  1. We just did the Mediterranean in Aug on the magic. Our daughter was 9 and we are from Seattle. We have always done the late seating a in the caribe a given it keeps us on our time zone. The issue we had with the late seating on this cruise was our excursions had us off the boat at 7:30am. Dinner had us back to the room at 10pm. Long, hot days with tons of walking had us cranky in the Mornings. Very very cranky. I would do early if I was to go again with long days. We were back on board by 4:30. We would have quickly freshened up and headed to dinner and been in bed by 8.

  2. I respectfully disagree. We've run into dining room staff who most definitely remembered us. We also have favorites who we request when we're back on their ship. I've maintained friendships with them after the cruise.

     

    Totally agree with you. We even have one server and his family stay with us while on vacation. In fact I make a personal note to get to know others, like my dentist whom actually just asked about the health of a plant I had planted one year prior we joked about. It is not uncommon for people to remember others. If they make an effort to do so. But it's a two way street and typically people who treat others as they are beneath them won't ever experience this. Or Perhaps we have personalities they want to remember unlike someone in particular responding to this thread (whose posts by the way had ZERO to do with the question posed and who appears to never have experienced the Disney service that has crew remembering past guests .)

  3. we are headed in a Mediterranean cruise in August on the magic. We have had some AMAZING servers on past DCL cruises but also that were just ok. ( didn't impact our trip, but didn't make dinner special if that makes sense)

    Anyone have someone they love?we are looking for friendly, fun and maybe even tricks for our 9 year old. But really just someone that is thoughtful and personable.

  4. I want to call out there are no star class lines except for zip lining and surfing. Your genie does NOT meet to walk you off on port days to ensure you get where you need to to. Ours stated only when you get on day one ( whom we were not brought on by ours but another) and when you disembark. Port days you are in long lines like everyone else looking for signs of where to go.

  5. Hubby and I were just talking about tip amounts. We will still tip our genie but it will be less then our planned amount. I am also very much about feedback ( giving and receiving ) so will share a few basic things she can do to maybe improve. Again, could be my expectations were too high!

     

    One will be if a family states they like to sleep in and the do not disturb sign is still up don't call at 8 am on a sea day And if everyday someone orders the very same coffee perhaps by day 5 when you call them you ask if they want it vs seeming surprised when they order it again. Especially if everyday they repeat this will be our daily breakfast?

  6. We are on allure now. We have the Internet package and as long as the red "gps not found" bar pop up and you click passenger and light an insensce he will catch a ton. Keep in mind there are no poke stops tell port so he needs to stock up on balls. Some rarer ones my daughter has caught pikachu tangla sandslash magmar but again he must light an insensce

  7. No they move/switch cabins so if you are lucky you will get someone else. I will post a full review when we get back but I can tell you for what we paid, what is advertised and what the brochure promised our experience was far from even meeting our expectations( which to be fair might be to high. We have had a nice trip (it is vacation after all!!!) but no where near anything special in terms of service.

  8. If I was to guess those who not heard have marla as ourselves and another family that have her never got the questionnaire. We did get the email from her with time to board one week prior. Seems those who hot the full lust of question hotbitbabout 2 weeks prior. Here is a muss u think as genies are busy on board with guests. Why not have a land genie in charge or reaching out to everyone? Would avoid some getting emails others not. There is nobeeadin this contact couldn't book dinners etc and pass the info onto the genie. I referenced several things in my email back to marla none of which I think she read.

  9. Ok perhaps someone can help me as I am quite frankly disappointed. Maybe someone telling me I am wrong and my expectations are too high is all I need:

     

    In the one and only email from our genie with a welcome (no questionaire) I told her we could use advise on what to do in jamaca. We wanted a relaxing day at the beach. Stated this again when she met with us on embarkation day at 3. She arrived last night at 9:40 during dinner with one option. At over $250 per person. Jamaca is today. I said no something less $$ and she seemed upset and said none of her passengers ever take group excursions. She then told me to look on the tv. I said we arrive tomorrow and it is 9:40 at night. We are still eating dinner!?!! But I said fine and said I would call her. She looked at her watch and said how late?!!!? Sorry but you are the one coming to me st 9:40 pm. Fast forward to booking a basic transfer to the beech.she states tickets will be outside our door. I confirm there is nothing else we need; there are no towels at all. Wouldn't that be thinking ahead? They have no towels on the gangway unlike Disney who has them everywhere as you leave the ship. We had a great time despite no towels. We arrive back to our room and decide to shower and order lunch in from Johny rockets. Sure No problem it will be 50 min and a charge for my daughters milkshake?! Really?! I just do not get it

  10. Yes he brought us on board but Marla is our genie. She is very sweet but the random this is included this is not is so odd to me. As is waiting 45 plus min for room service each time. We ate at chops and were not impressed but the waiter said everything was included and then charged us for the aged steak. Just odd. They were out of Sprite in the soda gun and were going to charge for the can? Again just odd to me we booked a cabana months ago and got to labadee today only to not have the cabana we reserved and even confirmed with Marla. We are huge Disney cruisers so it is interesting to compare things. Waited in line and guest services for 45 min to get quarters for the medicine vending machine (hubby needed Benadryl) and Marla confirmed only place to get them was deck 2 and with $4 in quarters. I don't carry that many quarters so she sent me to guest services. Wow are they understaffed and SLOW. Finally made my way down with a pocket full of quarters. It actually took the room charge card so waisted a good 45 min for nothing. It actually was $5 do wouldn't have had enough anyway?! A star line might have been helpful or perhaps her meeting me there to help get through faster?

  11. We are on allure now in 1720 and Francisco is who brought us on board. he is a very sweet guy!! I can tell you we have gotten a lot of not sure don't know or let me Check with our requests. No big deal we will see what comes of them. Example having our Starbucks brought up each morning. We waited to book everything and now have an issue with a shore excursion. Really the only one we wanted which we mentioned in our 1st and only email with our genie. She is trying to make it work so we will see. So if there is something you really want to do I would book it. They don't have control over outside venues like they do onboard with dinner and shows. I will say the only other thing I am not a fan of is the star line for flowrider. I feel weird having my 8 year old cut in front of everyone. Maybe I shouldn't but I do so we wait in the long line. Thinking opening it early or later for star class for exclusive rides might be better? Then we just stand in line the rest of the time? But we are having a nice relaxing time so far!

  12. No, like I said, outside of the email I got Sunday and responded to right away, I have heard nothing. No loop, no port check in time. Nothing.

     

    We are low maintenance, but would like to know if our 2 (what I think are pretty basic) requests were filled? I am not going to worry, she has people she is looking after now, I totally get it! Just was hoping maybe a "this is confirmed" or "got your email" would have been sent :)

  13. so outside of the email from Marla with a few questions (time we are arriving at port) we have not heard a thing for our 8/21 allure cruise. I decided not to worry about it.

     

    I did reply to Marla with a few requests (cabana, reservations at the Izmui grill ) She responded to the mail instead of forwarding it asking Jeremias and Dexter (assuming they are concierges) to reserve our cabana. I replied letting her know she sent it to me, not to them.

     

    I have not heard anything back. No confirmation on getting my requests booked. No confirmation on time to arrive at port. Nothing, not even a thanks, will look over and work on your requests. Is that normal?

     

    Anyone else reply to their genie and get a response?
