  1. Good evening and Happy New Year!  Here's to hopefully sailing in 2021!!!

We just booked the Valor for November (my 4th time on the Valor....LOVE this ship!!!).  However, we've never purchased the Cheers package before and we will have the Cheers package on this cruise.  I have several questions and have tried "searching" for the answers and can't find my specific answers.

    1.  The Valor sails from New Orleans and we've always cruised from Galveston.  With all our cruises being out of Galveston, I remember hearing the Cheers package didn't start till 8am the following morning after embarkation (the 2nd day).  When does the Cheers package start in New Orleans?

    2.  Does the Valor have milkshakes at their coffee bar?  I've read the Cheers package covers milkshakes.  Can anyone let me know if this true?

    3.  Does the Cheers package cover drinks/wine ordered in the dining rooms for meals AND in the steakhouse?

    4.  Does the Cheers package cover the specialty coffee's with alcohol from the coffee bar?

    5.  For all those who've participated in the Cheers package, are there any other tips/suggestions you can give me about the Cheers package that I may need to know?

Thanks for all your help!  I'm crossing my fingers we get to cruise in 2021 so I can reach my 25th milestone Carnival cruise!!

  2. Good evening!  We are booked on the Carnival Freedom in August.  We have YTD and I was wondering if any recent Freedom cruisers can tell me which dining room has the YTD?  Thanks so much for your help.

Also, this is the first 7 day cruise we've done in 3 years (we've been doing the 5 days on the Valor).  So, can any recent Freedom cruisers confirm they DO serve lobster and escargot on 7 day cruises?  I was disappointed to find out they don't serve lobster on 5 days anymore, plus, on our 5 day in April, the Carnival fleet was not serving escargot due to a shortage of escargot.  Just wondering if they are serving now.  Thanks so much.  As always, a cruise, even without lobster and escargot, is better than NOT being a cruise, lol.

anything SF may contain stuff like  Aspertame or other fake chemical  crap.  NSA means exactly that>.   no sugar( real or fake) is added.  they may add natural sweeteners like honey.  or agave.  I have to try and think of the possibilities for sweetener  in the packets.. I believe yellow, pink blue and  brown plus the white are typical.  I like trivia and stevia and you can get those in  packets to bring yourself.

I am  still using the old school WW( I never converted from like  three changes ago) and there was no difference in  points for being SF or NSA.

Hello!  Thanks for the tip on bringing my own Stevia.  I have that on my packing list for next week.  What other artificial sweetners do cruiseships have?  I'm also bringing the SF flavor packs for my bottled water.

  4. Thanks for all the congratulations and tips/advice!  I know the dining rooms/buffets will be fairly easy to follow my WW plan because of the variety of salads and fruits.  Thanks for the tips on some alcoholic drinks and SF items.  I do have 1 more question:  does someone know the difference between SF and no sugar added?  As for WW, does the "no sugar added" have more points than SF?

  5. Good morning!  I started WW (weight watchers) in January and have lost 25lbs on the way to my 100lb goal.

I have a cruise in 3 weeks. Are any of you on WW too and can share points of specialized cruise type food, types of skinny drinks available and sugar free desserts available?  As for "normal" foods, I can look up the points on my WW app.

On John Healds post yesterday, he mentioned you can request a sugar free warm chocolate melting cake. Has anyone tried this?

Any WW tips from those on WW would be extremely helpful to the new WW member. Thank you.

  6. Good evening!  We've booked the Carnival Dream and currently signed up for Early seating but we may change to YTD.  Which dining room and floor is Early seating?  Which dining room and floor is YTD?   We just returned from the Valor several months ago and for the midship dining room, they had Early/Late seating on the second level and YTD on the 1st level.  The aft dining room was all Early/Late dining.  Thanks for the info and help.

  7. Howdy CC friends,

Well, I'm booked on my FIRST casino cruise offer, the Premier Getaway on the Valor in April!  This will be my 22nd Carnival cruise and I'm SOOOOO excited like it's my very first cruise ever, lol.  I really don't know what to expect as for the "surprises" and "giveaways", and I'm SOOOOO excited about the DOU card for me and my husband!  Has anyone ever taken a Premier Getaway cruise and can tell me what to expect?  Even after so many cruises, I' always get excited about an upcoming cruise, but this time is even more excitement because I don't know what to expect on my "Premier Getaway" virgin cruise, lol.

Hi CruiseMomTX, I just booked my very first casino offer cruise and it's the Premier Getaway on the Valor, like yours.  So, I really don't know what to expect as far as the "surprises" in store.  I know that my husband will also get the DOU card because the offer said "and a guest".  Are there certain hours you must be present in the casino for all the giveaways and drawings?  Is there a welcome aboard cocktail party and is my husband invited too?  Any other tips or hints you could give me would be greatly appreciated since this is "uncharted territory", lol.  But, I'm super excited!!!  Thanks.

"We also both got emails today saying we can book a Spring Ultra Cruise on Dec 6 so will try to patiently wait and see what sailings and dates are offered.  Does anyone know what the previous Spring Ultra information was and how many sailings there were?

