  1. I was on the first cruise on Legend going from Vancouver to Hawaii (no return). We got permission to disembark a day early in Kauaii instead of getting off in Honolulu the next day. We had to send a letter to Royal for permission. After we got the permission we were told to have luggage ready and we would go meet customs agents on board before leaving ship. Unfortunately the seas were too rough in Kauii and the ship didn't make port so we did end up leaving in Honolulu. Don't know if this helped.

  2. It still depends on how the casino host manages it and will vary by ship. I am Gold MLife due to being emerald with RCI. On our last cruise we had 2 cabins and I was booked in an inside with my son. We did not have any C&A discounts applied. I saw the casino host the first day and gave her my Mlife member number. She had me wait a day while she e mailed but then provided me with 5 drink coupons.

We don't often have a cabin that we can take advantage of this and I don't expect it but I will check with the casino host and if I get anything then it is a bonus.

You got benefits from your Dec or March cruise? From recent comments it looks to me that Royal is doing more to check who gets what now then they did last Nov. when this thread started. I'm hoping to get benefits too as I'm D+ and it sure looks inviting

This is what I found on the Website for MLife. Sounds to me you must get your tier level from gambling not just because you are a certain level on Royal.

  4. The idea of having rules for clothing attire at dinner is easy to figure out. If Royal or any other cruise line states "shorts are acceptable" then the next step is "daisy dukes" and then who knows what comes next. You want to come dressed nicely and have someone who could be as nice as the next person but wearing those hideous shorts that drop down below his cheeks and his underwear hanging out. That may be an exaggeration but you know what I mean! Let's keep it to slacks and not shorts ty.

  5. I was lucky enough to witness a space shuttle take off from Cape Canaveral about 5 or so years ago. It was fabulous. Nothing can compare to being there and feeling the ground rumble and the stillness of all the observers. I'd recommend it to anyone. Years before that I was in Disney when one took off and we did see the arc in the sky before it disappeared and thought wow that was great but after being there to witness the full effect ... well it was amazing.

  6. We were on the Legend of the Seas years ago when it did the first sailing to Hawaii from Vancouver. After 2 days at sea (and it was a rough crossing) the ship came to a stop in the middle of the Pacific. A sailboat about 32 feet long was in distress. A solo sailor had been at sea for over 20 days was out of fuel and low on water and food. The main sail was broken the young man didn't look to good either. He was offered a ride to Hawaii but did not want to scuttle his boat (actually his dads boat and he was sailing it to his father in Hawaii). He was given supplies, fuel and water. The captain called his dad and he got to Hawaii about a day or so after we got there (captain kept us up to date). While we were stopped in the Pacific for this it was amazing to see the beautiful fish up close. It was really something to talk about the rest of the cruise.

  7. There are a few videos on youtube of ships in storms. There is one in particular I watched quite a while ago where the cameras showed dining rooms being unset and people falling all over but the funniest part was in the casino where you see blackjack tables falling over, everything falling over and people running ...then there is a woman (who had no idea what could have been going on) but trying to collect as many coins from the machine that pushes the coins forward as you put coins into it. The machine had coins spilling out all over and shes filling her bags and pockets meanwhile it could have been a ship going down lol.

  8. So sorry to hear of your bad experience. When you are dealing with customs they know you could be held up. We used Sunshine Limo for both to Port and return to MCO. Our experience with them and their driver Solo was wonderful, except I gave them my home number if they need to reach me. Lucky for me they only tried to reach for me to let me know they were at the hotel and then again at the port. (my fault). I will use them again without a doubt.

  9. I don't want to mislead you but to make things easier get a company that is right outside of the baggage area of the airport. They are soo close. I know there are at least 4 of them. No need for transportation to the lot to pick up car. I'm sure someone can here can give you their names. The other thing is if you are traveling with a child you lose backseat space for luggage and therefore many normal size trunks could never carry your luggage. I remember seeing a couple picking up a car (not small at all) and they are trying to stuff all their luggage into it. It was funny to me not them lol. I would therefore try to get a minivan. We priced out one for January to take family to Port Can. and it was about $110 for 24 hrs. Then I made a few inquiries for private transportation and it was $125 each way so I did that because figuring in gas it paid to. And for you just request a car seat.

  10. I love cruises because I don't have to carry a purse EVER!

For the airport (before I moved to Florida) I simply placednecessary ID in my carryon case along with a brush, money, etc. That ID gets placed in the safe onboard. All I carry then is my little retractable lanyard with my seapass card which I hook to my shorts and tuck in my pocket.

For shore excursions..a hip pack or a beach bag is fine.

Love to be purse free on a cruise..don't have to worry about it at all.

I totally agree with you. On the ship you just need your setsail card (in my pocket) Sunglasses I put on my head when not in use. Off the ship my DH carries a backpack. At night on ship if I need more than a lipstick I use the smallest purse as possible with a strap.

  11. Champagne is not my drink of choice. I do like the flavored martiniis. But a tablemate had a champagne coctail party in her suite and we tasted all the "flavored" chamagnes and they were delicious. Can't wait for next cruise to get this card. Well worth the money.
