This place offers evening concerts and is close to Ft El Morro.

I did the electric boat in Vieques. It was really  cool because you're higher up so you see more than from a kayak. We saw a sting ray gliding through the water.

I've done the kayak twice. Lots of fun, too, because it's like playing bumper kayaks until you get out of the narrow channel and into the lagoon.

I came a few days early so I could do the tours.

What is the place that offers evening concerts? Or is it called "This place"?

  2. Hello!

I am going to be in San Juan from 3pm-midnight for my cruise on 10/28. I love the idea of seeing Flamenco, but of course my cruise docks on a Monday night, the only night Triana doesn't have it. I have already e-mailed them and they said sometimes they will add it when it gets closer based on dancer availability and to check back. I also e-mailed Barrachina and they said theirs is only Saturday nights. Is there anywhere that has flamenco on Monday nights?

Any other suggestions for night activities are appreciated. I saw the bio boat tours, but concerned about getting there and back and the time that will take and the stress of doing that vs. how much I will enjoy it. Thanks!

  3. Cienfuegos was my favorite place in Cuba! We hired a private car/driver & guide through Fernando Mora. We went to some places that the guide suggested, but mostly made our own itinerary. It was fantastic!!

Did you hire the guide in advance or when you arrived? How much was it? Thanks!!

  4. Going to Cienfuegos on a cruise in November. Having a hard time finding info. Could anyone share what they did? Hoping not to book something through the ship. Also trying to decide if I should try to go to Trinidad instead, and if so, any tour guide suggestions? Thanks so much!

  5. I have been looking at Panama Canal cruises recently and it seems like the DCL ones are very competitively priced with other lines that offer full transit cruises. I have done one DCL cruise before and loved it and would love to do another.

I see that the next two are San Diego/Port Canaveral and the third is San Diego/Galveston. I live very close to Port Canaveral and would love to do that one, but probably wouldn't be able to do it that soon (my work situation is changing in about a year or less, making this cruise more feasible).

I am wondering - does the Wonder regularly rotate between Port Canaveral and Galveston, or will it likely be Galveston for its next cruises...or any other musings anyone has. I know there is no way to know for sure, but I didn't know if historically it did a certain thing. Also, when about will the next cruises be released?

I would like to hear general experiences from others as well - I did a search and not much comes up about DCL Panama Canal cruises.

Thank you for any thoughts or insight you can provide. :)

  6. As others have touched on - just because there are tables does not mean there is staff. They could have probably accommodated a reservation a few days in advance because then they would have known how much staff to have in the steakhouse, but they can't change staffing only a few hours in advance. Why check every day - why not just make a reservation one day?

  7. Ok, I have tried to search, but I am not finding the exact answers I am looking for in regards to the drink packages.

If I do the beer/wine package, it is $46 a day. On a three night cruise, there is most of Friday, all day Saturday, all day Sunday, and a little of Monday.

Does that mean I would pay for 3 days if I wanted the whole cruise (ie, $138?), or is it four days ($184)?

Am I correct that it must start on Friday, since it is a short cruise?

I have seen it state that gratuity is included. Does that mean it is included in the $46, or when I get the bill it will be 46 plus the 18%?

Sorry, such newbie questions. I normally sail Carnival and I normally don't get the drink package, but going with friends. Thanks!

  8. I saw similar on another group. Not really surprised.

FYI. Effective immediately, The Lido Restaurant will continue to offer the following hot tea to guests at no charge:

    • Lipton Hot Tea

    • Lipton Decaf Hot Tea

    • Bigelow Green Tea

All other hot teas (specialty blends from the Art of Tea),will be a $1.95 charge in the dining rooms, steak house, coffee shops, and other specialty restaurants.

  9. Many ships sail two different itineraries (like eastern then western). Also, many B2Bs are repositioning cruises. If I wasn't working, I would have gladly hopped on the Legend when it left Tampa, went through the Panama Canal, did Hawaii, and then Australia in a B2B2B. That sounds awesome.

  10. Just because you felt safe doesn't mean you were safe.

I would never wait 30 minutes for a shuttle free or not.

Others asked for my review once I got back. If you don't want to use them, don't. I don't know about you, but I don't make $40+ an hour in my current job, so saving $40+ for basically 45 minutes is worth it to me. Different strokes for different folks.

  11. Just wanted to post a quick review of Premier Parking. We did park on the 5th level of a parking garage. We got there at noon. We waited 15 minutes for a shuttle (there was a short line) and then when we got back to port we waited almost exactly 30 minutes for them to pick us up. We just followed the directions on the sheet and did not call, as they requested. It was very simple and I felt safe the entire time. It was worth the $40 savings for a 5 day cruise.

  12. I love FTTF. Carnival charges for something that costs them nothing, and hopefully it makes my cruise cheaper. I have never bought it and never will. I get to the port around 1pm, board, drop off my bags and eat lunch. Often there is not a boarding line by then either. It is awesome.

  13. Only if you're platinum. They used to have a past guest party, then a few years ago, it was limited to gold (25+ days) & up. Now, it is limited to platinum (75+ days) & up. I wonder sometimes if people would actually be more offended by the price of a box of Cheerios going up than the box shrinking in size to keep the price the same.

You can also go to an Art Auction for free champagne. If you are Gold, you get a free drink coupon too.

  14. I booked 90 days out so I don't think it's to early or too late. When I called they said not to worry. Oh well, I guess we will hope for the best.

It could be that a high number of diamond or something booked the ship, and they aren't sure what dining they will have (since they get their first choice). You will be assigned something eventually.

  15. I was on the Conquest last month. I am Platinum & received the nice invitation - no one was at the door checking this. Anyone could have entered. Probably does depend on the ship & how many Platinum & Diamond pax are on board. The party was nicer, just because it wasn't so crowded.

I understand Gold VIFP members are disappointed at not getting to attend, but it really had become so large that it was no longer enjoyable (at least for me). Was it a business decision based on cost? No doubt it was, but I understand companies making business decisions.

Question - how do other lines do this - do they have cocktail parties?

In relation to your question, I can only speak about Royal Caribbean. They have a past guest party that you get to attend starting on your second cruise. On the cruise I went on it was in a lounge and the band played. The drinks were free flowing and there were appetizers. The parties go up from there - as my grandma likes to remind people, she is 11 days from diamond on Royal and they get a open bar every night for an hour or something.
