We are sailing on the Magic on Saturday!! :):) Quick question-- are the waterslides open when we board? If so, I will have the kids wear their swim suits for boarding.
Thx!
They were closed for cleaning the afternoon we boarded on Dec. 6, 2015.

My family stayed in these two connecting cabins in December, 2015. We had 3 in 2293 with my grandson on the sofa. There is no life boat above the balconies so the view is better and the cabins are brighter. The location is quiet with no noise from the deck above. The balconies are not connecting. My daughter and I thought 2297 was a little too warm in the evenings. This cruise was pre-drydock.

Yes, all the cabins have a mini frig.

Your timing was excellent! When is your cruise? Enjoy your cruise. I love the Magic and hope you do too.

Zydecocruiser.net has photos of the smaller slides and play area on the Carnival Magic. The big slides require a 42 inch height.

The Sunshine is getting it next. Three more ships but the end of the year but he didn't say which ones. He said more on this soon.
Thanks for the update.

I would love to know too. We will be on the Magic in December.

My longest cruise was 49 days sailing from Ft. Lauderdale to San Francisco via Cape Horn on the Carnival Splendor in 2009.
-
I love both ships but I agree that the Eastern itinerary has interesting ports.

How many months before the sail date is the reservation function usually available? Thanks.

I think having a temp monitor keeps the cruise line honest. I have been on 18 Carnival cruises with no AC issues but I had warm cabins once on HAL, RCI and Princess. HAL owned up to the problem but RCI and Princess tried to act like it was just fine. The look on the Princess tech's face when I showed him the 78 degree reading was priceless. LOL

I found a digital ACU-RITE temperature/humidity monitor at Wal-Mart for around $10. I bring it and a small fan on all my cruises. Hope you enjoy your cruise.

I can't help you there - I am not familiar with Ft. Lauderdale. I know most people get their wine there at Total Wine and Spirits, but I don't think they carry it. However, they have very knowledgeable people there and I am sure they can recommend a good wine for you.
Jack
Thanks. It can be ordered online in many states but not in Texas thanks to the same state agency that decided to tax the duty-free liquor bought on the ships. They actually have agents collecting the $3.65 per liter after you clear customs.
And all these years I thought Texans were friendly!

The winery is Vinedo de los Vientos and, while they make several great wines - both red and white - our favorite is their red Tannat. It is a grape that is rarely grown in the US and is unique in taste.
That said, their best wine is a desert wine called Alcyone. In all my years of drinking wine it is the best I have ever had. It is almost addictive! We can't buy it here in Georgia, but stock up on both wines when we are in Florida.
Now for the bad news - you can't buy it in Texas either. The winery is a small boutique winery and has limited production - therefore limited distribution here in the US.
Jack
Do you know if I can buy Viñedo de los Vientos in Ft. Lauderdale? It would be fun to take it on our Celebrity Eclipse TA in April.

Jack, I would love to know the wine you like from Uruguay. It could be my big chance to impress my boyfriend. He loves wine. It's too bad I am so clueless.
-
Jack, your review the Dream/nightmare was the funniest review I have ever read. Who would think a garbage barge could cause so much trouble. I loved your line about you and Sailor Jill having to become citizens of Uruguay. What an adventure!

Does the Hilton Marina allow you to park and leave a car there?
They charge $21 daily for parking.

Loved all three of my cruises on the Carnival Magic. I don't care for RCI's food. Carnival ships like any place with thousands of people have all kinds. It's not fair to compare the old Carnival ships-Elation, Fascination to newer ships with 7 day or longer cruises. In May 2014 I met many very sharp passengers aboard the Carnival Magic. It was my first solo cruise.

We did both on a private tour in late 2010. We did the ruins first and then the driver took us to Merida around the square. It is a busy place but not congested. You might check on the ports board for recent information. I loved both places. Just keep your group small so you don't spend your day waiting on people who can't tell time.

I enjoyed the youtube clip. It brought back happy memories of meeting Egon and enjoying his music on the Poesia.
He was an amazing man. My friend and I joined him for dinner on his birthday. He gave me a birthday kiss right on the lips-not what I expected from a guy his age. LOL

OK I'm sorry, are you talking about .bz or Viv?
VIV Tours was who we used.

My daughter and I used them in December 2012. Their tubes are the best with mesh bottoms and neck rests. They also carry your tubes most of the way which was really appreciated by my 66 year old body!
How long did it take you to reach Platinum VIFP Status?
