  1. I use a travel agent that discounts the cruise.  She is easy to work with and very quick to respond to e-mails, etc even on weekends.  Rules don't allow me to list her contact information but others on the boards do use her.  She was recommended to me several years ago by a person who was very active on the Princess boards.

The only drawback to using a TA is that all correspondence go through her.  Princess will not talk to me, only the TA.

  2. Silversea booked us on SAS San Francisco to Copenhagen.  SAS is on strike.  Our flight is August 6. has anyone been booked on SAS for a cruise since the strike started and how did Silversea handle changing flights?  The flight from SFO to CPH has been cancelled every day since July 3.

  3. Silversea booked our tickets, not optimal as going on SAS, changing in Copenhagen, returning on Lufthansa changing in Frankfurt.  Our travel agent tried to get us changed to Delta, changing in JFK but Silversea said not available at the contract rate.  Purchasing on Delta would be $12000 roundtrip each. I said the booked tickets are doable but does add time to the journey.  This for a round trip San Francisco to Reykjavik.

How do you get your record locator number for the air as the "details: in My Silversea only shows flights and times, no locator number.

  4. Booked on Silver Wind, Greenland and Canada in August 8, 16 days.  On the 2021 cruise we were booked on which was cancelled we could order a parka which was included. I have searched the Silversea website and cannot see where we can order a parka.   Was the parka removed from this cruise?  Currently on the webpage for this cruise under "expedition gear" it says parka for you to keep when required by Itinerary.

  5. Booked on Silver Wind August 8, Kangerlussuaq to Kangerlussuag.  Paid for Business class upgrade but not Air Deviation. As of today the flights are not in My Silversea.  On our previous bookings on Silversea that were cancelled due to COVID the flights were on the My bookings.  Does anyone know how far in advance Silversea books flight?

Second question I noticed that the cheapest business class is on Icelandic air but no lie flat seats/beds.  The flights with lie flat seat beds are about double.  Would you suggest I do air deviation, would Silversea charge the much higher airfare?

Thank you.  This is our first time on Silversea.  I am hoping we don;t get so spoiled we never want to go back to Princess or Celebrity.

  6. We had the last mini suite on the port side right above club fusion. We got a little noise from Club Fusion but was mostly the beat of the bass. Wasn't too bad.  The rooms on the starboard side are probably quieter as the stage and speakers are on the port side of Club Fusion.

  7. I have used the service for Southampton,Sydney and Rome.  Works great, they pick up the suitcase at your home and the next time you see it is in your cabin.  DHL picked up the suitcase.  Also used it after cruise but may take some time at the pursers desk as the pursers on board aren't that familiar with the program but they always have managed to figure it out.

  8. Just got an e-maIl from our TA, our booked Fiji cruise on the Emerald Princess on March 22, 2022 has been cancelled due to "deployment of the Emerald Princess"  This was to be the second of a B2B in March 2022.  The first cruise New Zealand to Sydney March 9 is still reserved. Any one know where the Emerald Princess is going?

  9. Do any of the suites at the back of the ship have a side view from the balcony or only view of the rear?  Looking at photos it appears all the suites balconies face aft and no side view.  Asking as the Riviera deck suites are right below the pool deck and have smaller balconies.  DW is afraid of the noise form the pool deck but also due to motion sickness doesn't want to look aft only.

  10. First time on Silversea. Tried searching the forum but can't find the information.  Is the dress code on the Silver Cloud different than the other ships?  Silversea website only has the one dress code.   Our voyage is August 8, 2021, Kangerlussuaq to Kangerlussuaq, 14 days Greenland and Canada. Any information on what to pack clothes wise would be helpful and appreciate.  Thanks!

