I don't know why but I thought more passengers would be getting on and off in Rome. Did someone on the ship give you that number? Do you know if that will be the standard percent going forward? I would guess RC would try to keep the cabins full so it makes sense it would be
I've read that same approximate stat (80/20) for the cruise overall this summer a few different places. Apparently, the cruise is considered a Barcelona to Barcelona route, with Rome only being a mid point embarkation.
I'm sure a more experienced cruiser can explain that better than I can and use proper terminology. :D

The first Mamma Mia show is on June 20th, the final sea day of the 14th June sailing.
I can confirm this - as we have a reservation for the 20th. :)
-
Awhile back, there was a series called "Dream Cruises" that included an episode on Allure of the Seas. The channel (on AT&T Uverse) was something like "AWE", if that helps.
-
It's a "Greatest Hits" sort of day on CC - between this thread, the water dispenser thread and the drink package thread, there's all sorts of fun to be had today.
-
I assume the 4:30pm show is a sea day?
No, it's an early departure day - Allure leaves 4pm from Palma de Mallorca that day.
-
I just booked for our departure day June 21st.
Showtimes available for the 2.5 hour show to me on the June 21st sailing were the following:
6:30 PM June 21st
4:30 PM June 22nd
8:00 PM June 23rd
I assume there are more than 3 shows a week but perhaps the ability to reserve one is predicated on if you get on board in Barcelona or Rome.
Feel fairly lucky that we will be able to see the show.
We're on the June 18th sailing (out of Rome) and have 2 shows on June 20th as well, along with the dates you list. :)

Hi there.
We will be on her on June 18 also. Have our days planned except Marseilles. Any thoughts?
So far, we haven't planned anything for Marseilles. We might wait until we're on the ship to decide on that one. Maybe just a short (3-4 hour) tour of the general area.

We board in Rome a few days after steams boats so she will make sure they are done prior to our arrival. ;) There is a five day sailing prior to Carmen getting on so they have almost 2 weeks before we board. I can only hope they will be done most of it. :)
Looks like the rest of the carpet is covered and the store fronts are wrapped up as well.
EDIT: so long as both the flowriders are running I will be happy.
Looks like we're a couple weeks after you, so keep her clean for us! :D

We board June 21st. Can't wait to see the changes made during dry dock!
We're on board the 18th - doing the Rome to Rome version. :D

Great pics from Jamaica!
We did the Blue Hole tour with Liberty as well, although ours was a little different - we did the rope swing into the Blue Hole and the "secret falls" (including jumping from the very top), but no tubing and we did stop by Scotchies - which was really good!).
The only problem we had was that a family with us got angry at Ricardo when they found out they didn't have a private tour, so our family and one other family got separated from them and went with Rose Marie, who was nice, but I think at the time, she was pretty new, because we got lost on the way to Blue Hole.
I am glad we were separated from the other family, though, as they seemed pretty miserable and I think we were better off without them.

Current rumor right now that I've seen is that Mama Mia might not start until a couple weeks in the Med routes.
I'm on the June 18th Rome sailing and the last rumor I've read is that Mama Mia will start on the June 15th sailing (from Barcelona). Obviously, I'm hoping that's true.
Either way, I would assume that nothing will be available to book until dry dock is complete.

Here's what I show (we're on the Jun-18 sailing Rome to Rome):
Standup Comedy Show: Pretty much every night, 7:30pm, 9:30pm and 11:30pm
Headliner Showtime: Thursday - 9pm and 11pm, Wednesday - 10:45pm
Blue Planet: Friday - 9pm and 11pm, Saturday - 7:30pm
Ice Games: Saturday - 8:30pm and 10:30pm, Monday - 7:30pm and 9:30pm, Tuesday - 9pm
Ocean Aria: Sunday - 9pm and 11pm, Monday - 9:15pm and 11pm, Tuesday - 7:30pm and 9:30pm
Nothing listed yet for the Broadway show - the speculation right now is that it will be mid-June when Mama Mia is added, but nothing official yet.
-
For reference, anyone able to book shows who are sailing Jun 14th or later?
Sailing June 18th (out of Rome) and nothing yet, but I'm not sure if I should expect to see anything prior to dry dock.
-
We booked a room next door to ours (but not connected) for our upcoming cruise in June for our 14 and 9 year old.
-
Cool! I think the Allure in the Western Med is a very similar itinerary that we had on the Epic. That trip will forever be my trip of a lifetime, I'm sure of it! :D
I think it's nearly the exact same itinerary! I've been reading the whole thing - taking notes along the way. :D
Like your Europe trip, we're going with my parents (as well as my MIL), so it definitely should be the trip of a lifetime, you're right. :)
-
Following along - and in the meantime, I'm reading your European adventure as well, since we're sailing Allure in June through the Western Med. with our 14 and 10 year olds.

Only been on one RCI cruise, but we went to the M&M. Partially, I was hoping to put some names to faces, but I was also hoping that my kids would meet a kid or two around their age (there were a number of kids on the cruise - Thanksgiving week). Unfortunately, no other kids came to the M&M, just adults, so that part was a bust. :(
-
That timing sounds odd. It would make sense to start with Mama Mia (or any new show) when they come out of drydock in May. If the June 14th date is correct, I wonder what they'll be doing for a Broadway-style show for the month of May?
-
Are they the same route? If so, then yeah, the only thing I can think of is that Sunday departures are more popular.
-
Yah...let us know when/if you see Mamma Mia in its place :)
Will do :)
Right now, there's no Broadway-type show listed at all, but I'll be checking every day or two to see when something takes Chicago's place. :)
-
Just got e-mails from RCI saying Chicago was cancelled for our June cruise, so I assume this is the first step in changing it our during dry dock?
-
Well, if nobody can book anything yet, you're not missing out on anything.
-
They get their tips whether you show or not. They tell you "wear what you want" because no one, most especially the cruise line, except a select few on this board cares what others wear. Period.
Highlighted for emphasis :)
My kids wore pants and golf shirts for most MDR dinners, but we let them wear golf shorts one night. Formal nights, they did wear shirts and ties, but we also wanted to get formal pics done before dinner as well, so we had them dressed nicer.
In general, I would think as long as someone is not really sloppily dressed, nobody is going to bat an eye.
-
They probably thought it was the sequel to Chicago. :D
:D :D :D - well played, sir.

We embark in Rome the week after you (on the 18th), so I'm interested to hear about your experience as well. :)
