  1. Can someone tell me what are supplied in suite cabins please, going in a few weeks and trying to keep the weight down in the luggage. TIA

Last year when we traveled on the Star we stayed in a suite. They provide soap, shampoo and conditioner in pumps on the wall in the shower, bath salts for your tub and then a few upgraded bath and beauty products for your use that are not standard in non suite cabins. No need to overpack these items unless you have a favorite from home you can't live without. you are also provided with a bathrobe and slippers for your use.

  2. Does anyone know whether taking the NCL Shuttle Bus will be counted towards the Shore Excursion Credits? Just wondering whether it is worthwhile taking their bus for $15 and get the credit or take the local bus for $5.

Taking the shuttle does not count as a shore excursion. You can do a shore excursion that ends in a transfer to the airport if one is offered in the port you disembark but you can not use the shore excursion credit to pay for just the NCL transfer.

  3. Hello,

We are NCL cruisers who purchased the cc. As of today we have 39,930 points. Since I've paid the charges we've made this month they show as 'pending'. Am I to understand that I need to wait until they have posted before I contact World Points Reps?

Has anyone used points for their children to sail free? 40,000 pts. Is there anything I need to know before I call asking for kids to sail free? We want to book a balcony cabin but only if the kids are free. So, since July sailings are less than 90 days and we are in the final payment time frame I'm hesitant to book until after I speak with the World Points agent.

    Any advice?

    Thanks so much,

    Kim

I have not used my points for children sailing free so I can't help with that question. In terms of the points being available for you to use, you have to wait until they post to your account when your billing cycle ends for the month. After your statement closing date you can call the world points rep to apply them.

  4. Thanks for the replies. We have a forward balcony on deck 9 so really looking forward to the cruise.

We have three speciality dinners who were free when we booked. Can these be shared amongst our friends and family who are travelling or not, and does your room card have your photo on it.

The speciality dinners are assigned to a specific person and can not be shared amongst your friends and family.

  5. Am I missing something here? If I leave my points on my account, pay for all of my on-ship expenses with my NCL Mastercard, then move points to a cash credit on my account, I'll earn three points per $ on the charges. If I move my points to OBC, I come home without a bill, but no more points. Yes? It seems too good to be true. I know about the upgrades but don't think I'll hit $60,000 in time.

    Sounds about right:)

  6. I would be shocked if he was allowed to board with you if his parents are not there at the time. It would require more paperwork at a minimum because if his parents didn't show for some reason he would be not be able to sail without them. Calling NCL would be the best way to find out and then if they say you can do it I would get it in writing. This way you are not left standing around the port waiting to board until the parents get there. It is not uncommon to get different answers from different employees so it's better to have it in writing.

  7. You will certainly tender in Santorini, and maybe Kotor.

  8. Tomberly, thank you for posting that information. I've only seen it on this thread, so it's nice to see it "officially."

What it doesn't answer is how you go about doing it. Do I book an interior with my TA and then call the World Points number and upgrade to a balcony? Do I book a balcony with my TA and then call the number and have the booking repriced? Can I use my TA at all?

    Hoping someone can answer... :D

I have not used my points to do a Double Cross Meta Upgrade before so I'm not sure exactly how you do it. I have used it for OBC and also to take money off the cost of my cruise and each time I have called the number below.

  9. I would assume that too; if there had been a problem this thread would have been bombarded with posts and other threads started.

Current reviews on CC for NCL Star all indicate that the problem has been fixed. My DH and I are looking forward to sailing on her in September.

  10. I have a feeling this is really going to test my patience. Sigh

Here is what I found about the Double Cross Meta upgrade that you want to use your points for. I hope this helps😀

  11. Thanks for the quick reply, I see Breakaway is booking past first week in April however Escape isn't which led me to believe that it may be moving? I want to book out of NY, wanted the Escape for late April but it's unavailable. I can book Breakaway now, wonder if I should wait and see or just go for Breakaway.

I would wait, it seems like most of the time you can only book about 2 years in advance with the exception being POA which always in Hawaii. I would wait a few weeks to see where the Escape will be sailing in April 2019.

  12. Just had a look at the dining for our star trip in May and Teppanyaki is not showing. Is this normal for Teppanyaki or does it mean it's sold out?

    All other specialitys show up.

You can book the Teppanayaki resturant once you get on the ship. They do no let you prebook this on the Star because the whole room (very small) where these 2 tables are only hold a total of 16-18 guests at a time.

  13. Hi all,

I am doing an NCL cruise this Fall to the following 4 Western Caribbean Ports. I can't do an excursion at all of them. Help! Which ones have a safe beach nearby the ship vs. which ones would you do an excursion in? Any information is greatly appreciated :)

    Roatan, BayIslands, Honduras

    Harvest Caye,Belize

    Costa Maya,Mexico

    Cozumel,Mexico

    Thanks!

