I mostly agree. The OP probably didn't get the comedic reference. When I read it, I actually pictured Steve and heard the voice in my head but that's just the movie/tv buff that I am. Does the OP watch "Only Murders in the Building"? Steve isn't the only former SNL actor on that show. Those early SNL episodes were way before my time but there have been so many stars that can trace back to SNL, I can go back and see what today's stars were like before they were stars.

Maybe a simple emoji (or emoticon if you're old) at the end of the sentence would help in the future.

The OP joined CC 18 years ago. Unless she joined as a toddler, I wouldn't consider her to be a "kid". 😁

I'm reminded of Morpheus and me back in the day!

    but as we all know

I find it refreshing that you found a typo on my part.  You are very much like me, it seems.  I can spot an error on the part of others easily, but have difficulty proofreading my own product.😉

I thought that it was funny. I thought that assuming that the OP was a male was just a simple mistake. I thought that MOTS was actually on the OP's side and was pointing out that MSC phone reps might make things worse than losing the deposit. I thought that we could all have a good laugh at the ineptitude of the reps when it comes to this simple matter.........

    .....but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

    (John Belushi reference) 😄

MOTS may well have been trying for humor, but as we all no, in this day and age humor is transitory.  When I read MOTS's comment and then saw def0715's response ("I hope that was a joke. I’ll go away now."), I think that a nerve may have been struck.  I suspect that her father may be closer in age to Morpheus and I (possibly you as well, given the Belushi reference), and so phrases from "back in the day" may likely be foreign to her. As such, I was trying to point out that the printed elongated "excuuuuuse me" likely has a different meaning to her, given the lack of context for her.  As an example, I asked my 35-year old daughter who John Belushi and Steve Martin were.  Her response was a blank. I then asked her what her reaction would be if someone IM'd her and wrote, "Well, excuuuuuse me," she said she would be angry. In my comment to MOTS, I merely tried to point that one may need to consider the context and impact of what is written.  After all, meaning lies in the receiver, not the sender of a message.  His flippant, "Well, excuuuuuse me" response indicates my effort was for naught.  I intended to alert, and apparently became a dreaded "interloper" to him.

    Well, excuuuuse me !

I don't think the Steve Martin parody response is appropriate to the simple point def0715 was trying to make. You and I are of an age where we could approve of Martin's tag line from the 70s, but it can be viewed in a more negative light currently. JMHO

Ah, the dreaded double negative! Does this mean a positive, that MSO will do something, or is at extra negative added at no cost to imply a really negative negative?  With mscdivina2016, I suspect the latter!

Some people simply love nothing better than having  a whinge, so will be itching to find something to complain about. 🙂

There are actually some of us who do go on holiday to enjoy ourselves and are able to accept the usually minor blips that one will experience as just that. 😉

So true about the complainers!  To paraphrase:

People always told me be careful of what you do
And don't go around breaking young cruisers' hearts
And mother always told me be careful of who you love
And be careful of what you do 'cause the lie becomes the truth

Everytime I read one of these MSC complaint threads, I feel that the MSC in the USA and the MSC in Europe are two different companies.

We too had our butler escort us from the YC then off the ship to where a taxi was waiting in Genoa, about a four minute walk. One of the reasons that the butlers can maybe take the time to do that is most cruises in Europe do "bus stop" embarkation. Only a percentage of the passengers actually disembark at each port.

I'm not so sure it is a time availability issue. I think the bigger reason stateside is that the butlers are generally not allowed off the ship, or at least through customs and immigration.

Thanks. I feel I just have to take "pics and videos" to back up my observations. DW will not let me film "interlopers" being asked to leave.

Without DW's permission to video the interlopers, don't your worry about coming across as Gladys Kravitz, peering at the interlopers from behind the curtains?  😁☺️

Lol, pizza waiting...or pizza to eat. That will teach me not to respond before I'm fully awake.

I was just kidding!  At first glance, I read it as "...having the butler eating a pizza in my room each night."

The only real perks I partake in are not having to wait in lines and having the butler have a pizza eating in my room each night 😀

What does the pizza eat in your room?☺️😁

Best of luck getting your choice of dining.  Depending upon which ship you're on and how full it is, you could have many different time slots which you could be assigned to.  We're currently on the Meraviglia and it could be 530, 730, or 930 in two dining rooms or 600 or 830 in another.  If you choose late, it'll be 830 or 930.  Early could be 530 or 600.  Don't know whether they consider 730 as early or late.

The shows on board are also at 700, 830 and 1000 each evening.  We chose the 700 show after our 530 dinner, so at 745 we have the rest of the evening for other entertainment or consumption of beverages of our choice.

Technically, with Bella you can't "choose."  You can indicate a preference for early or late, but MSC will ultimately assign your time, and it could be contrary to your preference.

Well, I learned something today. I booked a Bella balcony and was assigned Seaside cabin 10005 today.  I was not happy first time booking Bella my fault. I knew I would be under penalty if I rebooked and it would cost me $199. Plus I had booked on a flash sale and the prices are now higher. Also, it is my understanding you cannot request a different cabin when booking Bella.
What I decided to do after talking with the excellent rep was downgrade my booking. I had no idea you could even do this.  I downgraded it to an oceanview (Bella) and received a credit of $140. I’ve never stayed in an ocean view. It will be interesting to see what cabin I am assigned but it couldn’t be as bad as that balcony one in my opinion of course.

Anyhow I did not know you could downgrade without penalty.   From everything I’ve read you had to re-book.

As I recall, you book physically challenged rooms, don't you?  You should be fine in an oceanview.

Yes, there are people who unscrupulously book themselves into a HC room even though they really don't need the space because of a scooter or wheelchair.  And like you said if there are HC rooms left to be assigned, then MSC will obviously assign them to those who booked Bella or won an upgrade.  But at the same time, they should know the difference between those who booked those cabins needing those cabins versus those that got them assigned.

Prior to boarding, they would only know what you complete on the Special Needs form (typically required when booking a physically challenged room).  On that form, you indicate what assistance you need in boarding and/or while on board.  To your point, MSC trusts what you enter, so if a person is "unscrupulous", as you say, then that is the information the crew goes by.  And, of course, a person who does not use a wheelchair can still require assistance navigating the ship.

I cant find anywhere on the site to do this-  DH has booked a massage and thermal spa package and I would like to cancel one.  Can I do this and how do I go about doing it?  Should I call?  Thanks!

I did a cancellation prior to our last cruise.  I did it by calling into the main number.  Surprisingly, I got right through to a capable and friendly customer service representative!

  16. I think you are asking some good questions, particularly if these things are a concern to you.  With Aurea on Seascape, you will have a better and enhanced check-in and boarding experience, as well as Anytime Dining in a dining room reserved for Aurea guests (same kitchen as the MDRs, but you are likely to get more experienced wait staff.  The spa is nice, but to my mind, the best perk is a private sun deck for Aurea guests, with a dedicated bar on that sun deck.  No worries about chair hogs!  If it is affordable for you, I would go with the Aurea experience.

  17. Not to be flippant, but you can always ask!  That being said, it is very likely that they will not be able to accommodate your request. We usually bring a small for use on the bedside table.

Just regular. The Mera has the rear area which works fine for those shows. The seashore has a double deck venue/lounge on 7&8.

To clarify, the theater in the back (Le Cabaret Rouge) may indeed have shows, but there is no surcharge like on Meraviglia.  When Seashore debuted in the USA, they did have musical shows (small troupe of singers and dancers).  Not sure if they will have shows when it comes to Port Canaveral, but it is likely that there will be some sort of entertainment options in that space.
