.
That is one of our favorite suites. It is a bit of a walk from the elevator bank if you are schlepping a whole bunch of stuff, but the privacy is worth it. Also, the in Haven penthouses do not have a separate living room like these suites do. You will love this spacious suite!
You can use either elevators. You can access the Haven from 15 or 16. If on 15 use the floor 15 Haven door .there is just a flight of stairs and you are there.
Have a great time !

We cruised quite a bit with our 3 when they were very young.
For long airplane rides I would carry on small jars ( now plastic) of toddler fruits or those individual applesauces, tapioca etc. I would also take some for the trip home. We were traveling from the west coast to Florida or New York
Also, individual sized Cheerios and other cereals are easy to toss in the luggage or baby bag. A box of baby cookies takes up little space and can be used for the return flight
We never had an issue boarding a ship with the items in plain sight.

ThAnks for the answers!

Hello, Fellow Getaway cruisers:
We are sailing Saturday and understand that the show has been re-vamped. HAs anyone seen both, and is it enough of a change to warrant a second round? We just don't want to "waste" precious ship time, but also enjoy "magic"
Thanks

Saturday cannot come soon enough!!!

Will Adrain be around for a while? Sailing next week.
Do you remember who the asst concierge was?
Thanks
-
Hello!
Do they still have the 50% off sale on the last sea day?
It seemed to be the only place to get logo wear.
Thanks
-
Yes, after final payment NCL sends a welcome letter with your luggage tags. In that letter should be the phone number for the pre-cruise concierge desk. We had all our requests fulfilled on our last cruise (first time in a suite) and hope for the same on our next. Some say it is hit or miss if things are completed for when you board but so far we are one for one.
You can contact the pre-concierge as soon as you book. I have emails from ours about our cruise next week that were exchange in September of 2014.
A gentle reminder closer to sailing is probably recommended. The luggage tags and stuff come well after suite final.
Don't wait- it can't hurt.

How early can you book the shows and specialty restaurants? We also have the UDP and would like to book the Illusionarium show on the first night asap. Do you know if they charge you when you do the booking and refund you later on the ship? Or, does the system recognize that you have UDP and waive the charges when you book on line?
You can book 90 days out, suites 100 days.ypu can book online or you can call.when we booked with UDP
For our upcoming cruise, we entered the time and # of guests and the total would be zeroed out. You put the reservations in your virtual cart and the total due is $0.00
We booked ours before the 18% gratuity, so I don't know if that is included or will be charged to,us on board.

With it being the last night of the cruise, just hope there aren't a bunch of people wanting the butler to pack for them. Also, being a parent, I would let my son hang out with new friends during the cruise, but the last evening of our vacation would be spent with us, and not in a stranger's cabin.
I agree. Your son may be quite disappointed as his brand - new friends may prefer to run about the ship or, as LRGPIZZA says... Be with their families. The last evening there is no way I would want to lose time with my kiddos to "party" with a stranger.
I don't think you'll have much of a turnout which may be disappointing.
Also, I don't allow my kids in other people's cabins/suites.

We are cruising with you. She is over favorite ship!
Don't miss the lobster rolls served at Ocean Blue for lunch on sea days from 12-2pm. 10 bucks but worth it.
If you are prone to any GI problems, bring your own pepto bismol, etc. like all cruise ships these days you can't get much in the way of tummy-tamers once onboard without visiting the clinic( and, yes, I understand the importance of not spreading noro. Not advocating trying to cover up . But getting queasy after too much rich food and booze sometimes calls for a swig of the pink stuff.)
I never go to Welcome Aboard shows but was dragged to the one on the Getaway. It was a blast!
Bring glow int he dark stuff for the Glow Party. It was really fun, as was the 80s party.
The gift shoppe stinks for sundries.Bring extra sunscreen.
Deal or No Deal sounds corny but was a good time.. Lots of laughter.
Unlessypu are in a suite or spa room there will be no shampoo and conditioner in little bottles. I think hey have a dispenser on the shower wall. If you have lotsa hair or wild hair, don't forget your own conditioner. Even the fancy Elemis stuff in the suites can't tame my mane.
If you are going to the Baths on Virgin Gorda, bring beach shoes and a waterproof pouch.
I am counting the days, hours, minutes and seconds on the IConcierge app"

