I was on the Koningsdam recently and noticed that my phone found a Bluetooth signal from the tv. I didn’t bother trying to connect, but if you can, you could probably cast from your phone. I have an iPhone. My daughters android also detected the tv.

That is good to know, thanks 🙂

There is no access to any of the TV ports on the Rotterdam and the remote only operates the functions provided on the ship systems

Thanks, that is what I needed to know.

Was on the Zaandam last year during playoffs and we were unable to watch as the channels were not available. We tried to watch on our computer but the sites were blocked. We ended up listening to the games on the NHL app radio feed.

The radio is a good idea thanks

I was in Thailand for the Superbowl. One trick to watching stuff from your home network when traveling only works if you get your TV streaming. If so, if you subscribe to a VPN (virtual private network) you can watch as if you are at home.

We will give that a try, thanks

  5. We will be on the Rotterdam from May 27 to June 17 for a Viking Sagas & Baltic Jewels cruise and are wondering if we will be able to watch any NHL games? Has anyone ever sailed during the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Europe and found they were able to view some of the games? I'd imagine with the time difference they would be shown at odd times but we are hopeful that we may be able to watch a game or two.

    Thanks

  6. We have a cruise booked for Alaska in July. I understand the testing requirments but what I am uncertain about is what happends if you test positive while on the cruise or at the end of the cruise. I read that Holland America would be responsible to arrange COVID-19 safe accommodations for passanger isolation but are we responsible to pay for that accommodation?

There are three Wine Stewards whom are standouts in my memory.

Roy who served me on the 2008 Grand World Voyage.

Sume who served me on the 2002 Asia Pacific Voyage.

Nestor who served me on more than one HAL cruise, both in the dining room and as a bartender in later years.

Friendly, knowledgeable about their wines, provided excellent wine service each night:  they helped to make my nightly dining a very pleasant experience.

We had the privilege of having Nestor on a 14 day Alaskan Cruise a few years ago and he absolutly made our night everytime we entered the MDR. He was fantastic, my family still talks about him!

  8. My now adult kids never attended the kids clubs on cruises either. They cruised as teens and young adults several times. They have cruised on Hal and Celebrity and love both. Its funny they prefer small ships as well. We made sure to throw in a few games and some of our favourite memories were playing cards together in the evenings or having a wonderful meal as a family in the main dinning room.  We enjoyed spending time as a family onboard and your family will have a great time too!

  9. We phoned to try to book for Europe 2021and was told that most of Europe will be availible for today except Ryndam cruises. We are looking at a cruise that will sail on the Ryndam, no definitive date for when these will be availible... we do have a future cruise deposite down for the cruise we are interested in. Hopefully it will become avaiible soon. As for the rest of Europe, I just checked and it still isn't on the webpage...maybe later today?

  10. We have been checking several time a day for the Northern Europe Cruises to be released for 2021. It seems so odd that many of the other lines have had their 2021 intineraries out for awhile now and Holland America doesn't.

Hopefully they will be availible soon, but until then, I will just have to continue checking, and checking, and checking...

  11. VacationingCharlene,

We too are anxious to find out when this cruise will be released for the very same reasons. We always book this far in advance for various reasons, one of them being cabin selection. We are working people in our 40's who have to save for two years to go on these bigger cruises and it is motivating to save for something that is already booked. We tend to always have one booked in advance, that way we get exactly what we want.

Fingers crossed it comes out soon!

    Also Charlene
