It’s been 16 years since I was on Holland America and formal nights were pretty glitzy with long gowns and fancy cocktail dresses and tux for men.  I’m going on the Rotterdam on April 10th and as wondering what the dress apparel is for these nights.  Is it more business casual?

can women wear capris and blouses in the dining room on most nights?

Hi we don’t drink enough to justify buying drink pkgs we were wondering if there is a drink menu which shows wine, beer and cocktails available with prices on this site.  We are sailing on the Brillance of the Sea on December 7th.

Does RCCI still offer drink cards, Eg. 8 alcoholic drinks for say 100.00 or buy 5 beers and get 6 beers in a bucket anymore.  We are on Brillance of the sea in December and really don’t drink much so an drink pkg. would not be worth it for us. Hoping they still have these specials.  Appreciate if anyone could let me know.

Does anyone know if they still serve lobster in the main dining room on the Veendam.

IT doesn’t look there is a beach there but taxis are offered to do tours and go to beaches.  I haven’t been yet so I can’t answer where the beaches are. I am just getting my information from the internet on the Amber Cove’s websites.

Hi can any one advise how far it is the cruise ship dock to the swim up bar and pool in Amber Cove.  I have mobility issues and use a walker and cannot walk for long distance.

is there any type of transportation supplied by the port for eg. golf carts, trams or wheelchairs like they have in some other Caribbean ports.

I agree with Vitalsign that there were still a lot of openings on the excursions to book once we boarded. I can’t comment on anything for Panama as we didn’t want to do anything here as we had done the canal several times with another cruiseline.  

Go to Interactive Kiosks once on board to book excursions which are on deck 5 Near the elevators  so you don’t need to wait for the excursion desk to open.

We have done three cruises on Discovery 2 thru Sunwing and you cannot book excursions, upgrade drink pkg.etc. Until you are on board.  Sometimes your cabins # is assigned early and then sometimes changed at boarding and other times you don’t have your cabin # until you board.

i have never seen a Marella reference or booking # on any of my documents, only on the final bill when leaving the ship.

Hi if you have the easy drink pkg. but don’t want to upgrade as I don’t drink much and hubby only drinks beer which is on the pkg.  if I decide I want a drink that is on the premium pkg. do I pay full price or just the difference eg. 6.00 to 12.00 = pay difference of $6.00

I’m on Discovery 2 Exotic explorer on April 16th and am looking for excursions,specifically beaches.  The excursions do not suit us on TUI website as we have limited mobility. Can anyone who has been on this cruise recommend any excursions.

Also does anyone know if the pier at Costa Maya has the tram running yet?  It wasn’t working when we were there in January.  The walk is just to long for us.

We were in Costa Maya in mid January 2019 and there was no tram.  I have mobility issues and walked it with my cane.  Had to stop several times to rest and by the time I got to end I was totally exhausted so was in no mood to go shopping or to go further into the port.

Upon returning to the ship I was lucky to grab one of the 4 wheel chairs and attendant from the port and was transported back to my ship.

I have sailed on several different cruise lines and am now thinking of going on the Seaside.

I have a few questions before I book if anyone can answer.

We are booking thru Sunwing vacations which offer the Fantastica experience with drinks on us pkg.  Can anyone explain what the fantastica experience and the drinks on us pkg is like?

I have mobility issues and sometimes use a walker, would the cabin be big enough to have this in the cabin?

Any information I can get from anyone in regard to the ship would be greatly appreciated and would help me to make the decision to book this cruise.

I was just off the Getaway and my neighbour had an iron board and iron sitting outside her cabin so I am assuming she borrowed it and it was sitting outside her cabin to be picked up.

We just got off the Getaway with our 3 yr. old grandson. He went to the kids club the first night and loved it and was there just over an hour and half. Next morning we took him to the kids club and left him there until they closed for lunch. When we picked him up he was crying and the girl told us he had been crying on and off and they were calling our rooms to come get him but off course we were on the pool deck.

We tried to take him back to the kids club but he didn’t want to go.  He wanted to spend all day at the kids water park. Not sure why he didn’t want to go to the kids club as he is used to playing with other children as he goes to day care and kids play  day club and is involved in many recreational sports.

Our neighbours on the ship had two children that spent every day in the kids club and loved it.

We just returned from the Getaway on a family vacation.  We had 3 cabins booked,my 3yr old grandson was booked in one cabin with my daughter (his aunt) and my grandson’s parents were in another cabin with my 8 mo. old grandson. My husband and I had the third cabin.

NCL emailed a document to my daughter to fill out and get my grandson’s parents to sign in order to have him stay in the cabin with her.  They never asked for it.

She did have an issue at the airport where the US boarder  guards ask for her permission paper for taking a minor over the boarder.  She explained she was travelling with his parents and the guard called them over and Ask to see their passports , asked them a few question and sent them on thru.  No issues coming back home to Canada.

So it’s random if asked for permission when travelling with a minor.  Myself I have always travelled with a notarized document when travelling with my daughter when she was a minor.  Never had to show it. But would rather be safe than sorry when I spent that much money on a vacation and was denied travelling.

Hi we are going on a family cruise January 13th and at that time my grandson will be 8 months old and will still be eating baby food.

Does anyone know if the ship(NCL Getaway) will be able to provide purée food or should we bring our own in jars or pouches.  If we need to bring own how much would you suggest to bring?

I went on Discover 2 in April 2018 and am on her again on Dec.11/2018 thru Sunwing. You get your cabin# (if you have not already been assigned) your luggage Tags, when arrive at the pier. I don’t ever remember seeing a TUi confirmation #.  I just looked at our guest bill and it has our cabin # and an account #.

I was told by Sunwing that Canadians cannot book anything with TUI before we board.  Their website does not recognize our Sunwing booking #. When we were on in April there were still execursions available to book.

Hoping  to book a couple once we board on Dec. 11th.

I had the same issue and called NCL and was  advised to switch browser to “google” it worked.
