  1. Hi y’all. We’re going on the Escape February 1-8 2020 out of Miami. This will be our 4th cruise.

We travel quite a bit. Been almost everywhere in Caribbean. My question to you - have you done a cruise with no excursions at all??

The wife and I just want to hit the beach, drink foo foo drinks and relax. Also bask in the warm weather since I personally hate the cold. Walking around town/window shopping too.

So, anyone just did not do excursions??

  2. This may sound not cruise related, but I’ll be coming off the Escape and headed to FLL airport.

I am just curious if some one could offer advice. I recently became disabled and now requires the use of a cane. For long walks, a wheelchair is necessary. Here’s a situation:
I just came off a cruise in Alaska and got to SEA airport walking with a cane. Checked in Southwest and then they told me to head to security. So I did. I swear it was 3 miles long, 4 lines deep. No way I could walk that. A Southwest agent saw me and told me to get in a wheelchair, so I did. The agent took me to fly by security or something like that. I was through security 5 minutes.

Now my question is should I request a wheelchair at the very entrance of FLL because when I fly out, several cruise lines will be in nearby ports. Would I be moved to the front of security?? I’m not asking for pity, but I’m just not able to stand/walk long distances. Thank you.

  3. I need a little help or clarification. I originally was going to fly free with Southwest from Kansas City to Seattle then I pay ez air from Seattle to Anchorage using Alaska Airlines. I paid $718 for that last portion of flight for the wife and I. I have 10 days before I fly out for Coral Princess Cruise. I checked ez air and found a flight for the same price from Kansas City to Anchorage. That’s Alaska Airlines.

So I was trying to see and Princess website says a $448dollar change fee. Now price is $508. So I will pay 508 and 448? Could you explain to me? See pictures. By the way I haven’t purchased or modified the flight yet.

  4. This question is for Alaska cruisers and birdwatcher enthusiasts. I am getting ready to purchase Bushnell H2O Waterproof/Fogproof Roof Prism Binocular 8x42.

I’m mainly using this to see wildlife, whale watching and the like. After I’m done with Alaska Cruise, I will be using these for looking out on the lake that I live waterfront on.

Does anyone have this binoculars or know if this is a good kind?? Reviews says it’s good. Thank you!

Okay, no problem.  It's just when you called it a "suite" I didn't want you to expect it to come with suite-like perks.  A lot of people think they have a suite and they don't.  I guess that could be a good thing though.  :classic_biggrin:  Most Princess cruisers won't stay in a mini-suite for the perks but they do stay in them for the extra space.  I think the thing that is the nicest is having a bathtub.  It makes it so much easier for girls to shave their legs so your wife will probably thank you for that.

Truthfully my wife is just tickled pink about going on our 3rd cruise (Alaska; Coral) and 4th in February (NCL East Caribbean, again). She said whatever I get is a blessing. 🙂

It's not a suite.  It's a mini-suite.  There's a HUGE difference.  The minis come with very few perks.  Here's your perks, which are basically useless but I think you'll really love all the extra space and two TVs (if this particular cabin arrangement comes with 2).

    Mini-Suite Perks

Yes I know it’s a mini suite. In the post above yours I said suite. My bad. I know it’s a mini.

Was just noting that there are eight of those specific type of cabins on Coral (and Island) Princess. A small enough quantity for the category to be entirely overlooked by agents, or potential passengers when searching for cabins. Their location all the way forward makes them even less remarkable--but as you found out a potential deal for those in the know (like your agent).

    @fishywood

I am just elated to get in a suite. Granted it is all the way forward. I’ve always been midship, but I’m willing to try new things. If I don’t like it, I won’t repeat it. I’d like to think I’m the kinda guy who likes to say “don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.”

This will be my 25th wedding anniversary gift for my wife. She grew up dirt poor and since we’ve been together, she has seen a LOT of the U.S. and all of the Caribbean.

I am not sure of (1) whether this was a complimentary upgrade or a paid upsell (sorta sounds like the latter but maybe not); and especially (2) whether your travel agent made it perfectly clear you were moving to a window mini-suite or you just discovered that on your own when checking the cabin number against the deck plans. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the TA implied you were moving to a regular mini with a balcony (given how enthusiastic about the upgrade you say they were) as I would consider it a safe bet that the large majority of them have no idea that those eight window minis even exist on Coral and Island.

    @fishywood

I originally was in F504 which used to be a part if the casino on Coral. They added cabins so the cabins have the large picture windows.

I asked my travel agent for more information. She stated it was ocean view mini suite. No balcony. I was fine with that.

Now the 8 mini windows, can you elaborate on that?? Thank you.

  9. As the title says, I initially paid for a Fiesta deck ocean view on Coral Princess. Got an offer from the Cruiseline through my travel agent to upgrade to a mini suite. My agent said it was very well worth it because I’d be saving substantially from what I paid.

So, I WAS midship deck 5, but now at the very front on deck 10. It is C203 oceanview mini suite. Anyone know how much more room, perks and whatnots I’d be expecting? Pictures or videos??

I know on deck 10 (caribe) I can walk straight back to aft and go through the employees only doors to go in the “observation deck” that is semi private.

    Thank y’all.

  10. Forgive me if this isn’t the RIGHT place but I AM going on Coral Princess.

I will I’ll be arriving at SeaTac (Seattle) by Southwest. I will need to claim my bags as I’ll be getting on Alaska Airlines on a separate ticket. My question is: when I arrive, I of course will go get my bags at the bag carousel. When I do, how do I turn back around and gain “entry” from the bag carousel area? I know I’ll need to go to Alaska Airlines desk and then security and then the gate. How do I get THERE from the bags carousel? I’ve only hopped on another flight with the same ticket before in Seattle. This will be a first for me. My flight from Southwest arrives 11:05 am and Alaska Airlines is 2:40 pm the same day. Thank you.

    Interesting......

I have never heard of a transfer included in the cruise fare if you don't have a hotel/package.

Quick Shuttle leaves at 8:45am. It arrives a few minutes before departure.

I just told my travel agent what I was going to do to get to Anchorage and then told her “get me to the ship.” She May have just went ahead and added the Princess transport fee onto my package price. It was only then I found out (my fault) that I needed transport from Vancouver to Seattle.

Are you staying in a Princess hotel/package? If so that's why.

    https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2645007-captain-cook-to-whittier-transfer/

We’re actually not. Flying from Seattle to Anchorage the morning of and getting on Princess provided transfer at the airport.

We usually do self walkoff. Not really a fan of waiting around in a room full of people like a cattle herd. No offense. So since we walk off, we could get on the Quick Shuttle like 7:30’ish?? I know the bus leaves like 8:30 or so.

No it is extra they have a bus transfer.

We always take the train as it pulls right up in front of the ship in Whittier.

    Book it ourselves.

    It is an awesome trip.

I just asked my travel agent and she said my transport was included so I’ll probably be using Princess bus.

Im just looking for options from Vancouver to SeaTac. My flight is 5:20 pm.

If it is offered onboard take the Princess shuttle to Sea-Tac from Canada Place.

Usually does not show up until mid way through the cruise in our experience.

Sometimes it is offered before the cruise.

    It works really well.

Your flight needs to be after 2pm I believe.

We have done it several times.

    Think we paid $48pp.

Who did you use? Princess Transportation?
