    Hello fellow cruisers!!

I'm on this sailing with my husband, Joe and his brother & sister-in-law.  We haven't sailed on CCL since 2013.  We're looking forward to this "new" Italian style ship.

Does anyone know which nights are the formal nights are on this sailing.

    Thanks!!

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO DebNJoe:  Welcome to this cruise and cruise board.  Did sail on another Carnival ship that was originally built for another subsidiary.  Then it became part of the Carnival fleet also.

The formal nights should be the first night after the first sea day and the night before we come back to NYC.

Hi our names are Mary and David.  We got this cruise for our original Magic.  For 9-8-23 to 9-16-23..  We're from Ohio.  Maybe we'll see you on the ship.  Bye for now.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO marhar123:  Good to have you on board for this trip.  What part of Ohio are you from?  I live in NYC.  Not far from where we will be departing from.

MSC do not have craps table games.

Kind of small casino area and my personal experience was not good as Royal or Celebrity.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Love2Snorkle:  Because MSC does not have a craps table in their casino, would not consider it when planning a cruise.  And have heard from someone who went on this cruise line the casino is small.

Just got off the Majestic Princess and witnessed quite a few jackpots being paid out over the 7 days.  I came  home  with 6K after I put 1K onto my shipboard account and I only play slots and am not a max bettor.  Last cruise I did very well also and came home with quite a bit more than I went with.  Best part is being Canadian there are no taxes withheld.

My come back and play offer given to me the last night was a Free Mini Suite with Princess Plus and a nice amount of Free Play.  No way I would get that playing table games which I hate lol.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Sprocket:  Not everyone likes to play table games.  They take longer to play and you must know the different rules for each game.  My wife loved to play slots and didn't play table games.  Same with most members of her family.

  5. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Fellow cruise ship casino fans, Slot machines are terrible on cruise ships.  Very low winning percentages.  It isn't as if they are competing with other casinos.  You are a trapped audience.  It is that casino or don't play.

Learn to play table games.  You will have a better time playing, get more points for better offers, and have a better shot at winning.

Enjoying all the Subjects we are Covering in Foodies.

Interesting all the talk about food, wine, cocktail and etc... I know when wandering thru our recent liquor store I enjoy selecting our favorite wines from our favorite companies.

Came upon me to see what Wine Makers and Vineyards are the Favorites of our Cruise Critics here.

    • Brotherhood Winery, Washingtonville, New York
    • Christian Brothers located in California
    • Woodbridge
    • Robert Mondavi
    • Hess Collection
    • Beringer
    • Francis Ford Coppola

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO BklynBoy8:  Chateau Ste. Michelle is a good one.  They are from the state of Washinton.  14 Hands Winery, also from the state of Washington, is very good.  Under several brands is Charles Smith Winery.  They are very good also.  If you like wines from Italy Banfi is good.

  7. HHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO gkthorn:  This is what I have found.  Been on six cruise lines.  The lines owned by the Carnival Corp. CCL, are all interconnected.  Don't go on NCL or RCCL anymore.  You will get better deals if you go on cruise lines that are owned by the same company.  Do some research because some lines have  taken some games from the casinos that you may like.  Other than that have fun and enjoy yourselves.

I love craps and it took about an hours worth of YouTube videos to learn "bad" bets vs "good" gets. It was surprising that 90% of the bets on the craps table are considered "bad". Slots are obviously the bread and butter of the casinos. You can tell by the points they offer. They are also the least favorable odds of most things out there. I also think that the machines can be controlled for the odds. All slot machines to my knowledge have a "demo" mode before release to show the bonus rounds, etc. If they have a mechanism to do this for a demo, they have it available to tweak the odds as well.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO BoozinCroozin:  The only way to change the payouts, which include frequency, is by sending the slot back to the factory where it was manufactured at.

