  1. Can someone who has flown out of Barcelona recently tell if you are required to turn on all your electronic devices? Just wondering so we will be prepared. We fly out 5 October. Did you have to turn on your cameras as well as your computer and phone? What about hairdryers?

    Thanks in advance.

I flew out of Barcelona on a Delta flight to JFK last week and I was not asked to turn anything on. I believe they recommend that you have the batteries charged in your cell phone and other portable electronic devices to show that they actually are functioning. As someone else stated it might just be something they do at random.

  2. Well, you definitely gave me the best news I ever could have expected. The fact that Delta will check your bags and issue boarding passes at the cruise terminal, is such a great convenience. Where you advised before you disembarked, about the Delta check-in facility in the cruise terminal? Do you have to take your checked bags to the bus when you board, or do they ship them separately in a truck? I assume it was a bus that took you to the airport. Appreciate your glowing report on the Princess transportation, now all I have to do is enjoy my cruise.

We had no idea prior to picking up our bags in the cruise terminal that they had a delta check in desk there. It was quite a surprise. We handed over our checked bags in the cruise terminal and did not see them again until we arrived at JFK. The only bags we had to load on the bus were our carry ons.

  3. Appreciate the information. We are due to arrive on the Emerald Princess at 5:00am also, so if we are allowed off the ship around 6:00am also, with a 11:40am departure, I see no issue either. My main concern was when Princess allowed you to disembark and whether their Princess transportation was available at that time. May I ask what time you actually left the port, and how long did it take you by bus to the airport.

We left the port at about 6:30 I believe. We would have left earlier but we had some luggage issues and had to take a later shuttle. The ride to the airport is only about a half hour. If you are flying with Delta as I believe you said you are, they have a special check in area in the cruise terminal itself. We checked our bagged and were issued our boarding passes before we even left the cruise terminal. We only had to go through security at the airport as everything else was taken care of at the cruise terminal. The princess transportation was fantastic and quite efficient. I definitely recommend it for your situation.

  4. I apologize for the small screen shots but here is the new deck plans for Britannia showing the Terrace pool on the Sun Deck. Perhaps the Regal has been fitted already?

I have attached the link to the P&O site for better viewing.

But if you look at the deck plans for the Regal isn't there supposed to be a bar there? I believe Outriggers or something of that nature.

  5. Princess's summer offerings in the Greek Isles are awful. They are really forcing their clientele to look at Celebrity. Much better itineraries there.

I just checked them out and they honestly don't look that muck better. I didn't really see anything I didn't see with princess.

  6. I believe we will be there on the Ocean Princess in October.

Is that one of their "regulars" that they offer? Or is it a cruise that only has one sailing date? I'll be on the Regal in August from Venice to Barcelona but it's not on the itinerary. It seems like it's normally been on their grand med cruises in the past but for some reason it's not there this year.

  7. I noticed barely any of the cruises stop in Santorini this summer. What's up with that? It was one of my favorite stops on my last cruise and I know it's always a favorite with others. Why is it skipped on so many itineraries? It's one of the most beautiful Greek islands.

  8. For those that go to the beach, how do you keep $/ID/credit cards secure & dry without a waterbox?

I found a little sealable pouch that was originally intended for a cell phone that works great for that stuff. It not only keeps the water and dirt out, but it also floats. I found it at Eddie Bauer but I'm sure you could easily find them online anywhere. It was only around 10$ and the best thing I've found.

  9. I know what you mean. You have worked so hard to erase "tourist" from yourself. I am sure you fit in with all the locals. You look like them. Speak their language with their accent. Dress like them. Never carry a camera or any of the other touristy junk. You always have the local currency and can easily make change whenever needed.

That's not what I was getting at at all. There are some places that you visit when cruising were local people will try to take advantage of foreigners. It makes you more of a target because it's so easily recognizable. Just trying to be helpful and give my experience of what I've seen on cruises I've been on. Sorry if I was offensive in anyway. I generally do try to dress in a manner that's socially acceptable wherever I am as not to insult any local customs and I will attempt to converse in local language when I can. I'm not perfect at it but I try. Part of the travel experienced is trying to immerse oneself in other cultures and learn more about them.

  10. The wifi and cellular service at sea is really expensive. It's not really worth it. A weird tip though, I sailed with Princess and when I went on my iPhone it would connect to the wifi but not actually log on. Even though I was not logged on and not paying anything all of the push notifications still came through so I could still stay up to date on what was going on in the world.
