  1. We are cruising next week, 5 of us in a cabin. This means that the fifth person has his own booking number generated and has to check-in separately. What we did was to indicate during online check-in that all five of us (including the fifth person) would have our expenses charged to the same credit card (mine). No problem, all done.

I have just printed our Setsail passes, four of us in one pass (Setsail pass A) and the fifth in the other (Setsail pass B). Looking through them, Setsail Pass A states that all five of us will be using X credit card bearing XXX number etc. Setsail Pass B however states payment type as Cash. I re-logged in to the fifth person's reservation and it still has my credit card details logged in for expenses so there is nothing for me to amend.

Is this something I should be worried about and get checked out prior to my cruise? Or can we just wait till we get to the check-in counter to sort this out?

    Thanks!

  2. OP - we were on the Harmony in June, sailing in Sky class. No chocolates, no clotheslines but I didn't expect those so no loss to me. I am not sure what was promised you but I didn't think there was a lot, if any, missing. We loved CK, the free internet, the cabin and the lounge and we thought service (bear in mind this was only the first cruise out of Barcelona) was great if a little unsettled. The Royal IQ app was a mess, our reservations were cancelled out of the blue but nothing the helpful concierge couldn't sort out. Sorry you are not enjoying yourself though.

  3. I am just off Reflection. This is exactly what Guest Services told me too. If we designated their name on the paper from GS the tip would go directly to the designated person. The paper could only be used for the services that are normally covered with the daily gratuity charge. If we gave cash it would stay with the person we gave it to. One of the people we tipped was the sommelier so we handed them an envelope. Again, we were told he could keep that money.

Sounds good - I will check with Guest Services once I get on the Connie, hopefully it will be the same case. Thanks!

  4. Midnight buffet with the wonderful ice sculptures. Not sure if it's because our taste buds have gotten more sophisticated (or numb??) but I thought food in the MDR was not "just" banquet food but really wonderful and a treat from what we would normally eat back home. Oh and the baked alaska (or what it's called??) parade.

  5. Great news - I am from a non-tipping culture but I agree with this move; would much rather pay an all inclusive fare knowing basic grats are covered. Just wondering now what perk will CEL give for Go Best in place of gratuities or will they just tweak the promo.

  6. Thank you for your review! We have just booked our first cruise on the Reflection in an S1 and this is very handy. A couple of questions - I noticed you asked your cabin steward to look at discounts for specialty dining. Did he success to get you a discount? And is this usually what you would ask the butler to do instead of the cabin steward? We get confused as to the duties of these two staff and to whom we should direct requests such as this.

Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

  7. I was able to secure a cheaper price for an S1 early yesterday morning, but my friend said she had an increase..mistake by Celebrity...I also got all the perks...put deposit down and transferred to my TA....

The website didn't show any perk apart from the OBC of US$300 - I had to go direct to my TA to book and she said the Go Best was still applicable. Phew. :)

  8. Hahaha, but isn't that the truth. My favorite is always seeing that all the cabins and suites are already booked, even though they were just released!

I booked early yesterday morning around 5:00 AM. Then I called Captain's Club rove sure and paid the deposit quickly. It was a good thing that I did, as the price went up 100 in a couple of hours AND they were all sold out of suites on the Reflection...really?????

The exact same thing happened to us. We booked yesterday when the sailings were released, I entered the sailing into my usual cruise fare monitoring website. This morning I received an alert that the prices had moved up by a $100 each category. I went to the web to check for the fun of it but could never get past the point where I keyed in the number of persons and room category. It invariably (and still does) shows the error message (oops we have run out of xxx cabins and would you like to check our other sailings). But I know there are plenty of cabins available as my TA managed to switch our cabins easily without any hassle. Celebrity really has to get their act together!

  9. Yes...it has the Spider...window washing equipment....I found that too and booked one deck lower for April, 2018 and deck 12 for April,, 2018. I have heard about a little noise, but my DH is up early and sleeps like a rock. I love the S1 corner afts!

That's good to know! I booked the deck lower. I had thought I had snared a piece of prime real estate given how the PH deck aft S1s were considered such on the other S-class ships and then went into mini panic mode when I realised otherwise :roll eyes:

It will be our first time in an S1 so we are looking forward to it. We are in an RS for the next CEL cruise (upgraded at a decent price after final payment) but think the S1/S2s will be where we are likely to cruise given our needs.

