Both reviews very well done! Great pictures and informative.
Thank you!

You may consider Long Beach which is not too far away from the San Pedro port. There is a Hilton, Westin, Courtyard and others.
just a thought….

One night in, and I really feel like this town is a hidden gem. It’s so picturesque and clean and laid back and friendly. Not remotely overrun by tourists, out of the way waaaaay to the east near the Slovenian border. People go to Rome, Florence, Venice… no one comes to Trieste. Take advantage of that while you can, because this place is wonderful.
Exactly. A hidden gem!
Dinner looked fantastic and apparently it was!
As always thanks for the great live…

“Every time someone with a carryon comes in…. B: “must be nice to have a carryon”
That’s funny!
Have another round. Hopefully it will help with a little sleep as long as all of those kids taking up all of the overhead storage are orderly and quiet 😉

You said it. I’m thinking that was overwhelmed desk agent and not company policy, but you never know. Air France doesn’t have a huge presence here, but the two desks they do have were getting beat up pretty badly over this policyAs you say, you're booked all the way through with AF and a decent layover at CDG so less chance of a SNAFU. You’re both great folks so karma is with you both!
Enjoy a few more coc, coc, coc cocktails and all will be right in the world!

So we move an AirTag into our essentials carry on, B tries to argue to no avail, being told that “the overhead space on a full flight is for those with kids.” Ouch.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot???

Okay. I think we have this packing thing mostly down. Big checked bag and carry on roller - both of us with half of each…. And enough essentials to get by in the carryon in case, well, you know. For now both air tags are in the big one for redundancy.. I’ll put one in the carry one when we check in at the pier in Trieste. 🤞
See the plastic straws, but no What-A -burger spicy ketchup like Saint Greg?
Safe and uneventful travels for you both across the pond!

Unfortunately Celebrity continues to disappoint. Our last Celebrity cruise was in December of 2023. We mostly had one or two future cruises booked. We’re Elite Plus, but nowhere near Zenith likes of the @Jim_lian and other Zeniths who have started to venture away from Celebrity.
Since last December we’ve sailed HAL, Princess and Viking. We have two HAL, one Princess and one more Viking booked for 2024. Looking again at Seabourn and also Explora. Haven’t even looked/considered Celebrity due to recent management and pricing models.
Celebrity was our “go to” line, but no longer. As many on the boards have said very sad to say.

Following along as usual.
Great itinerary, but you will be looking forward to that day 9 sea day for some R&R. Enjoy and best of luck with the air tags!

For those able to drive to the port in San Pedro (we live just up the California coast so no air needed) . . .
Have any of you parked your car there? Is there a facility? I seem to remember that some friends parked at the cruise terminal, but can't remember about price and availability.
Thanks!
We live in San Diego and used the terminal parking for 2 Celebrity cruises in 2023 and 1 Princess cruise in February of this year.
The cost was $20 a day and convenient to both terminals at the port.
However, a caution. When departing the lot in February we did see a few cars with smashed windows being assisted by police. Unsure if this was a “one off” since we hadn’t seen this in our prior two visits, or if it was the start of a new trend. Hopefully the port has, or is, addressing the security.

Paul,
Thank you for another great live even after the recent loss of your Dad. As others have highlighted very difficult times, but you’ll always have the memories.
Thank you again for the great review, and happy to see you made it home safely.
all the best….

Yes; the only problem is my flight lands at 9pm and it’s a 2 hour drive home and I have to get up at 6:10 to do the reverse of that same drive, to go to work.
Possibly get an inexpensive hotel room nearby work for the night and avoid the additional travel?

Thanks to all for your advice and experiences. I know we stop in Wrangall so that must be our optional port. I didn't know about the different itineraries. Can't wait - I know we will have a great time.
Wrangall is one of our favorite Alaska ports. Not yet commercialized like many others have become. Laid back and easy to walk to many local sights after taking any tours which may be provided. A hidden gem IMHO…

Another thumbs up for Wrangell. Excellent stop!

I loved the "Path Between the Seas" about the orig canal ..long book but was very complete...We enjoyed our partial transit but thinking about a full...e to w.
hcat,
Agree with you. “Path Between the Seas” was long, very detailed, but an excellent read. Read it prior to our canal transit last year on the HAL Niew Amsterdam.
