  1. I think one way overseas tickets are one of ezairs best features! We are flying first class from west coast to LHR for $1049 pp on Delta this summer. If you try booking with Delta a oneway is same or more than round trip! We had miles for our return trip from Paris, but wanted the protection Princess offers if there was any delay with our flight to the cruise. We aren’t able to leave as early as I would have liked due to my daughter’s schedule.

You could see if you can find a 2018 cruise that ends in the same city as the 2019 and pull up current flights to get an idea of how much it would cost. Try a couple of different months so you can get a feel for highs and lows in ticket prices.

  2. If it was me, I would take a taxi straight to Edinburgh Castle, then walk down Royal mile to Holyrood Palace and then catch the HoHo bus from Holyrood Palace. It’s a very uphill walk to the Castle the other way. It’s a nice walk down royal mile, and you can stop, shop and eat along the way. There is a lot to see along the Royal mile, and you could spend the whole day just in the 1 1/2 to 2 miles between the castle and the palace!

  3. There is a company called ‘About Cork Taxi Tours’, that cost €45 an hour with a 5 hour minimum and €360 full day for a regular sized car up to 4 people. I haven’t used them, but I looked into renting a car just to drive around to a few areas as well. They also do a cruise tour, but I wasn’t interested in that so I don’t have the details.

We decided, though to just stay in Cobh. My daughter found quite a few things that look interesting to do, and so decide to save the taxi cost. We are going to take the Spike Island tour which has gotten pretty good reviews on TripAdvisor. It’s something that you can book on your own, and just walk to the ferry dock right in town. Tickets are only €18 each and that includes the guided tour of the prison as well as the ferry ride. The only downside is you have to spend 3 hours there! The ferry is scheduled for both ways, so not much flexibility. We booked a time that if we finished exploring early, we would just eat lunch at the cafe there and enjoy the view.

We are also looking at both the Heritage museum and Titanic museum. The Cathedral is definitely sounds worth the walk up! Hopefully there will be a market in port! I would love to get some hand knit items!

  4. I was wondering what kind of specials onboard people have seen for the Platinum Studio. Is there anything in the Anniversary coupon book, or has there been any kind of special that’s pretty common during the cruise? My daughter and I will be doing the British Isles on the Royal, and she is really interested in getting some black and white photos.

I saw that you can get $200 extra if you put down $250 as a photo credit, but wanted to know if there are specials similar to this if I wait until we are onboard.

  5. I also use eagle creek packing cubes as well and swear by them. I use the compression cubes, but only compress for the trip home! This usually gives me enough space for anything I purchased. I also use their garment folders. It gives you a bit more space, but mostly just for organization. I think it keeps my clothes much less wrinkled. I use eagle creek brand roller space bags for bulkier items like sweaters. They are very heavy duty, easy to compress and can be re used for many trips!

Their luggage is great as well, and is designed to fit their cubes, but they would work in any luggage.

  6. I was wondering what types of food you can order for dinner from room service. Do they have hot entrees or is it mostly sandwiches and salads. My sister and I are going on our first cruise, which is very port intensive, so I could see us wanting to just stay in the room on a couple of evenings.

We were also curious to know how long it takes to have a quick breakfast and get off the ship to meet for a tour? We will be on the Ruby Princess. I would think everything would be packed with everyone trying to get an early start.