We did our first Premier sailing in Sept and then a Getaway in Nov that my husband won in Aug on the Dream.  I think we enjoyed the Getaway more.  Better casino hosts, we saw a fair amount of payouts $10,000, 2 for at least $8,000 or a bit more and a bunch of smaller ones myself included for $2400!  It was a Getaway and we didn't have our bag in the cabin with DOU card and event schedule so got that in the casino.  We just happened to go to the casino and there were other Getaway people standing around asking about a welcome aboard party and not sure if there was supposed to be one or if it was in the casino but the 2 ladies that were the casino hosts had the bartender come over and take orders for free drinks for about an hour and introduced themselves, etc..  They also said since we were sailing from Galveston and DOU cards wont start until the next day just show the bartenders your Getaway lanyard with DOU card and drinks will be taken care of so that was awesome!!  We got to know a bartender Mark and tipped him well and were never thirsty the whole week!!  We were on the Valor and had awesome service. I have stayed in it and next to the ones that have both balcony and front window on the edge it is the best room on a cruise ship I have ever had. I also snagged it in the same fashion you did. It was booked for a solid year or at least held in some way, then it became available one day close to the cruise and I snagged it. Our blinds were broken, but a small price to pay for that room. They did give a $50 credit for that.

So, you were in 9200 on the Valor and the blinds were broken?  When was this?  Did they stay open the whole time?

That's a neat cabin, I didn't know they had ones like that.  Our first cruise was the valor for our honeymoon with a porthole cabin, I'll have to remember this if we ever sail her again!

I also had a request, is there anyway you might consider buying and shipping one of the ornaments of the ships (the one that's a model of the ship)? I can send paypal before you leave with something for your trouble, my e-mail is my username at gmail.  We've been collecting them on our cruises since, but we didn't think to get one on our first cruise and I've been watching eBay with no luck for a year or so.  No worries if you're not interested, enjoy your trip!

Good morning, so sorry but I won't be able to get you an ornament.  I don't have those online payment accounts and would have no idea how to do it.  Plus, shipping to you might be an issue as well.  So sorry I couldn't help you 😕  And, thanks, we plan on having a great  trip.

there is NO deck outside this cabin.     the bridge is located right there.   You can not have your shades opened at night.

We got ready for bed then opened them   (with all the lights off) to watch the night sky)  but to tell you that when that sun comes up its bruttally bright.

Like posted the walk is long to get to the food-- and that walk gets longer as the week goes on.

Thanks so much for your information 🙂  I knew there was no deck out front and that's another reason why we wanted to try this cabin: for the HUGE windows, HUGE room, forward room looking out the front of the ship without a public deck and the location on the Lido deck 🙂  We're excited!

As for the shades, we want to leave them open while we sleep, to lay in bed and look at the night sky 🙂  However, if the sunrise is "brutally bright", can we just open the shades a little?  Not sure if the shades are either "all the open" or "all the way closed" and it won't let you open/close partially.

As for the walk, after all the eating we'll do, we need to walk anyway, lol.

    Thanks for your info 🙂

  12. Good morning CC friends!  We leave Monday on the Valor and last night, while surfing the Carnival website, I checked our cruise (which has been sold out) and someone had cancelled a Scenic Oceanview (cabin 9200) so I called Carnival and was able to change cabins and BOOK IT!!!  There are only 2 of these cabins on the entire ship.  Have any of you ever stayed in this cabin, or one similar to it?  From the reviews I've read, it looks amazing!

I have a few questions:  1st question is, for those that have stayed in this cabin, I know the "deck" out front is not a public deck and is only for crew, but do they notify you when crew will be working on the front of the ship?  I just don't want to be sitting in my pjs and some crew member is staring in my window, lol.

2nd question is:  I know the windows must be closed at night if we have the cabin lights on, but can we still leave them open if we only have the tv or bathroom light on?

3rd question is:  I read somewhere that if I'm sitting on the L shaped recliner sofa, the Captains Suite can see me.  From the videos/pics I've seen of the Captains Suite, the balcony is on the opposite end of our cabin and the couches are in front of their windows, so I'm confused as to how they can see in our cabin.

Thanks for your help in answering my questions.  I'm REALLY EXCITED about this cabin, how HUGE it is (320 sq ft) and we're only steps away from the ice cream 😉

  13. Good afternoon,

I'm leaving tomorrow and I've added the Facebook/Social Media package so I can message home. My daughter in law is currently pregnant and I was wondering if I'm able to use the Facebook Call feature and make an actual call, or is the social media package just for messaging? Thanks so much.

  14. It will be on the left as you enter the room. Bed will be on the right. This is based on a picture of 2271 on cruisedeckplans.com which has the desk on the right. EM

Thanks so much! I looked at cruisedeckplans but the statement at the bottom of the page said the room "may not be exactly like picture" so I wasn't sure.

  15. Good morning! This is a strange question but I need some help. I've searched and googled pictures and/or videos and can't find any specific to answer my question. I'm leaving on the Valor on Thursday with a friend. She has a Cpap machine and my husband is helping her with a power strip set up for her machine. I need to know if the counter/desk space is on the left or the right of the room when you walk in the door. Does anyone know this specific answer for cabin 2273? The way he's applying the adhesive strips depends on which way he turns the power strip but he need to know if the counter/desk is on the left or the right as you enter the room? Thanks so much for your help!

  16. This exact same thing happened to me last week, and after 4 days of getting the same message, I call the technical services line for Carnival and they walked me through how to "delete my cookies". As soon as I did that, it worked. So, either go in and "delete your cookies" or call Carnival and they'll help you. :) :D

  17. I'm glad I saw this post because I was just printing out our cruise documents and noticed there's NO health questionnaire and was wondering if something was wrong with my "check in" forms and/or process. We definitely filled them out last year in Galveston, but I guess that's changed. Oh well, one less form to keep up with, LOL.