  10. If it's partially obstructed because of window-washing equipment then I wouldn't worry. Never sailed on Reflection so the cabin numbers are different from Equinox and Eclipse which we've sailed on 4 times each -- BUT we did have one of the S1s on Eclipse and it was the corner aft with window washing. It was a non-issue. It blocked some view if you looked straight down but it wasn't a big deal compared to the rest of the large clear view. Occasionally in the daylight hours there would be a little hum of the motor as it was working (washing windows) everywhere. But if that's your obstruction I wouldn't worry.

We will choose corner aft S1 every time.

Thanks! We emailed our TA and managed to change our cabin to the one directly below where we are sure there isn't any window washing equipment. :)

  11. Thanks all. I guess I will have to wait until I get onboard the Connie to see what the practice on THAT particular ship is ;) Over two cabins where all but two persons' grats have been prepaid, it would be ideal if some of that OBC can be directly applied to persons who render outstanding service (instead of being withdrawn and incurring a withdrawal fee) but let's see. Will report back come February.

  12. If your OBC is refundable you can withdraw it as cash on the last night and pay your staff members as you wish. If your OBC is non refundable it can be used to increase gratuities but my understanding is that if you do it goes into the pool and you cant be guaranteed that your favourite staff member will see any of it. If you want to tip extra then do so in cash

The OBC from my TA is usually refundable (from RCL experience) but I will check again. Good to know I can withdraw as cash on the last night. USD is not my home currency so if we could use the excess to tip that would be a good way of utilising it.

The butler and cabin steward can be tipped from your OBC. Not sure why only them, but we did it on our ABC islands cruise last month.

Exactly what we needed to hear, thank you very much! Did you try tipping other staff which is why you found out only the cabin steward and butler can be singled out but not the rest?

  13. Sorry to start another tipping thread but I couldn't find exactly what we wanted to know. We will have a large amount of OBC on our next Celebrity sailing and all suggested gratuities have been pre-paid via the Go Best promotion (usually we would use OBC to cover the grats). Can we allocate OBC to specific staff on board as additional gratuities? I am thinking of the butler (if we use his services at all) and other individuals whom we might like to give an extra tip.

I know it can be done for a fee on RCL but am not sure if OBC can be withdrawn from the account on Celebrity ships so was thinking this could be one way of utilising it if it is possible.

    Thanks!

  14. suite guests were never allowed Blu on a regular basis

    and there was a surcharge

I think the surcharge has been removed. The new CEL suites programme rollout last year removed the surcharge although I believe Suite passengers can still only dine on an as-available basis.

  15. we booked and S1 Italy/Greece for 2018, got 300 OBC and the go best perks...premium drinks, all gratuities, unlimited internet...I thought the price was ok.

We booked same cabin and same itinerary as well and got Go Best. The website only showed US$300 OBC and later on showed the no available rooms for our sailing but we called our TA and they had good availability and Go Best perks. Hopefully the website glitches will be fixed sooner rather than later.

  16. I am going to book the Greece/Italy cruise for June 2018, it will be hubby's 50th birthday.

I wanted to ask if we should book now or wait until we are onboard Silhouette in April. If I book now can I still take advantage of onboard booking (I'm thinking no.)

    Help!

I would choose to book early - I was going to book the Ireland/Iceland cruise for May 2018 and the cabins I wanted (S1 on Deck 11) were no longer available (this was mid-day EST). My TA sent me a list of available cabins and there were plenty but not all in good locations (only Deck 11 had sold out, other sought after decks had one left etc). Not sure if you book now whether you can cancel and rebook onboard though.

  17. I agree. the s1 price for Italy and greek islands was not bad at all. I was expecting 10K out of the gate and that's not the case. Yeah!

We booked an S1 for one of these Italy and Greek Islands cruises onboard the Reflection, which was only $200 more than an S2. Was hoping for better Baltic itineraries or an Iceland cruise that covered more than just 2 ports but it was not to be. Agree that the prices for the Italy and Greek Islands cruises (S1/S2) are not bad at all but could be better for the other cruises.
