  1. Hi--

I had a quick question.  We booked an Aurea balcony for a cruise on the Magnifica later this year.  I love massages, but my husband is "eh" on them.  Are they picky about one per person, or do you think it's possible for me to use both of them?

    Thanks!

    Joanne

  2. I wish they would have sent this out a touch earlier.  I received that email four hours after I rebooked for September '21.  If I'd known I had longer, I would have waited for a later cruise.

I have just found the form that you can complete on-line on the MSC website to cancel current March 2020 cruise and receive credit for another cruise anytime before 12/31/2021.  Has anyone used it and did it seem to work?  It would save me being 'on hold' if I call in to a MSC rep. Just a little concerned with the time frame that is implied.

I just did it, and received a FCC confirmation number within seconds.  It said that they would send a FCC certificate within 14 days of original departure.

The email is worded like to a travel agent's client, so I'm the littlest bit leery.  But, our sailing isn't until April 4th, so I will probably call in a week or so, once things have died down a little, to verify.

It looks like that's just an update to the page they have had on their website(s) this whole time.  I would expect that the policy announcement is still forthcoming...  I am on 4/6 Barcelona cruise on the Opera with Genoa as a port, so def looking forward to an official communication today.

Ours is on April 4th, so we're hoping the same. I can feel my stress rising today -- thank you for the cool head. 🙂

On vacation, I don't want to

    A) Be stuck on the ship an additional day (or 14).

    b) Be stuck waiting in the terminal for hours and hours only to be told my ship would sail tomorrow.

This is the sticking point for us as well, and if they adjust their cancellation policies, we will probably take advantage of them.  I'm not worried about getting sick --  I AM a little worried about getting STUCK on a cruise ship or in a subsequent quarantine, unable to return to our family for a lengthy period of time.

Am I right in saying the cruise season starts in April for Seattle? I can understand the worry with all the cases.

May, I think, is when my dad usually goes. (He used to work for RCCL.)   But, we have a cruise out of Miami planned April 4th.

Ah, I read the link wrong.  When it said he "returned directly", I assumed he flew.

I hope they hurry up with the test kits that SirWolf mentioned.  This was just posted on CNN:

The King County Public Health Department in Washington state does not have enough coronavirus tests to meet the current demand, the department has confirmed to CNN.

I'm worried they're going to add us to the list of unboardable locations soon... 😞

  8. So, this is the situation.

We are 43 days out, on a Super Family reservation.  We are paid in full. When our cabins were assigned, they assigned me and one child to one cabin, Husband and other child to the other.  Since both of our kids are over 18, I called MSC customer service yesterday to see if I could just shuffle people around so that Husband and I are in one cabin, two kids are in the other.  This seems like it should be easy, but it was not.

End result of call...  they moved us all around, BUT somehow in the process, our booking codes changed from 1 Family Cabin, to two B2 cabins....  and the system now thinks we owe an extra $1800.

CS rep gave me an email to contact to get this straightened out. I emailed them last night, but haven't heard back yet.

This morning, however, I received an email from Billing saying that we still owed $1800 and if it wasn't paid by the end of the day, our booking would be cancelled. I assume this is an automatic email.

I am actually okay if that happens -- I'm fine with rebooking, as we could book under the All-In package and come out close to even.

What I'm concerned about is this -- if they cancel our reservation because they think we haven't paid in full, before they work out the kinks from the mistake they made, will I also be forfeiting deposits, portions of the fare?

    Anyone have any wisdom?

My apologies.  I was referring to the US super bowl with respect to humor.  If you aren’t a SF fan, I again apologize.  There is nothing frivolous about death.

    You're fine. I get you. 🙂

  10. It's the crowd aspect that I'm most concerned about. My daughter is on the autism spectrum, and I've found it generally advisable to manage crowd exposure when I can.

We haven't reserved a hotel yet, so moving it isn't really a problem. But our cruise leaves on the 4th, so perhaps we would miss the biggest crowds anyway?

  11. We (family of four) are leaving on a cruise out of Miami in early April, and flying in a couple days early.  My initial plan was to Uber to a hotel in South Beach, and stay there for a couple days -- relaxing on the beach and strolling around.  I have just realized that our visit coincides with Gay pride week, and a reported 100,000+ visitors.  Which is starting to sound less relaxing and much more crowd-intensive.

Would it make sense to move further up the beach -- North Beach area?  Or...?

    Hi

Have you never read this same sort of question on the Cruise lines threads for other cruise lines?

That's what we are asking. Tell me what you thought about anything. Tell me what you thought was good or bad. Tell me what you thought was missing. Of course it's your opinion, I understand that.

It's got to be better information than "So if you don’t like the Armonia, you can always give MSC a try again aboard one of her newer ships that better reflect what MSC truly has to offer." That's what Tapi's final summation was when trying to be helpful.

If there is really nothing outstanding, then tell me that. It's quite easy.

In fairness, if you spend some time reading the threads in this forum and spend some time doing research around the internet, you'll find the answers to your questions without this weird fight.

Doesn't the steward make sure all cabins have a new roll of TP everyday on the roll.

I have only cruised on X & HAL and the roll was always replaced (maybe every other day) so we never ran out. Not great for the environment.

This is probably a dumb question out of curiousity...  but I keep seeing references to cruises on X cruiseline -- but I have no idea what company that is.  Is that a company or is it a taboo thing that CC keeps replacing or...?

MSC call center in US and HQ is downtown Fort Lauderdale with typical uncaring, lazy, inattentive Broward County resident employees.  They have 0 Italian in them and have never seen a ship in real life.

I had to call yesterday -- it was a simple matter, was only on-hold about 20 seconds, but the call seemed to go off well!

I am sorry to hear about your negative experience with staff.  We had no major issues, and found most of the staff to be very accommodating.  I agree that the specialty restaurant hosts were not the friendliest, but by no means rude to us.

As for the thermal spa - I guess it varies by cruise.  It was never crowded when I went (usually early in the morning, or around 8 p.m. on port days).  There were 6 people on one of my visits, and that was the busiest I encountered.  What time of the day did you use the spa?  It may be related to the time of day.  I hope you have a better time on Meraviglia, or find the cruise line that better fits your needs and vacation style.

I genuinely think you are the nicest person I've ever read on this forum. 🙂
