  1. We always purchase insurance but Not through our cruise line. I use a common site insuremytrip but the last two cruises we just used the policy our TA quoted us.
I actually juuuust submitted and received some money due to flight delays two weeks ago. It happened to be an Allianz policy and we got $200 back within 30 hours of my online claim submission.
I’m in agreement with many others  that it feels reassuring to invest in it  even if we don’t need it 9 out of 10 trips!

  2. Agreed with the post above, we also got an additional 5?% off of the then “live cost” of the cruise on website. We also chose to purchase cruise next certificates and get more bang for our buck. We booked our upcoming Caribbean cruise in March on the ship in Greece last June.

Yay! Thanks for the good news!  I'll be less cranky with my trenta iced coffee in hand each morning.  🙂

We were on the Jade in June and while I can’t recall if the sign said Starbucks or Java cafe it definitely HAD Starbucks drinks and food. The issue we ran into was the fact that for a time NCL wasn’t allowing any drink purchases WHILE in port in Greece only. My cranka$$ self learned this one morning😩😡

I knew zero alcohol “sales” and we were ok to get them because we had package. They were suspending all sales and it made for an unhappy morning-lolol

Did you have the beverage package?

Yes, so we could get anything that was included on our package but no option to “pay extra” for say, the chocolate martini which is over 15$. We also couldn’t buy anything at Java Cafe in port as the regular beverage package doesn’t cover those coffees.  Otherwise, we could order drinks and show our card on beverage package and they weren’t even running it through computer, providing a receipt.

The question you were responding to was regarding the temporary situation we had back in April where there was no bar service on embarkation day until the evening after we had left Athens.

Are you saying that these issues have returned?

Yes, this was the situation on the Jade very recently for my sailing June 19-26. My TA had learned from NCL that this is indeed a “thing”  so we were ready for it. I posted an actual picture of the signage at the bars on another post.

Thank you for these Keith!  Enjoyed traveling along with you and followed you on IG.  I was checking out the Sunday Daily and it lists Bar Services (hours) for the first day.  Was it mentioned anywhere that they can't serve until well after disembarkation or people just found out when they got on board?

We just disembarked yesterday. No announcements but you’d see them subtly remove the stand-up signage from the bars once it was “time” 🙂

    Hi Vanchelle,

Thanks for responding.  How has the dining and bar service been?

Dining…sadly we thought this was the least impressive dining experience we’ve had on NCL or Carnival. However, we certainly were fed lol. Garden Buffet was same at breakfast, rotated for lunch and dinner and was just ok. Alizar was surprisingly the most impressive for us-consistently good food and service.
cagneys-my entered and salad were great but the prime rib was meh. )it was better at Alizar last night)

bar service-good but mixed drinks were SO inconsistent. With all of this being said I really loved the ship and the crew was so friendly and attentive in our experienceWith all of this being said I really loved the ship and the crew was so friendly and attentive in our experience

Thank you so much for this great information, hope you have a fabulous trip! We will be boarding the Jade next Sunday 🙂

So far, the ship does NOT feel anywhere near “full” we’ve only sailed on the Epic and Getaway, which have more pax so it could simply be the fact that this is a smaller vessel.
overall, I am VERY happy with this ship. Very few lines anywhere. Super clean.

Thank you for this info, I just posted my questions on the roll call for upcoming cruise departing from Athens on the Jade in Nov.  You cleared up some questions I had.  Did you test in Athens to meet the day requirement?

    Thanks, Genzi

Yes-we chose to do the Azoza? azova? Online proctors tested from our hotel room the night before.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us all. Would you mind letting me know if the Jade is back to doing 2 shows per evening for the Stardust Theatre and the show times or if they're still just doing the one show per evening?

    Thanks

Not yet:( still just one show around 8/8:30

so far an illusionist, an acrobatic duo and a musician.

