Try the Mojito at the little bar in the Serenity area of the Valor. Never Anyone at that bar so I think the bartender wanted to make sure we came back often to keep him company!🍸

The Beltway is a better option but might have to watch out for the toll amounts. If you use the rental car's easy tag you may be charged additional amounts for easy tag. Check the notice in the car before using the toll roads.

Better choice would be to fly into Hobby Airport if at all possible.

I have the kindle app on my smartphone and wondered if the phone would work in the ziplock bag too....it does!!. Thanks so much for this tip. I'm the world's clumsiest so I'm sure my phone would end up wet somehow otherwise.
Good to know. Will definitely have to try this with my phone.

I want to see different parts of the world. We will save our cruising days for the future when we may need walkers and may not be able to get around the ports.
No this sounds like a plan. Never thought about it like this before. And what a great way to look at life itself!

Do not pack a Multi-Tool in your checked luggage! They will call you down to security and they will confiscate it.

We stayed 2 nights at the Intercontinental this past Sept. It was, and probably still is, under renovations. The room was great. The renovations stop at 5pm so they don't bother you in the evenings. Most of the staff was rude. It took the waitress 30 minutes to get our drinks. The best part is the little bar on the beach. They were all very friendly and the drinks were great. Probably because they are totally separate from the Intercontinental.

We are both cruisers. Been married 33 years. Been on 3 cruises and waiting for #4 in Feb 2014. We are both content to just relax and enjoy the ship. We do get off at each port but mainly just to find a spot to sit and people watch.
We leave the stress of rushing here and there back home.

The aft cabin on the Carnival Valor are smaller than other cabins. To see anything from the balcony you have to stand up. The rail blocks the view while sitting. The worst part of the balcony in the unbearable heat! There is no shade so it is like sitting in an oven, even at 6am.
We just returned from a 7 day from Puerto Rico to the Southern Caribbean. I never realized how hot it would be in October.

A sewing kit is a MUST. On our first cruise a button came off my swimsuit as we were on our way out the door. I asked the steward for a needle & thread and his did not understand what I was asking for. Not a big deal but something I made sure to pack first on our next cruise.
Some other things to remember to take:
Someone you love
Lots of Pictures, they will last longer than most of our memories will
An open mind and positive attitude
A deep breath and relax!

I am a photo/scrapbooking fan so I do buy a few photos. But, only a few. I bring a 1" binder notebook with page protectors. I slip the photos or any other paper brochure, map, Fun Times that I don't want wrinkled, in the page protectors. It does not take up much room in a suite case.
I'm back! And I have it Cheers Card!

The Cheers program is a great guilt free way to try different types of drinks. If you don't like the new drink you can still try 14 more. 😜
