The real problem with having a level as high as Zenith is that it fosters a huge expectation, but you'll eventually be let down by the reality that this status really isn't all that great. Just like Lufthansa HON Circle.

Are you Zenith? We love our Zenith benefits and are not disappointed!

  2. We were on the Ascent in March (also on Maiden Voyage in December but veranda cabin then) in Aqua Class which we usually book. Both the food and service in Blu were excellent. We like having the option for their Clean Cuisine. Also, enjoyed Raw of Five for lunch a couple times.

I have always liked the IV which adds extra space to the cabin and has the floor-to-ceiling view. The IV has finally grown on my husband who now likes it for the same reasons I do.

We're there on April 22 on the Reflection.  Along with a giant RCI ship.

I want to hear about Coco Cay and how you enjoyed it. You know where to find me with your report.

  4. A few days ago we had the same issue as I posted before. My husband changed the email address and kept the old password and that worked although it only displayed one of our seven cruises. That worked for a few days, and then this morning it stopped working saying not correct id or password. My husband changed it to password with at least 8 characters and at least one cap, one number, and one special character. It is working for now.

Our favourite beach is on Bonaire resp. Klein Bonaire. Water Taxi to Klein Bonaire is in walking distance from the cruise port. Klein Bonaire is uninhabited and there are no amenities, so it's a paradise.

We also enjoyed the beautiful Klein Bonaire which we did with a Celebrity excursion as cruising had just resumed during the pandemic and we needed to do a Celebrity excursion to get off the ship in Bonaire. How much does it cost per person roundtrip if doing the water taxi on our own? How often does the water taxi run?

RCL certainly seems to be taking advantage of this port change to Norfolk.  I looked at cabin availability and found that there are many unsold/available Veranda class cabins still available for the April 12th cruise and probably the others sched. in April as well.  However, the total cost is ridiculous (with "free gratuities") and  OVER $300 pp/pd  (>$5K for two people on a 7 day cruise??)!!!!

We will pass so others can "enjoy" this ship with unspectacular reviews.

Our thought too. Baltimore is closer to us, but Norfolk is an easier 3.5-hour drive for us through eastern shore Delaware, Maryland, and Viriginia through the Chesapeake Bay tunnel into Viriginia with less traffic and a more pleasant and scenic drive. We know the area well. So we thought perhaps we could squeeze in a last-minute cruise from Norfolk. But not at those prices for a last-minute "filler" cruise.

  7. We have been to Bimini while on a Celebrity cruise but just walked around in the vacation/residential area and out to a bar/restaurant on the beach and great view of our ship in port. Probably an enjoyable 6+ mile walk roundtrip. We really liked that it was not a crowded, overrun port. We will be returning to Bimini on a Celebrity cruise in December. Is Resort World crowded? Worth doing on our own or with Celebrity's shore excursion?

Clearly is a work in progress.

I just was checking dining on a cruise next month.  In the Cruise Planner for each of the restaurants it show a 25% Zenith discount.  Move to make a reservation and in the Reservation Screen it reverts to a 10% discount.

I tried for our January Beyond cruise for Rooftop and it is showing the 25% discount.

  9. Labadee is still on our December Apex itinerary. We booked a Celebrity excursion for Amiga Island. Any thoughts on this? Are we better off to stay on Labadee instead of going to Amiga island or even just stay on the ship?

I suspect that the problem is that when the wine prices were increased past the premium package cap, the consumption dropped. Therefore they reduced their future orders. Since the orders are put in at least a month in advance, now they are not receiving enough new stock of the wines that are back within the package cap.

I was thinking that you made it possible with your influence for the return of Whispering Angel to the Premium Package. I wanted to thank you. We will be on Ascent next month and are hoping they have it in the Retreat Lounge, Grand Bistro (I particularly like to get a rose at lunch there), and Blu. It is a dry rose and not sweet, right?

One of the requirements is you have to send the Administrator Proof that you are Zenith -  e.g.  a screenshot of your CC Account showing your Zenith or a Zenith SeaPass.

Once received approval is rather quick.    The requirement is to keep non-zeniths and spammers out.

Now the admin wants a screenshot of the Zenith Sea Pass card as proof because she recently experienced potential scammers with the CC account screenshot where two different people sent her the same screenshot!

The Northeast deployments will be released the week of February 12.

