The All Inclusive drinks package has never been available on Australia based cruises, so I don't know how the bartender could have witnessed this supposed abuse.

Also keep in mind that ports are never guaranteed, so if for some reason the ship is unable to call to Moorea, you won't be able to disembark until Papeete.

Typically Princess will first try to fill suites with upsells, rather than free upgrades. Whether or not you receive an upsell offer or upgrade has a lot more to do with the category you're currently booked into (and whether Princess can quickly resell that category) than your loyalty status.

While people seem to have this vision of someone sitting in an office carefully scrutinizing available cabins and who to upgrade, the reality is that it's almost completely done by the computers using yield management programs.

If OP's TA didn't fill in the birthdates when the booking was made, that may be why they can't get into the CP yet.

I cannot find a list, I am not sure what "onesource" is I am getting the standard "call back later" answer from Princess. I am interested in the Feb 7 out of San Francisco. Any idea if it is available?

OneSource is Princess's site for travel agents, at book.princess.com. If it's up there, it should be available to Princess's reps, also. I'd try pasting the whole thing here, but it's huge.

I'm trying to book one for the Island Feb 4. We were told it was available, but not bookable until 120 days out. When we tried to book it then, we were told it was not available and that whoever (Jamie) had told us that was mistaken. MY TA was pretty upset about the way it was handled. The second rep she talked to was pretty rude (she had us on speaker).

The list is up on the travel agent site now. I don't see one on Island Princess on February 4th available. It goes from January 20th then the next one is February 19th.

That's where any email you send to Jan Swartz would end up anyway.

The only ships with connecting cabins (excluding the Family Suites) are Coral, Diamond, Island, Ocean, Pacific, and Sapphire.

You can't see connecting rooms in the "interactive" deck plans on Princess.com, but you can see them in the cruise atlas deck plans.

That's wrong. As soon as the upgrade goes through, the cabin is put into inventory. There's a reason Princess calls this automatic complimentary upgrades.

The language on the upgrade notice you receive specifically says "If you choose to decline, please notify us within 48 hours, and we will attempt to return you to your original cabin."

Key word -- attempt. There's no promise you can get the cabin back, and they're not holding it waiting for you to contact them.

If you leave your booking open to upgrades thinking you can pick and choose whether you like an offered upgrade, you take the risk of losing your cabin.

As others have posted, marking your cabin "no upgrade" isn't a guarantee that you won't get moved, either, but then you should have a much stronger argument that you deserve your cabin back.

That seems like a pretty good offer, considering they don't have to offer anything at all for changes caused by weather.

I totally understand your disappointment, but it seems like Princess us trying to work out a terrible situation the best they can.

Have you contacted Princess and asked if you will get a full refund if you cancel? I'd be very surprised if they aren't allowing that in a situation like this, but they probably won't spell it out in their communications because they do still want to encourage people to sail.

Perhaps you should talk to Princess and fully explore your options.

What you're looking for is called a "meta upgrade only." This refers to upgrades from one cabin category to another - inside to oceanview, oceanview to balcony, balcony to mini-suite, etc.

They won't offer this as an option unless you specifically ask for it. Though it won't solve your problem of wanting to keep cabins together.
