  1. Hey there! We will be on the same cruise and are wondering the same thing about Margaritaville. Would love to know if we can get breakfast there.

Hi - I am getting on the Getaway next Sunday, 10/2. I know the Margaritaville is very, very new on the Getaway so if anyone has just gotten off I have two questions: (1) does Margaritaville serve breakfast? free or charge? (2) Are the margaritas included in the UBP?

I also have a couple of questions about Vibe -(1) Do you buy the pass at Guest Services or at Vibe? Everything on cruise critic says to buy at Guest Services. The NCL Rep on the phone told me to go directly to Vibe. (2) I see on here that people don't like that Vibe closes early. But again, NCL rep told me it stays open until 11pm. If anyone just got off, do you know?

Lastly, we are taking our 10 year old son. Hoping for at least a few other kids. Anyone who cruised this week - did you notice many kids?

    Thanks!!

  2. Gotcha! Here's to hoping! Thanks for the quick response:)

we live in Florida and are used to heat but it was between uncomfortable and unbearable during the heat of the day. We took repellant but never saw a mosquito. Hopefully the temps will moderate some for you.

  3. Glad to hear you had such a fun cruise! What were the temperatures like? I know you said it was hot but how hot is hot? :) Also, how bad were the mosquitos? My wife and I have picked up the insect repellent but want to be know what we're heading into.

    Thanks for your review!

  4. Thanks so much for the response! I hasn't considered OBC. It's something to consider but I really only want one for the trip... not long term.

Anyone know if there is a place in Miami that rents?

Not sure if you can rent. One thing to consider is buying if you get a lott of OBC. Just got off RCCL and bought one with my OBC so essentiaslly it was free.
  5. Hi All!

DW and I are heading to the Caribbean in a couple weeks and I was curious if NCL rents Go Pros (or similar underwater cameras) on board? If not, does anyone know if you can rent them in Miami?

Thanks so much for any insight! :D

  6. Completely agree with this. While we occasionally sail RCCL, we much prefer NCL for their overall vibe. Highly recommend them!

I have sailed Epic and Breakaway of the larger NCL ships. I have sailed Oasis and Allure of the larger Royal ships.

Without going into all the possible details that you could comparing the lines I once heard someone put it very succinctly in a way that I agree with.

The Royal Ships are better during the day and The Norwegian ships are better at Night. Basically referring to if you want to do outdoor lounging The Royal Ships have better setups the way they have their pools, hot tubs, Solarium etc. On the flip side Norwegian has better nightlife for bars, dancing, shows, etc.

My one editorial type comment would be that I think you will find the overall "Vibe" to be better on NCL than Royal. People just seem to be way more relaxed and having fun (Not crazy type fun though) For some reason folks sailing on Royal seemed to be a little uptight and not enjoying themselves as much....not sure why as the ships themselves are gorgeous!

  7. Oh you rock! Thanks so much for posting this! Just ordered the filters :D

The coffee maker takes Hamilton Beach style coffee pods. Starbucks doesnt make them, but you can buy sealable filters that will let you make your own pods with any type of coffee you want to bring along. Here is the Amazon link for the filters. You fill them and seal them.

  8. 11828 is a standard sized balcony. The balconies that are bigger on 11 (side) are the ones that are at the point of "bumping out" (triangles on the deck plan) like 11840 which isn't a mini-suite.

Oh man! Thats a bummer. Thanks for the headsup!

  9. The change will take place on Sept 18th. We are on the October 2nd sailing and will have just missed it!

Okay. Now it is me who is late to the discussion. I did not know they were changing the Flamingo Grill to Margaritaville! Just booked on the Getaway for November and was looking forward to the Cuban food at the Flamingo:( Does anyone know when that change is to happen. Hopefully not before November!!
  10. In addition to these points I would add that we have much preferred our experiences with NCL to that of RCCI. NCL has amazing entertainment, great food and awesome crew members. Sign me up :)

It is not difficult in any way shape or form. Here are some of my positives:

    1. Great offers from CAS
    2. The crew is outstanding
    3. The food in the specialty dining rooms is excellent
    4. The entertainment is great
    5. The suite experience is awesome
    6. They added the 18% gratuity to the dining and beverage packages, so those of us who tipped on these don't have to carry cash any longer
    7. Freestyle; you can eat when you want, where you want and with whom you wish
    8. Non-smoking on balconies. Can't wait until the casino is non-smoking
    9. They got rid of Nickelodeon
    10. A la carte pricing. My meal in Cagney's just went from $35 to $26, including gratuity

These are just a few of the positive things for me; there are many more. Everyone is different and what is positive a for me is a negative for another.

  11. Hi All,

I thought I had read somewhere that there are coffee makers in the rooms. Does anyone know if 1) this is true and 2) what size coffee filter they need?

We are staying in a Mini Suite on the Getaway if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance for your help!:D

  12. Thanks so much for posting this! As someone who works for a company with an "Executive Response Team" I can tell you that many companies do respond to the direct feedback from their customers; especially when it comes in a high volume. Keep it up!

In light of the "no more soda/water allowed to be brought on", I wanted to comment about complaints.

IMO, complaining among ourselves will not do much good; yes, venting may help a bit. I don't believe that NCL will the read hundreds of posts about the new carry on policy. They know it won't be popular and are expecting backlash.

I am of the belief that energy/time would be better spent taking your opinions to social media and contacting NCL. Facebook, Twitter, email, and snail mail are some options. Andy Stuart has a Twitter account: AndyStuart@nclandy. NCL is on Facebook with many followers.

I have contacted the woman listed below before with some concerns. She may suggest a better contact for your complaints or questions.

One thing I don't do is embellish, dramatize, exaggerate, nor threaten to leave NCL. Threatening, IMO, is counterproductive almost as bad as cursing!

There is a consumer advocate type website done by Christopher Elliot that has a wealth of info regarding complaints. There is even contact in for NCL. Google is your friend.

I would contact Mark Kansley MKansley@ncl.com and Karl Muhlberger, KMuhlberger@ncl.com

Mark is SVP of Hotel Ops.

Karl is VP of Food and Bev Ops and Development and reports to Mark.

LinkedIn is a wonderful tool to find who is in these positions.

The NCL website Leadership Team page is blank
