  1. Hi

Sorry for the late thread but my wife and I are getting a cruise early August and have Been to Rome before so was thinking of staying near the cruise port. We were looking at Villa Terennia in Tarquinia to stay but they want €50 to take us to the port. Does anyone have any experience of this town/hotel or recommendations for airport transfers?

    Many thanks

I've been very pleased with the services of Taxi Civitavecchia

    http://www.taxicivitavecchia.com/en/servizi/taxi-service/

very reasonable private airport transfer as well as service while in town as well. There are several hotels to chose from, all in the 3 star category, but clean and good service. I would recommend Hotel Miramar and Hotel San Giorgio if you book direct with Hotel San Giorgio your port shuttle is included and with Hotel Miramar they will set up for you for €10.

  2. Thought this might help....

    Behaviour and clothing

Out of respect for other visitors and in order to maintain an atmosphere of contemplation suitable for a place of worship, you are asked not to raise your voice during your visit. During the visit you are asked to behave politely, and refrain from forming crowds or running on the site.

Visitors are asked to conduct themselves respectfully and dress decorously.

For safety, no hats are allowed inside the nave or the museum except for religious, health or belief-related reasons.

No smoking or eating is allowed anywhere on the site. Drinks may only be consumed outside the building. Visitors are asked to keep the site clean and not drop litter.

Visitors are asked to be respectful when viewing heritage and museum pieces.

Acts of protest or political demonstration are strictly prohibited anywhere on the Sagrada Familia site.

Visitors will not be allowed to enter with special clothing to celebrate any sort of festivities, nor with any decorations designed to distract or draw attention for artistic, religious, promotional or any other purposes.

In the space set aside for prayer and reflection in the Chapel of the Eucharist in the ambulatory and throughout the Altar zone, visitors may not enter wearing:

-Trousers, dresses or skirts that don’t fully cover the knees when seated or standing

    -Shorts

-Sleeveless t-shirts, vests, tank tops, crop tops or other shirts exposing the belly or shoulders

-Shirts with sleeves not reaching the elbow

    -Plunging necklines

    -Beachwear

-Bright colours or flashy clothes that could be a distraction

    -Transparent clothing

  3. I would recommend the early entrance time the earlier the better and less crowds, plan on roughly 2 hours for visiting including the tower. Now this time frame may be differ from everyone based on how you like to tour. Park Guell is an easy 35-40 minute walk from here or you can take the metro but know that you will have to transfer stations, I suggest walking if you are up to it, lots to take in on the walk too!

  4. A few years ago when I first cruised on Azamara I was happy to find and join our roll call. We were able to join up on two wonderful private tours and meet some lovely people. So for our upcoming October cruise I decided to start our roll call and plan some private excursions, its been fun for me and hope the little extras I post might help someone new to Azamara or at least meet some new friends wishing to join us on our tours.

  5. What tour company would you recommend for small parties? Everywhere I look, you only get a deal if you have at least 6-8 people.

DH prefers a guided tour. He is not interested in doing trains, buses, ferries. He doesn't feel confident enough for us to go on our own since this is new territory.

Annette take a look at Prestige we have used them before for a private tour but I know they also offer tour sharing....I highly recommend them take a look at their site.... Jo Ann

  6. We always stay at FLL- Embassy Suites-17th ST. when we cruise out of FLL-we have Hilton points-so it is a free stay-we like the hotel-BUT thinking of trying a different Hilton property-we have a car-so we park at port-we get off as self assist-to get on road to go home ASAP. Anyone stay at DEERFIELD-it is closer to beach- Is it nicer than FLL?-also looking at Doubletree in FLL.We like Embassy Suites-my husband needs less sleep-likes the separate living room-to retreat as I sleep longer. Thanks-

If I can be any help, I live here in south Florida, while Deerfield Beach is nice it's about 30 plus minutes from the port, depending on traffic, so if you choose to stay here don't drive during normal rush hour 95 is crazy. I wouldn't recommend the Hilton as its right off the highway and more of a businessman hotel where as the Embassy Suites is right on the ocean and within walking distance to some nice restaurants. There really is no great perk to staying in Deerfield unless you want beachfront. For convenience Fort Lauderdale, all depending on what you are looking for. Enjoy!

  7. Look at some of the offerings from Athleta. The City and Metro collections have some nice comfy pants that work for travel. I have a pair of the Metro slouch from about 5 years ago that served me well on those flights from the US to Rome and back!

Also, look at Sahalie online - they may have some comfy travel pants also.

Thank you for the tips, I like what Athleta has to offer!

We enjoyed a lovely AzAmazing evening here 2 weeks ago. It was a slightly cooler evening and everyone was dressed for a night out. Women in nice dresses and pant suits and many men in jackets. It was very nice to see everyone dressed nicely. There will be a short walk from the buses to the theatre on slightly uneven pavement so keep in mind when planning your shoes. The 3 Tenors were full of life and the evening went off just perfectly!

  9. Live from Quest now in Monaco......it appears everyone is on board safely. Damage has been assessed, reported a 7-8 in crack 12ft above the waterline. We will be leaving here by-passing St Tropez and arriving in Marseille later this evening. Awaiting an update from Captain Carl..I'll try to report before we set sail. Other than that what a wonderful time we are having, crew is fantastic and couldn't ask for anything more!

  10. Maybe a silly question, but.........just off the phone with AT&T with regard to setting up an international plan, they informed me that Azamara offers an international cruise ship package, as well as the global international plan offered by ATT. My question is since our cruise is mostly port intensive (Mediterean) while on the ship docked in port, am I connected to the cruise ship coverage or the international plan. I'm thinking I just need the one plan for Global International but you know how sales people are they want you to purchase the whole thing! Any guidance would be appreciated.

  11. does anyone know around what a standard 45 -60 min basic massage typically goes for? is it around the same as celebrity/princess/rccl or do you think it's more?

we have some cruise credits for our first azamara cruise and just trying to decide what we should spend it on :) we're not wild about most of the shore excursions and not sure the drink package upgrade is worth it although i do love my caipirinhas :)

    thanks!

Hi, I just recently looked on the Azamara website, as we are planning our trip too! They have all the prices listed for spa services go to Your Voyage, then to On Board Packages, then to Spa Packages and then finally to Spa E-Book and....Voila you arrived..... If I reminder correctly it's $169 for a 75 min Swedish....but take a look..... Jo Ann

  12. Just got off the phone with Azamara and speaking to a very pleasant rep Jason and he is emailing me a copy of the PDF land tours for our Quest May 7,14 sailing. If anyone needs a copy please let me know and I will be happy to forward it to you.

  13. We are just in the process of finalizing what excursions we would like to book thru Azamara as we will need to book them no later than Dec 31 if we want to take advantage of the 25 percent savings that was offered to us when we booked.

One of the excursions we were planning has been removed and another person on our roll call mentioned that one of their excursions has been cancelled.

I'm now trying to download a new brochure to VIEW what is available to book and there is no brochure available for our sailing.

    bizarre.

    frustrating.

    annoying.

Yes I too was trying to do the same tonight as the cut off time is getting close. I found I actually had to go into the booking area to see what was available but the extended descriptions are not there just what the tours are and the prices. Very frustrating indeed!