  11. My husband and I will be sailing on the Crown Princess in October 2018. We will be flying from Washington, DC, USA to Barcelona, Spain where we will spend a couple of days in Barcelona prior to boarding the ship. It is a twenty-five day Western Mediterranean Trans-Atlantic cruise and as such we will each have multiple pieces of luggage. In order to make travel a bit easier (and make sure we fit into taxi cabs!) we were thinking of trying the Princess Luggage Valet service. The service is offered in partnership with Luggage Forward. According to the information I have read, for a fee, the service will pick up our suitcases from our home in Pennsylvania and then they will be in our stateroom once we board the ship. Has anyone ever used this service (especially from the USA to an overseas port)? If so, were you pleased with it? Would you recommend the service? Did your suitcases actually arrive?! Were your suitcases damaged? Thanks for any information!
have used the service a few times both through the cruise line and booking direct with luggage forwarders. no problems. luggage in stateroom when we boarded. highly recommend. yes the cost is high but with airlines charging up to $100 for excess luggage makes it seem more reasonable. we did so we didn't have to handle more than one piece of luggage each before/after cruise as we did lots of touring. underground in london has lots of stairs.

  12. Here are my thoughts on the various dining venues on a 30 day cruise (actually a B2B around South America) on Emerald Princess.

Ultimate Balcony Dinner. Even though it seems expensive $100 per couple, it actually is the best value. Included is a photograph, two pre dinner drinks, half bottle of champagne, a flower arrangement and the dinner. The room service supervisor met with us the day before the dinner and asked our dinner preferences. On the night of the dinner two staff members came, a waiter and an assistant waiter. They set up another table on the balcony and then served the drinks and the Canapes. Between courses the waiter and assistant waiter went out in the hallway. It was decadent having two wait staff just for the two of us. Lots of food, we never did eat the Friandises even though they left them for us. Highly recommend the Balcony dinner, will do again on next cruise.

Balcony breakfast, a surprise in that I thought they would just bring a tray and food and drop it but no, they set up our table with table cloth, etc. I had requested eggs benedict instead of the salmon and quiche but they brought all three so more food then we could eat.Plan to do again next cruise.

Share – reluctant to book as I thought the food may be too fancy for my tastes. It was the best dinner we had after the balcony dinner. The combination of flavors seemed weird on the menu but worked. Service was excellent. Left stuffed. Would do once a cruise.

Crown Grill – ate there twice, both times the food was good, service was good but not excellent. Seemed like the wait staff had too many tables to serve.

Anytime dining – on 30 day cruise ate in the dining room for dinner perhaps 15-20 times. Only had a wait once for a table for two. The food was good but had a repeat of the menus. Service was usually good but I noticed that the head waiter would seat people in one section overwhelming the wait staff while other sections the staff stood around bored.

Buffet – eat breakfast here often and once for dinner. Food was good for a buffet, I thought a good variety. tip: in the morning the café Caribe was usually less crowded that the Horizon Buffet.

Trident Grill: Burgers, hotdogs, etc were good as always. I thought some of the evening choices (wings, tri-tip, etc) were dry from sitting in a warmer.

International Café: Good place for a snack or small meal . The Oreo cheesecake was out of this world. Whenever I cruise another line I miss the International Café.

Room Service: only did breakfast on port days. Our cabin was all the way aft on Emerald Deck, most days they came to the door about five minutes prior to the requested time (6:30 -7). One day, an early port day it was almost 7 as I think everyone ordered room service at 6:30. Tried writing is some items but those were ignored.

Afternoon tea: loved it. Went several times for the scones and clotted cream.

Bottom Line - lots of choices and had good meals throughout the cruise.

  13. We've always been able to find places in the ports that offer free or low cost internet. It does help to research them a little in advance. For instance' date=' in St. Thomas, there is a little cafe very near the port--internet is free if you purchase a meal or $3 by itself. There are also multiple bars offering free internet. In St. Maarten, Hardrock Cafe internet is free with any purchase. In Cozumel, you get an internet code with a purchase at Starbucks. We used it somewhere in Grand Cayman but I don't remember where. At most European ports it was the same--free on the steps of a cathedral, at a sidewalk cafe with a beverage purchase, etc. These are much better connections than you get on board in terms of speed and reliability.

If you'll tell us where your cruise is going, we might be able to give you some suggestions.[/quote']South America on emerald starting Feb 28 for thirty days.

  14. I go swimming in our local pool twice a day and am one of the very few "clean skins" there. Tatts are so common on both males and females these days that anyone who makes comments about them must live a very sheltered life!!
I wouldn't worry about it. I work with student veterans at the local community college. Most seem to have tattoos. You couldn't meet a nicer bunch of both male and female students. If anyone doesn't like it, that is their problem.