Thank you! Looking forward to seeing if they offer the similar cruise (Boston to Boston with Canada and Greenland) for 2025 and if we want to switch to that Brillance cruise if offered or stay with the 2025 Iceland/Greenland to Boston cruise with Celebrity Silhouette that we recently booked.

We are still hoping for Boston to Boston with Greenland for September 2025.We would consider an Oceanview, Balcony, or Junior Suite if that itinerary is similar for 2025 as it is for 2024 on Jewel. I looked at the Brillance deck plan. It looks like all Junior Suites are aft and mid-ship on deck 10. Is that correct? None are forward cabins? And all are on deck 10? The reason I ask is we would consider a Junior Suite guarantee if we know we would not be assigned a forward Junior Suite (prefer aft but mid-ship okay too).

I'm not seeing a Boston RT for 2025.....

Any idea when the Brilliance cruises from Boston for September 2025 will be deployed for booking? We are still holding out hope that Brillance could do a Boston to Boston cruise with Canada and Greenland similar to Jewel's 2024 cruise. I am hoping the cruise will be after the Brilliance TA from Southhampton to Boston. Meanwhile, we booked Celebrity Silhouette's cruise for Reykjavik to Boston with Greenland and Canada in route for August 2025. But we will still consider the Brilliance cruise if it materializes.

  14. I can check out about wine in Retreat lounge on Beyond starting Monday. We will be in Aqua Class on this sailing so cannot check out the Retreat sundeck or Luminae as we only have Retreat lounge access for being Zenith. We have been in Retreat/suite class before but not for this sailing. I will be checking out wine list in Blu too.

It was on the last sea day last week on the Ascent. We didn’t go but others went and said it was a zoo with people lined up 30 deep to get the lobster. They said it looked phenomenal if you could deal with all the people pushing and shoving to get their instagram pics and food.

Our cruise on the Ascent ended Dec. 24th and the sea food buffet was on the last sea day, Dec. 23rd. It was a total zoo to say the least!! Buffet was supposed to open at noon. People were lined up before 11:30 am. Lines at noon were 30 to 40 deep. No plates left by the time you reached the beginning of where the food started. Different lines at the stations had different seafood items. Many people were in the wrong line for the items you wanted. No organization at all. After 40 years of cruising, it was the worse fiasco I have ever seen! People that were lucky enough to be in the correct line for the items they wanted, left the line with 2 plates of lobsters and raw shrimp piled to the brim! After a few sailings before our cruise, you would expect better organization from Celebrity and if not, do away with this free for all! Might have been better to add a $10 p/p surcharge at this point to control the crowd.

The seafood lunch was on the last day (December 9th) of the Ascent Maiden Voyage cruise ending on December 10th. We did not go for fear it would be a madhouse. We opted for a nice quiet lunch at Grand Bistro instead!

I  have read  the Mer  Soleil is only to be sold by the bottle. It will be very interesting if you can get a glass at any price.

I don't drink Mer Soleil; it's not my style of Chardonnay. So I hadn't paid any real attention to it. But I don't see it listed by the glass in any venue on Ascent's current sailing.

They were happy to charge us $2.40 per person, per glass on our Ascent Maiden Voyage. 😁 We did not get surcharged for it in Retreat on embarkation day, which was the only time we had it there.

In other words, there will not be any Decoy, etc available in the Lounge.

    4 hours ago, 39august said:

I think Jelayne is correct, That just means no drinks that are above the premium price will be served in the Retreat Lounge.

Please know that what is served within the Retreat is included in the premium package.

The way I interpret LHB's reply is what is stocked in Retreat will be included without an upcharge. May be Premium package only, and if we are lucky, some of the wines at $19 for which they would not surcharge us. If they have to bring it to Retreat per your request, you would be surcharged. This is how I am interpreting LHB's reply.

That J&H Selbach Reisling? I buy it for 15 a bottle in its generic name. But now that they have the really cheap Chateau St Michelle moved from classic to premium, I am concerned that the J&H will  be the 2.40 more. Win win for X, the cheap bottle is in the premium meaning an upchage of you want resiling while on ship and only have the classic, or the upcharge for the $15 bottle in the premium.

On the December 3rd Ascent Maiden Voyage, I requested and was served the J&H Selbach Reisling without an upcharge. Sometimes I was told it was not available. I looked at the bottle before they poured, and it was Selbach. Hope it stays that way that there is no upcharge for the Selbach Reisling.

We always get it by the glass unless something changed since December 10th when we debarked Ascent (same on other X ships too).
