  1. What now seems all the rage is getting Carnival gift cards to pay off your cruise/ use on your sign and sail card. And yes I am one of those who got some from my local Kroger store to stock up on those fuel points.

Yet, I'm still a little confused . What is the BEST way to ensure that they use my gift cards first prior to my credit card ? I've contacted carnival 3 times and have gotten 3 different responses .

Has anyone had an issue with using them ? For instance carnival some how messed up and charged your credit card and didn't use the gift card first ?

    TIA

Carnival charges on the last day of the cruise, not periodically throughout. When you add a $500 gift card to your account on the first day you will have a -$500 balance. Therefore all charges will be taken from the 500 first

  2. From another thread

"Just received this in an email from Verizon.

We are currently enhancing the security features on all eGift Cards, and as a result eGift Cards have been removed and are unavailable. Regretfully, we do not have a time frame on when we will be reinstating the eGift Card features, or when the standard gift cards will become available again. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you enjoy the offers. "

  3. You are going on a smaller ship, for a weekend cruise. Differences between RCCL and Carnival will not be much. However, if you were to go on a larger RCCL ship, than the differences are amazing. Basically, everything is about the same and handled the same way. If you prepaid tips, than your charges will be what you put on your card for purchases and drinks. Your room might be smaller, but I have never had an issue with it. If you get to the terminal by 10:30, they will let you on by 11:00 and lunch opens at 11:30, with very little lines for the first ones on. After that have fun!

appreciate the tip on getting on at 11. Thanks!

  4. We have sailed CCL in the past and have no complaints. We moved over to RCCL to give it a try and because we wanted the bigger ships. The 1st thing that comes to mind is that the ambiance is much nicer on the new RCCL ships. Now, I most recently salied on one of RCCL older, smaller ship and wasn't happy.....again, we like the newer and bigger ships. The reason I say that is because it is all in what you want.

This year will be the 1st time we try one of the specialty restaurants, but other than that, IMO - I can not give RCCL any better markings for their food. We have had good an bad cruise directors on both lines. I feel the excursions offered are equal in $ and value.

We have always been happy with carnival and decided on something new for this trip. Enchantment OTS is obviously an older ship but i believe it was refurbished in 2012. Either way its a vacation :)

  5. I have been on 5 cruises in the past (4 Carnival and 1 Disney) but this will be my first time on RCCL. We decided on Royal Caribbean because it was the cheapest of any cruise line the weekend of the 23rd for a 3 day ($149/each). We will be on the Enchantment OTS in a large interior (K) room on deck 7.

What can I expect to be different as compared to Carnival and Disney?

Any additional charges upon debarkation (already prepaid gratuities)?

And any other tips that could help!

  6. Does the Splendor have Angry Orchard? Going on 4/18.

Wonder if there is a list of ships currently carrying it. I'm wondering about the Valor.

  7. Is this how you booked your Liberty cruise? This boat is moving to Port Caanveral and I'd really like to cruise on this ship given the E Caribbean ports and glowing reviews of the ship in general. What kind of savings do you typically see when booking last minute?

We did last minute for the inspiration of out tampa and liberty out of Miami. Both within a month or so of sailing. It did end up being the lowest price I had seen for either of those sailings.

However we did book a 7 day out of PR last night for May of this year. The #nowisthetime sale going on right now is great for returning customers. All upgrades are included.

It all depends if you think the price has a chance of going down and how full your ship is right now.