I disagree. It most certainly is a safety issue.
Even though it was not a kid's club activity, when a child drowns on a ship there will be a STRONG push to enforce capacity and safety rules...whether people like it or not. Based on recent events, its hardly surprising that that these policies are being enforced on the Gem.
LOTS of drama in this thread ...amazing how upset some people get when faced with the fact that their own children might have to spend time with them on their "family vacation". Gone are the days when you could just dump your kids off and let someone else worry about them while you're out having fun.
Our kids loved camp on the ship until they were 11 or so.
Going to camp, the pirate parade and shows that they participated I were part of the fun
The kids programs were a treat for them.
I wouldn't go on a cruise with kids if there were not kids activities.
The sarcasm and judgement adds nothing to this discussion .
Letting your kids attend a group activity so that the adults can do adult stuff together for a few hours each day does not one a bad parent make.
-
I understand that there has to be a limit on the number of kids- the space on th Jewel class ships is not bigbut if I had cruised with my 3 and we couldn't get in and I had received no advanced warning-
Oh my goodness . My head would fall off
Now you will have parents taking turns camping out for space and so many ticked off parents and sad kids
Was there an incident on one of the ships that led to this? I know that on Disney we were often horrified by the sheer numbers of kids all in the
"Camp" area at once , climbing all over each other .
But I digress.
This is gonna cause a hell
storm of Epic proportions.
So sorry that you have had this happen, OP. Nice , relaxing vacation. My kids would have been very disappointed.

No, but you Will pay the DSC which I think is $12.95 per passenger per day
There is no $20 fee even in the Haven. Some choose to tip 20 a day for the butler or concierge- but not a $20 fee
Go to your cruise contract which you can get at NCL.com and spend some time reading it so there are no big surprises .
The DSC is spelled out for you.
-
To kohara- the OP
You are in a mini suite according to the next thread you started
Nothing in THIS thread applies to your mini suite
Did you book online , with a Personal cruise consultant it with a travel agent?
A mini suite does not get any suite benefits.
A mini suite is a balcony cabin with more space and an upgraded bathroom.
The moniker "mini- SUITE" is misleading .
-
Yikes! Someone gave you bad information. You will not have Haven access or any other suite benefits.
They really need to change the name of the mini- suite to something else .

Any one know if the dining credits are transferable between people in the same room.
I have 2 adults and 2 kids and kids are half off for the UDP so I doubt they will use up their credit. They also have nut allergies so other foods/bakery won't be used.
So their unused credit, can that go to the adults?
Do you mean they kids are "kids Sail free or 1/2 off" or did you purchase them the UDP at 50% off? Did you buy the UDP or did you get it as part of a promotion? I assume that the adults also have the UDP if the kids have it .
As the previous poster said, there are no credits. You either utilize the specialty restaurants or not.
I don't really understand the question - sorry!
-
I seriously hope you mean Paramore. If not then I need to brush up on the band Parahoy....:D
Paramore does the Parahoy cruise- clever little moniker they give this 4 day cruise.
-
I had to look this up. I thought Parahoy was like the Paralympics and was very impressed that NCL was hosting such a cruise.
I must be old because I am not familiar with Paramore the BAND!!
Enjoy- been a few years since we were on this ship but we loved it!

Thanks for the info. This is great news. Those of us that use our butts to save our lounge chairs often eat breakfast and lunch there. I'm glad that can continue.
What a novel concept!!!!
-
Where do I eat my lobster tails from Carlos Bakery? Do I have to eat my cupcake there as well? Or are baked goods for which one pays extra exempt from health concerns?
And anyone trying to come between my DD and her plate o'cookies from the buffet each afternoon will experience
100 pounds of fury!
I don t see this ending well.....

Last trip the asst concierge told us that there is an average of 150 people with Haven access on a Getaway cruise.
Seems reasonable when you look at how many available suites there are.
-
on our cruise on the Sun last year, yes it was ok to take a bar drink into the MDR, and yes soda ordered in the MDR was on the package (when you actually got it delivered to the table that is!)
We have never had a problem getting a soda in the restaurants, at bingo or at shows..
We even got refills at dinner. Only 2 of our 3 kids drink soda, so we purchase on board.
If we are in the cabin for down time, grabbing a soda for a couple bucks is no big deal.
As to water, carrying on a few of the bottles with the pull-up spout is a good idea. Easy to carry to excursions, bot as big as the bulky b,ottles from the ship, and we can toss them instead of washing and refilling reusable bottles. I know, not green ( my daughter won't do this) but vacation should be easy.
Price change in one day!!!!

You don't see the sale price until you enter all the guest info. Times crazy. I booked 2 days ago and noticed the Leap Sale . Prices on the Leap sale are the same the same as the Wow sale . Crazy
