  1. Door decorating is no longer allowed? We decorate our door every cruise!

Door decorating is absolutely allowed, they just tightened down on what you can use. All materials must be fire retardant. So basically no more making your own decorations using paper\cardboard type materials.

Carnival's website has clear details on what's allowed, plus many threads here, so decorate and have fun!

  2. are you aware the kids clubs do scavenger hunts. and there is a digital scavenger hunt onboard one day?

Yes but there is no guarantee they will attend the clubs. I was mainly thinking its a good way to get them used to ship on day one and if we are exploring as a family its not as boring when following the parents around [emoji3]

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

  3. A model ship (ever ship I have been on has at least one)

    A piano

    A clock

A sports jersey (The Pride has a sports bar I think)

    An Ice cream cone

Various nautical items that are a lot of times used in the decor, like anchors, ship's wheel, compass, globe or maps, etc.

I had piano and ice cream cone on my list, I didn't know about the model of the ship, that will be added to the list Thanks!

  4. My family loves scavenger hunt types of activities (geocaching) and we are sailing on the Pride in July. I'm looking to setup my own hunt for my kids to give them some fun the first day or so and allow them to explore the ship in a non-boring (I have to follow mom and dad around) kind of way.

I'm looking for suggestions of things to add to the list, both general that could be on all ships and those specific to Pride.

My kids are 12 and 14 so the items could include things like ordering a virgin pina colada from a bar or find the coin on the ship. Some interaction with staff is cool too, picture with the CD or a photo of someone's ship on a stick.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks!

  5. If you are able to arrive the night before that would be my biggest suggestion. I'll share a quick personal experience - My first cruise we booked the flight through the cruise line. We live in MA and were cruising out of FL. Some stupid reason the cruise line suggested we fly that morning and the flight was routed through Chicago (which is not at all on the way FL) and they were getting a snow storm there. So delayed getting to Chicago, delayed getting to FL, luckily there were about 40 other people on our flight for this cruise so they "held" the ship for us (assuming it was cheaper for them to hold the ship vs shuttle us to the next port). But the stress was so bad I will never do that to myself again, now we always go a day early.

Packing, excursions, money to bring, etc....everyone is giving good advice on this post and your others. Relax enjoy it and just make notes of how you would do it differently next time.

  6. Our tip is, my husband reaches in and slides the fridge just far enough forward so that the door will not close all the way... it stays cracked about an inch.

Doing this you don't have to worry about running into the door wide open when you run around, and it vents the fridge just enough to get nice and cold. I too will stash some milk or even a desert for later consumption in my room fridge.;)

Brilliant, will certainly try this out! :Dclear.png?emoji-grin-1677

  7. After doing a lot of searches on the topic I still have a couple questions. I do understand you can ask for it in the dining room and get it at the buffet during breakfast, but I'm still wondering:

    1. Bubbles Package - It does not say milk is included, nor does it say it's not included. Does anyone have experience to know if it's included or not?

    2. Bars - Can you go up to a bar and ask for milk just as you do for a soda or juice? I'm also assuming there is a cost but would also look for a confirmation on that too.

    Thanks!

  8. Even for a child who is 7? Or 12? They need a State issues picture ID, really? carnival does not say that anywhere.

    Can someone confirm?

They do not need a state issued \ school photo id until they are 15. Birth certificate is sufficient under 15.

I always thought photo id was 16+ but I was told told today by a Carnival PVP it's 15+. Not going to haggle over a year, I'll bring the photo id since my kid has one.

  9. I just booked a cruise minutes ago and the PVP said that my 15 yearold should bring her high school student photo id as well as her birth certificate. She said that 15, 16, 17 can use student id's. 18+ need state id's.

If using birth certificates and your name has changed (i.e. married) to bring a bridging document such as a marriage certificate. Of course a photo id as well such as your drivers license.

  10. My daughter is 15 and gets extreme anxiety about doing anything and when we booked a cruise she didn't want to go at first. I sat with her for hours (over the course of weeks) and watched youtube videos of our ship and the ports we were stopping at. She started to see how cool it was and her anxiety slowly started to subside.

Of course, like others have posted, at that age not wanting to do something can be for a number of reasons, actually scared to go, mad at you or her parent(s), going without a friend, etc... It's not for everybody but it may not hurt to have her talk to a counselor who specializes in child anxiety...just a suggestion, again not for everybody.

Hope she decides to go as I'm sure she will have a blast and then realize she was all worked up about nothing :-)

  11. I have cruised a couple times before but never just did a beach day. Is it safe to leave your towels and clothes (shorts, tshirt, shoes) on the beach or lounge chair while in the water. Please note - I am not talking about valuables, that's obvious, just talking about your basic non-important items.

We are taking our kids on our next cruise and they want to do beach days and I want to be sure all of us can enjoy the water together, not play games with one person always having to stay with our towels, etc...

    Thanks!

  12. Does Princess Cays have the inflatable activities in the water, such as slides, trampolines, etc or is it just beach and ocean?

I understand you can rent water activites, just wasn't sure if there was anything else available for kids and teens without an extra charge.

    Thanks!

  13. Would anyone happen to have pictures of what the storage looks like under the bed and how much you can fit? I think I have found a picture for every possible nook and cranny of most any cabin and still have not see one of under the bed storage.

    Thanks!

  14. To get back on the ship you just need your sign and sail card, I never had to produce an ID getting back on the ship while in port.

    For other needs:

    From the Carnival website:

Domestic Cruises (including Canada) that do not include travel to Cuba

For cruises that begin and/or end in a U.S port, the following WHTI-Compliant Documents are acceptable for cruise travel. These standard forms of documentation will enable the Department of Homeland Security to quickly and reliably identify a traveler. If a picture I.D. is not affixed to the WHTI-compliant document, a picture I.D. is required (a valid, unexpired government-issued photo I.D. for all guests 16 years of age or older). If the cruise includes air travel to or from Canada, a valid, unexpired U.S. passport is required.

US Customs and Border Protection site: U.S. citizens on closed-loop cruises will be able to enter or depart the country with proof of citizenship, such as an Enhanced Driver's License (EDL), a government-issued birth certificate (issued by the Vital Records Department in the state where he or she was born) or passport, and if 16 or older, a government issued driver's license, picture ID, denoting photo, name and date of birth.
