  1. We are booked on the Navigator for 11/23 also. Final payment is due next week. RCCI has my gift certificates from AARP & I am waiting for them to post the credit. I have been studying the deck plans & the pictures RC has been sending me. It looks great so I am really excited to try a new ship. I am also traveling a new way to get there (by train). I have rented a scooter for hubby instead of driving down & bringing his with us. He'll use his rollator until he get on the ship.

There are also a lot of great tips on these boards. I have learned so much from these experienced cruisers. Some I didn't pay enough attention to & suffered the consequences. My own fault.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  2. We have used Special Needs @ Sea & were very satisfied. We finally bought one that DH uses. We also bring his rollator which I push on & is very convenient for carrying our CPAPs & carry-ons. He uses that when he goes on land in port so he won't damage the scooter on the ramps. It folds up so I'm assuming he can use it on the tender to Grand Cayman.

Our next cruise, we have rented a scooter because we are going by train. If we don't drive I would be very comfortable using Special Needs @ Sea.

  3. Just a quick follow up. I called my TA tonight & she called RCI. I have to complete the certificates, scan them 7 email them to SharedServicesGiftCertificateRedemption@rccl.com. I scanned both front & back of the certificates of the 4 I have & emailed them tonight. I should know something in up to 10 business days. I'll continue to keep you posted.

I received an email back from them today that they received this email & they credited my account for this amount. I contacted my TA & it has not posted yet. I hope they send me an email when they receive the rest of the certificates ($1500 worth). In the meanwhile, my TA has withdrawn $500 from my CC to post against my balance. She explained that RCCL will only take enough certificates to pay off my account & return the rest to me. So it looks like I will have some certificates to use to pay for my next cruise.

  4. We were ready to disembark off the Anthem, waiting for our number to be called when I realized I left my cane in our cabin. I just felt rushed & walked out without it. I didn't remember where I left it so went to the buffet where we had breakfast. No cane. Then I went to customer service. No one had turned it in. Now I was frantic. I don't need it all the time but I do need it occasionally. CS asked for my stateroom room & they called the steward & had him check there. He called them back to say he found it & he brought it to CS where I was waiting. I was so thankful I hadn't gotten off the ship yet. In the meanwhile, I was so upset I had to rush to the restroom (I was sick). DH (in a scooter) was waiting for me when I returned to our waiting area to inform me our number had been called. We were driving so I wasn't concerned about the time. I felt like that steward had gone out of his way to bring that to me. I should have gave him a commendation but DH was rushing me to disembark. I know this experience wasn't as bad as some have had but it was the closest I had to losing something.

  5. I received my last 15 $100 RCC gift cards from AARP today. There were no $500 cards available. I copied & emailed them to RCC immediately. They now have $1,900 worth of gift cards from AARP to be used for my final payment. They said it would take up to 10 days so we'll see. Once again, I'll keep you posted.

I have not heard anything from RCC yet. However, my TA took $500.00 out of my account that I wasn't counting on losing. I wonder who will reimburse me that money. I wonder when the additional $1500.00 will be taken. This has been a nightmare. Carnival handled this much better.

  6. I bought Carnival egift cards from AARP & used them though my TA. Everything went very smoothly & quickly. I also bought extra ecards & bought cruise cash for expenses like gratuities & VISA's (for Cuba) through Carnival. I was very satisfied & saved quite a bit on money. I wish RCC was as easy. I would do it again in a heartbeat with Carnival.

  7. I booked a cruise on Navigator in November. I got an email a couple of days ago saying they changed the time of one of my excursions from 1:00 pm to 10:45 am. The issue was I had another excursion booked at 8:30 am for 3 hrs. I called RCI tonight & explained the conflict. I bought this excursion quite a while ago when they were on sale for $52.00. The agent had to cancel my booking & book a new booking for $65.00 since the promo had expired. I stated that since this was not my fault I should not have to pay the full price. The agent went to their resolution team & I received an OBC for $30.00 to be applied to the difference. I was polite when I talked with Wayne (the agent) & this may have been why it was taken care of so satisfactory. I did the survey & I gave them high marks for solving this conflict.

I read so much negative comments about Royal Caribbean I thought I would share a positive comment.

  8. I did not see this thread until today. I ordered & received $400 of AARP RCI gift certificates. I ordered & am waiting for an additional $1,500 worth of certificates. I booked my cruise with a TA. I used AARP Carnival certificates with my TA recently. I was very satisfied so I expected to do the same with Royal Caribbean. Now I am very nervous. I did read to scan & email the certificates so I'm hoping that will suffice for the TA. If not, you better believe I will request a refund. That is $1,900.00! I have to wait for the rest so I can do them all at once. I'll let you know how I make out.

  9. Thanks for posting this review. We will be on the Paradise in August for Cuba. It will be our first time on her & first time cruising out of Tampa. It is only our second time on Carnival. How does the Paradise compare to the Pride? We cruised on her 2 years ago.

We will be driving down I-95 from Delaware. I'm giving myself 2 days so plenty of time. You drove right past our house if you came over the Delaware Memorial Bridge. We can watch the traffic coming into Delaware from our front door.

Anxious to read the rest of this review. Keep up the good work.

  10. We were on the Pride 2 years ago & went into the dining room for breakfast one day. I had the most awesome blueberry pancakes I've ever had! Do they have them on the Paradise & is it a special or do they have them every day? If so, I'll have to insist we go there for breakfast. Hubby doesn't care for the dining room, he'd rather go buffet for every meal. I'd rather have someone serve me for a change.

  11. I just had to reply to your comments about scooter people. My hubby uses a scooter. He does not run into people but people cut in front of him constantly. They have actually cut in front of him as I was holding the elevator door for him & filled the elevator so we couldn't get in. There are 2 sides to every story, or in this case, 2 different type of people using scooters. We are all human. Good or bad.

  12. I went on the very first WW cruise last year. A WW chef went on board the week before & trained their chefs how to cook WW friendly. We were seated at either the MDR for meals with our own menus showing the points (including desert) without bread baskets showing up or in the buffet with a WW section showing the points. There were tables for WW cruisers so you didn't have to worry about people checking over your plate.

There were lectures, demonstrations, parties, classes, & meetings every day. I even volunteered to share a room so I didn't have to spend as much. They matched me up with a very nice woman from CA & we were able to communicate prior to the cruise.

I think everyone on that cruise took all the attitudes & feelings we have been learning & used them that week. I even got a nice compliment on my nail polish! That made my day.

You have to pay close attention to your planner to choose what you want to do because there are so many activities. I was free to do what I wanted in the ports & I was able to see the shows in the theater.

I would definitely cruise this again. I highly recommend it. By the way, leave room in your suitcase for all the freebies WW hands out every day.

    Enjoy your WW cruise.

  13. So, am I correct in assuming we both don't have to purchase the soda package? DH doesn't drink soda but I do. Neither of us drink alcohol or virgin drinks or beer or wine or specialty coffee. We usually make do with the complimentary drinks unless I find a soda package sale.

We are cruising in November & am considering a Wi-Fi package for 1 device & a soda package if I can get a decent sale.