Pool isn’t nearly as crowded as our traditional carrinean itineraries. It’s our first Med itinerary so not sure how much is size of ship and Covid.

That is not what the notice says.  The notice states 'the sale of duty free goods including alcohol beverages is not permitted....' and probably relates more to the legal requirement to charge Greek vat on the sales and then make a vat return.  NCL have decided it is easier/cheaper for them to suspend sales outside of pre-paid packages for the duration of port visits.

To clarify- my “quotes” comment was from my TA regarding her response from NCL.

You are  likely right that NCL is taking an easier way out.
this post was in response to those who’ve asked to see the signage.
    happy Sails

  13. Hello-I considered placing this in the Greece Ports but I’ve noticed that people tend to only go there for “port talk” not necessarily NCL “stuff”

If I need to move it, so be it:)

anywho-live update re: boarding, Covid tests etc.

mom NCL Jade June 19-26 2022

*We TESTED last night - during the 24 hour window. We used Azova online proctored with pre purchased Flow Flex tests.

*we have results in our phone from our tests. We arrived at the port at 11:05AM

*hardly anyone here upon arrival—> very clear where to go via the blue ropes. We were promptly informed what we needed:

    passports

cruise docs (paper or on phone)

    vaccine cards/paperwork

And IF WE HAD OUR test results within 24 hours, have those ready.
we waited five minutes in line before seeing someone to pre-register. We showed them everything asked, someone took our luggage.

*because we HAD our test results we received a pink bracelet immediately, as well as the yellow circle sticker. We then passed the “testing tent” and proceeded to second tent/building.

*we were then given a colored ticket- this was at 11:15 AM  we were seated with brown card we were told there were 3 colored ahead of us and it would be some time since check in wasn’t open.

*at 11:25AM Brown card were called

we proceeded into the check in building-they were clearly staggering groups between building to lessen lines.
we checked in- needing our passports, docs, and taking new pics.
then security line took another 8 minutes or so.

*we were on board by 12:05 PM

*everyone is encourage to proceed to their Muster area FIRST before heading to Deck 12 for lunch

*we did this, scanned card and went to The Great Outdoors. We had drinks in hand by 12:20PM

    YMMV but hopefully this helps!!

  14. Hello, since many have asked, myself included. Here is the actual language of the signs. This is posted at the bar near the Great Outdoors on the Jade right now.
my TA spoke with someone at NCL two weeks ago and it is true (currently) that the “government isn’t allowing alcohol sales while in any Greek Port until out at sea” however anyone with a prepaid beverage package gets drinks as the sale occurred previously.
today we got two drinks (a cocktail and a hard cider) at The Great Outdoors and there are No Receipts while in port.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks all! It's looking worse now but I have travel insurance. Trains were sold out too and so were rental cars.

I thought I planned enough ahead with coming in the night before and about 3 flights away from the last flight of the night yesterday but I'm not sure what I could have done about this level of cancelations. I think ONE of the TEN afternoon/ evening flights to Boston from DC yesterday made it. (All airlines).

Yea, BOS was a hot mess. We made it out but we’re delayed enough that we missed our Paris connection to Athens.
BOS schedules are  still up in the air regrading timeliness because of how bad things were overnight with delays/cancellations.
mad I mentioned, I believe you can make it-with no issues with flight and if you get speedy transport. Good luck!!

Hi. I was supposed to fly to Boston tonight to get on the Pearl leaving tomorrow, but my flight tonight was canceled (I did not book my flights thru NCL).

    1. How fast could I likely get from Boston airport to the cruise terminal? (My new flight gets in at 11:30am, *if* it leaves on time and departure time is 4:00pm).

    2. Has anyone ever missed their departure and met the ship at a port? The NCL rep told me they'd need to get permission from the boat for me to do this and that could take 24 hours.

    3. Any other thoughts or advice?

IF you get right out of Logan, you could make it. It’s tight but doable! How are you planning to get to the terminal? Traffic has been a beaSt…
