  1. Thank you.  We will be going to Aruba and Curacao and Grand Turks and I certainly don't anticipate them traveling to other continents.  I'm really just looking at the ease of getting on and off the ship in Canaveral - as opposed to using birth certificates.  The rest of us have passports.  Again, thank you

  2. My son and grandson are going with me on my Nov cruise.  It may be their only cruise so I am thinking of passport cards instead of passport books.  Closed loop, Caribbean.  I know many of you are going to tell me to just go with passports.  However, it's hard enough for some folks to be able to afford cruising, so if the passport card will get them on and then back off the ship, I'm  going to suggest that instead of using their birth certificates and IDs.  I'm pretty sure it will work but would appreciate hearing from some that used that form of ID.  Thank you in advance

  3. I go to "my offers"  and then "show my deals" then "vifp club members offers".  It then says "shop now".  I put in my criteria of dates and port and the cruise im interested in. But it wants me to go thru the  process of booking the cruise and says "code" will appear at checkout.  But if I go to that point and it doesn't show the discounted rate, can I back out without completing?

  4. Thanks to both of you.  I probably would have guessed about $6 - but this makes it much simpler and better than my guesses.  (but still cheaper than my bourbon).

  5. I've been on about 18 carnival cruises - and while there is occasionally something I don't care for on the buffet OR in the MDR - I have no complaints.   When I cook at home, it doesn't always come out perfect - and I'm just cooking for 2.   Can't imagine cooking for hundreds or more.

  6. First of all - I'm NOT new to Carnival - but honestly have never been a beer drinker.  But I'm taking a "newbie" this year - and she prefers beer over mixed drinks.   She's trying to lay out a bit of a budget to make sure everything is covered moneywise - and was asking about the price of beer.  NO, she does not drink anywhere near enough to get the drink package.   And I realize there is probably various beer brands - at different prices.   But let's just go with the normal, common beers.  Can I get an estimate??

    Thanks very much

  8. Is there a coffee bar on the Vista?  They typically have hot an cold coffee as well as a few wonderful desserts you can buy and we frequent it nearly every evening or morning. Seems like we have had one on every ship we have sailed, but I cannot find it on the deck plans for the Vista.  Typically, it's on either 3, 4, or 5

  9. My grandson (an adult) is going with us next year on his first cruise.   He does VAPE at home, and I'm just trying to find out if he can do so on the ships in the regular smoking areas.  Not vaping marijuana - just a vape as opposed to a cigarette.

  10. We will be taking our next cruise from Port Canaveral. To get there, we are coming from Richmond to Orlando via Amtrak.  Any suggestions on the best way to get from the Amtrak station to Cocoa Beach to our hotel? There will be 5 of us and arriving late morning. We haven't chosen a hotel yet, but it will be in Cocoa Beach.

  11. Thank you all so much.   My main concern was if it was going to be an issue getting on the ship with the scattering tube. WE are going by Amtrak (only 3 hours away) so we should not have any screening issue.  I am now convinced the carry on is the best way to go.  Again, my thanks.

  12. I will be taking my late husband's ashes onboard soon to be scattered, but could use some advice.  I have a scattering tube, and while it is not huge, 4 x89 cylinder, I'm trying to decide if it should be placed in my suitcase and delivered, or should I carry it in my backpack that will be carried in with me.  It's a little heavier than I expected, so I am leaning toward the suitcase, but I don't know if it will be something that will cause them to decide they need to open the suitcase for inspection.  It's not metal - but totally biodegradable material. And it will take a sizeable space in my suitcase.   Any of you that have had  experience with this, I would appreciate your input.

    Thank you

  13. We have several cabins reserved for a  new booking, and I want to add them as "companions" for dinner, etc.  I've tried adding email addresses as it shows on the "Order Detail Page" - but the email is not going through to the various people.  I "think" this is how I did is before, but it's been awhile and I thought maybe they have changed how it works.  Am I missing something?

  14. Thanks again for all the suggestions and clearing up some issues.   I will have a credit card with me (just in case) - but I do not intend to use it unless absolutely necessary.  We each have a very small amount of credit from when we booked our cruise.  (I think it's $25 each) and we have prepaid our tips, so that will not eat up our account.   A couple of our cruises, they actually took our cash when we checked in.   But typically, they do not.  It's only a 5 day cruise, and I don't use a lot of cash.  An occasional drink, specialty coffee and a little in the casino each day.   We'll talk it over and decide, but your replies have verified some things for me.   So thank you very much

  15. I don't use Credit Cards - I recently lost my husband, so I'm trying to keep my life as simple as possible, and that means I don't charge things.  By using cash, I don't tend to "over spend".   My friend is going on her first cruise, so while I am Platinum and can use the faster/shorter line, I assume she cannot, even though we are roommates.   But if we can do it through the Kiosk if necessary, then that is good news.

    Thanks for the advice