Harvest Caye is NCL's private island. They have a huge pool area and beach with lounge chairs. This is one place you can definitely just enjoy without having to do a planned excursions. Costa Maya has a great shopping area with a large pool and swim up bar. I would plan to do excursions in Cozumel and Roatan and enjoy the free stuff in the other ports. Just my thoughts:cool:

  14. I am a first time cruiser with NCL and we are sailing the Star December 1st Miami to LA Panama Canal Transit.

I have heard some people talk about having to make reservations for the shows.

    Can anybody confirm this?

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

You only make reservations for shows on the larger ships. On the Star you just show up for whatever show you want to see, no preplanning required:)

  15. I plan to purchase $1000 in OBC through the Amex offer to pay for gratuities and cruise-next certificates. My TA is also giving me $100 in OBC. Will I go over the limit? A rep from NCL told me no, the TA 's didn't count. Anyone know if this is true?

You are limited to purchasing $1000.00 in refundable OBC per reservation however no OBC you have given counts towards it. I purchased $1000 refundable OBC for our upcoming cruise in September and also have been given $650 in non refundable OBC from NCL.

  16. We need help. Our second cruise with NCL is in the Haven.

This time around we have a ton of OBC and want to hear your suggestions for using them. We've never had this much OBC on any cruise we've taken. We have $495 refundable OBC (meaning we can use that towards gratuities - what isn't used would go back to our Travel Agent), and $600 from NCL (we can't use this portion towards gratuities). So I think we will need to talk with the reception desk when we board to sort this out?

We are taking the Nov 5 Transatlantic on the Epic this year. How would you best use your OBC?

NOTE: Below is what is already included in our cruise

    Beverage Package

    Specialty Dining for 4 nights

    250 Free Minutes Internet Package

    $50 per port excursion credit

You can use it for spa treatments or on the Thermal spa passes for the duration of your cruise. Photos, specialty coffee, shopping, or put the extra towards shore excursions because we all know that $50 per port does not cover much😀

  17. I booked Alaska for July 2018 in dec 2016, but I upgraded to a balcony last week, I wonder if I screwed myself out of bonus points......

Unfortunately based on my past experience I think that you may have lost your bonus points for booking nine months out. When you change your accommodations even if you are upgrading, NCL considers that to be a rebooked vacation. Your new booking date now becomes the day that you made the changes and therefore because it was after February 3, 2017 I believe your reservation is now falling under the new latitudes reward points rules. I believe the only exception to this would be if you were to upgrade through the new bidding system that is available on some of their newer ships. But this usually occurs much closer to the date of your trip.

  18. When viewing my "Vacation Summary", underneath my reservation number and sailing dates, it says "onboard spending" and then states a dollar amount. What does that mean? Is that a total amount of OBC or something else? Down further under "onboard packages and gifts" it shows the promo items that I've got including on board credit, specialty dining, adult beverage pkg, and Internet pkg. What's the difference between the "onboard spending" and the onboard credit listed below...they aren't the same amount. Thanks!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

The number at the top is the total amount of money you have to spend when you get on the ship. We also have a different amount shown in the lower portion of the vacation summary. In our case the top number is higher because we received an extra $100 bonus of on board credit for booking a latitudes inside offer. The items that are showing on my vacation summary do not show the latitudes offer credit, however when I received in amenities confirmation from NCL it did show all of the credits together which equaled the amount at the top of the vacation summary. You can call your PCC for a copy of your amenities confirmation or contact your travel agent if you did not use a NCL PCC. Hope this helps.

  19. It was more about the fact that you only have 5 years to use points...I would dare say most people would be unable to accumulate 60k points and use them before some start to expire. You obviously are not in that position and I applaud you for your hard work. You are getting to reap the fruits of your hard labor...my hat's off to you. For *most* of us here collecting 60k inside of 5 years is a bit out of reach ;) For someone entering retirement with a nice nest egg and no mortgage then the world is your oyster...and NCL will carry you all over it :)

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I agree that accumulating 60k point before they expire can be difficult. My DH and I are parents to 7 sons, the youngest is now in college and not wealthy by any means. We have just begun to be able to cruise in the last 5 years and I have been able to use my points for $500 off of two separate cruises and also for hundreds in on board credits. I have found that I can make this card work for me buy using it to pay for most things and then paying my balance at the end of every day. This way I never pay them any interest and I can accumulate points more quickly. Plus I take the benefit of the three times the points for anything that I purchase through NCL. This may not work for everyone but we have been able to enjoyed the perks.
