That's probably a very nice chunk of their revenue. Doubt it.

Careful with that. Coconuts can be excellent laxatives for some people.
-
I"m actually afraid of directly booking through their site. With so many issues, I don't trust that any transactions are secure.

When did people's enjoyment become so dependent on meaningless factors, like other peoples' dress?
-
That's a huge relief. Any noise issues?

Looking to book a November/October AoS cruise.... all available cabins are connecting cabins, it seems. When I search for another cabin, only the same, deck 6, connecting cabins show.
Does that really mean they're all out of non-connecting cabins, so soon?
If so... I don't want my neighbors just barging in....

As I understand, the prepaid tips are for MTD.
We went twice. We remembered their names/titles and tipped them generously.
I see no need to pay extra for nights that we didn't go to the MDR.
Also, this automatic tipping thing... I have no control who the money goes to. I'd rather acknowledge excellent service with a great tip to that person, rather than add to a "pool" of tips. Mind you, we still left the prepaid gratuites, but I understand those who don't.

By your title, I thought you meant Puerto Rican fare. If so, Fefo's is very good, and cheap, as well as Cafe Manolin, but it's always crowded.
Spanish food.... best Spanish food in PR I think is out of Old San Juan.

Trust me, Jewel is fabulous and is the only ship left in the fleet with a Sea View Café. She is gorgeous. :) If we could sail her again and again before her refurb, we certainly would. Oh, and shower doors to boot!
.
What about shower doors? Only Jewel has them? :O

We've already been on the Jewel, loved it, and now we're considering a B2B.
I like the more intimate atmosphere of the Jewel, but my husband complained about a lack of onboard activities. I went on the Adventure many years ago, and... it was loud and just overwhelming, but we went in July. We're thinking of taking this B2B in October-November.
Anyone who's been on these ships recently willing to weigh in? I'm very unsure.

Kinda bummed, I was hoping to see different ships departing from San Juan.

You don't have to dress up. I went in a sundress or a more business casual type of dress, husband went in dark jeans and a button down shirt.
I was much more disturbed by how loud the MDR is rather than anyone's clothing.

I had my dissertation professor tell me he couldn't work with me from Jan 11-18 since he wouldn't be in the country.
Ran into him in the muster drill :D He also had the stateroom next to mine

I'm in the "Mind your own business" crowd. And I love to dress up. I am simply not affected by other people wearing clothes that are not to my standard. It was .... interesting.... at time seeing old women wearing what looked like prom gowns and makeup that was fashionable twenty years ago in formal nights, but they were having fun and doing what they wanted to do. My cruise experience is fun when the people around me are also having fun!
As long as it's no swimsuits (and only because they're wet and such), I'm okay with it. I don't care and don't wish to enforce rules on the week where people are supposed to be having fun.

RCI has the worst website ever. I coudln't even book anything through it because it redirects me to a Spanish website (I'm in Puerto Rico), and doesn't let me switch back to English. Genius design.

We just cruised this January, 11th-18th. Almost no kids/teens on board, a tad of an older crowd, quiet people. We're the same, so, loved it. I've cruised during holidays, NEVER AGAIN.
-
On-board, lots of nice deals/packages.
-
Since we live near a port with RCI ships, and don't really know when we'll be able to get vacation time to cruise, we just want to wait it out and, hopefully, find a cabin (discounted would be ideal)... whatever's left on the ship, right before the sail date. Is this possible? If so, are rates discounted?

There are loungers, a bar, no food, but Windjammer is nearby. Not a relaxing atmosphere, as it's always crowded and loud.

I found a huge, gorgeous one in St. Kitts. Much too big for a pocket. Had to go in the backpack. Confiscated.
Little ones that I kept in my pocket.... I have them at home with me right now ;)
-
Are they announced anywhere or is it basically just check every day?
-
We're living in Puerto Rico right now and wonder if there's special resident rates for us? I've heard they exist but have yet to see any.

I got complimentary chocolate-covered strawberries in my last cruise, but only because I got very sick one night, threw up all over the bed. Think they felt bad for me. Trust me, you'd rather be okay than get sick just for strawberries :p

I'm a very physically fit person and very well traveled (although not much on cruises yet).
The tour is, if not the best, one of the best things I've ever done. It was almost spiritual.
The Reef part of it can be a challenge, at least for me, I'd never snorkeled and it took me some getting used to, but the water wasn't very wavy and it was GORGEOUS.
Titou Gorge... yes, very cold water, but you get used to it quickly enough, and it's very refreshing and just gorgeous.
The falls are also spectacular, but I think the riskiest part of the tour, maybe.... get water shoes (NO FLIP FLOPS), don't stand on anything green on rocks, do things *slowly*, take time and ask for help if needed, and you'll be fine. I didn't find it challenging much, and it was all so breathtaking I would do it again in a second. Dominica is one of my favorite places.
Eating Local Food in Port

Puerto Rico is a US territory with the same food standards as any other state in the US. Except they have their own food culture. I'm from San Juan and love eating there.
My favorite part of traveling is eating, so yes, I'll go to the "hole in the wall" type places. Being from San Juan, I can tell you the big name restaurants (looking at you, Senor Frogs) are just scamming tourists with overpriced awful quality foods.
