They clarified on Facebook the other day that the prepayment requirement is for Fall 2017 voyages onward, which is why people going to Alaska this summer aren't having to prepay.
-
Hold on, maybe they can get
to take on the case. :D
Like that's hard! ;)

Can anybody tell me is there any automatic gratuity on Sun Princess sails from Australia?
If you live in Australia and book through the Australia office, no. If you live elsewhere and book through the North America or UK office, yes.

Why I am asking, as a solo passenger (no one would not know about my cruises except travel agent) if anything happen (illness, accident) to me that I could not cancel before final payment, what would happen to my deposit?
You woukd lose your deposit and your booking would cancel.

Thank you for the clarification. I wish there was a way they could make it so people could disembark from a cruise ship and re embark on the same ship to make it possible. I get the other instances where it might impede on U.S. regulations for ferries, but cruise ships are different. Just my opinion and like I said not an expert in any way shape or form.

If the ship overnights in port and you exit the ship for a full 24 hours (fully disembarking and taking all your stuff with you, and staying at a hotel at your own expense) it breaks the chain. That unit an option most of the time, though.

Starting with the Summer 2018 season, they're actually selling British Isles R/T Le Havre voyages.

When I put the photo package in my cart is was $99. When I went to pay for the package it was now $199. I called Princess and was told the package had gone up to $199 on March 1st. The Princess person said they were not told the price was going up. My complaint was that the price was raised after the item was in the cart. The price to buy the package on the ship is now $249.
That's how online shopping works - if I put something in my cart on Amazon and come back the next day to buy it, if the price has changed that's what I'm charged.

Princess states they will be too busy to open a dining room on that day??? Have put a tag on all bookings
Many times when boarding I have heard employees directing everyone to The Court that no dining room was open on embarkation, but when I went physically to investigate there was one open. ?
That sounds like the standard language in their staggered boarding email, something like "after boarding enjoy Horizon Court"? It doesn't mean the dining room will be closed.

We had a hard time arranging to have the ashes brought on board because we wanted to do it in a port. We had to appeal to that port- and the only one that said ok with St. Thomas. We had to get permission from the port, the cruise and also from the port in the states that we were leaving from. We had to have a certificate of cremation and also the death certificate.
If I had it to do again I would not have asked and just done it- though you have to think about it coming back in the ship or on someones balcony.
You can get in a whole lot of trouble for throwing things off the ship.

Fortified wines (like vermouth and port) are not allowed.

Assuming there's space, the latest you can book is usually the day before the cruise. You used to be able to book day-of, but that's tougher now because of port security requirements.

If you disembark in Vancouver and get on a DIFFERENT ship to go to Alaska, you're fine. If you get right back on the same ship? Nope, it's a PVSA violation.

Perhaps the door locks shown were just promo and not the actual doors that will be on the ship. We have seen and heard stuff in the video that is not coming to fruition. ..or perhaps that is what it will look like only on the new build majestic princess. I believe someone said on here not to believe all we see in these videos.
Or the new cruise cards will have RFID like they have in some hotels - you don't have to insert your key card, just hold it up to the lock.
-
On a sea day or a port day? Dining rooms have been closed for lunch on port days for some time now.
-
The only place you'd be able to get off a round trip Seattle cruise besides Seattle at the end would be Victoria, British Columbia. Any US Port would violate the PSA.

Uh, not quite. If you don't book "Medallion Class", then shouldn't you get the usual card? I certainly don't intend to upgrade my booking at this time. (We're already booked on Caribbean Princess in March 2018.)
Once it goes into effect on a given ship, the whole ship has Medallion Class service.

The only fob I carry around with me is my over sized nose. I sure don't need to be tethered to some electronic gizmo to enjoy my cruise. I guess age does have it's advantages - freedom from the constant reliance on technology. I have done quite well for over 60 years without it. I think I can survive another cruise without some gimmicky doodad I have to worry about the entire time.
Is carrying around something the size of a quarter really that much more difficult than carrying around a cruise card?
-
That leaves the 13th, OP asked what the ship was doing the 12th.

Personally I would rather see Princess enhance other aspects of their onboard product using technology - especially related to ATD! But that's another thread altogether :o
Well, this may give them solid data on the behavior of TD dining folks who crash ATD, so it may actually lead to improvements there, as well!

The new Medallion thing debuts on Royal on November 13, so they're probably doing some sort of big launch party? Or running around the ship trying to get all the wires connected?
-
And then -- if I wish to receive a drink as soon as I arrive in the theater after dinner the waiter and I must know WHERE I will be seated. Does this mean we will then be required to select a seat in advance? Must I then arrive at a predetermined time? ???????
That's where the tracking sensors that "see" the medallion come in, they'll be able to tell where you're sitting.

We can give a debit card, however with a foreign cruise there will be currency conversion fees. With our FlexPerks Travel Visa, there are no conversion fees so this will really cost us. (Conversion fees are per transaction fees that are above and beyond the normal cost of currency conversion where everyone up charges you anyway. On top of that you get a fixed fee or another % of the transaction for conversion.)
Has anyone gotten around this in any other way?
If it's only for charges made on the ship, you can maybe get around it by buying OBC in advance of your cruise, and using that to pay your statement at the end of the cruise?

You should as the Club Class benefits for full-suite passengers are supposed to be in addition to the benefits you already receive.
The PDF at http://www.princess.com/learn/ships/staterooms/club-class/ says the wine is for mini-suites only, as full suites already have the complimentary mini-bar.

Good luck! Let us know what happens!

The TA is usually considered the last voyage of the previous season, I think. So that would be a summer voyage, the first voyage fully back in the US would be fall.