I was at a land based casino here in Florida and they have plexiglass partitions on all of the table games. My question is specific to the Craps tables. The Craps tables are now all electronic so  you don't handle the dice or the chips! Anybody hear how it will be handled on the ships? I sure don't want to play electronic craps as it's a machine and like the slots   the machines can be programmed for a house advantage.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO iahawkize:  First, not all hotels have Plexiglas all the tables.  Florida does not have live craps tables.  Somehow it seems to be against the state law in Florida.  Same in California.  Have seen some tables that have Plexiglas and others that don't.  Some have only three positions on the craps table that people are able to shoot from on each side of the table.  Not sure how it will be handled on cruise ships.  Some cruise lines will only allow vaccinated people on the ship.  Therefore I don't see a problem to carry on as normal.  Just extra cleaning of dice and chips.  And of course, extra cleaning of all the spaces where players leave from.  However, have also heard that might not be the case.  Hope this helps.

Let’s just say that I’m a collector, and one my hobbies is casino chips.
I’m also not talking about just single chips but enough chips to play a poker game with.

Any idea what is done with chips after the boats are sold off?

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO stavman:  One of my hobbies is to collect casino  chips also.  Some of the chips I have are from casinos that aren't in business anymore.  Have a lot of them.  Don't know what they do with the chips after the boats are sold off.  I imagine that collectors, like us, would just hang on to them.  Have quite a few chips from casinos that aren't in existence any more.

I got an offer from Blue Chip today.  Tried calling but they're closed til tomorrow morning.

Does anyone know how long these offers are good for?

The offer gave me a booking number with a cabin number, just not sure about how to confirm this offer.

    Anyone have any advice?

    Thank you,

    Eileen

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Fellow Cruiser:  Casino offers are good, however, if no one is sailing; what good is the offer?

  12. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO NutsAboutGolf:  The "they" refers to the company that is manufacturing the equipment that uses ultra violet light to clean the slot machines.  Also, company that runs the casino may require masks and gloves to stop the spread of germs.

  13. Fellow Gamblers:  Have seen some things.  Not every slot machine on the floor will necessarily be open.  They are experimenting with ultra violet light to clean slot machines.  There will be a limit on table games of number of players.  There will be more cleaning of dice, chips, and areas frequently touched by players. There will be extra hand sanitizers.  Nothing will be self serve on the ship.  Everything will be done by a crew member.

  14. Howdy Dicenator:  Thanks for doing this report.  We like Princess Cruises too.  Enjoy playing in the casino.  Their tables have an extra bounce so I try to compensate for that.  A belated Happy Birthday.  We are going on the Sky Princess next year out of Brooklyn.  Keep practicing.  Good luck in and out of Casinos.

  15. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO TNShadyLady:  Hope you spend your usual time in the casino.  Just because you spend time in the casino    doesn't mean you will always lose.  Hopefully, you play table games.  Better shot at winning.  Good luck in and out of casinos.  Hope to see you on the Mardi Gras September 24, 2020.

I am relatively new to cruise ship casinos.  I have done a lot of land based casino gaming over the years playing tables and machines.  Most recently I have been playing video poker at the $1 and $2 level.  The pay tables for Double Double Bonus is poor and Jacks or Better is even worse.  While I seem to be doing OK accruing points I have not had a winning session in many cruises. On my last cruise I tried the penny Quick Hit machines.  Money lasted longer and got my points for a comped cruise but in the end it was the same financial result, a loss.  Although, table games would seem to be the obvious solution the rate of point acculturation is very slow unless you are betting several hundred a hand or roll.

So my question is, what specific games or machines do you play?  What amount do you wager and how long do you expect to play to reach your goals?  Also, do you play to win or for comps?

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Garmy4:  All the cruise companies rate your play differently.  Casinos on board ships are basically unaccountable to any regulation.  Be sure you enjoy what you play.  I like to play craps.  It is the most friendly game in the casino.  It is the only game in the casino where on certain bets you get paid true odds.  Can you still lose, yes.  Every bet in a casino has a casino edge to it.  If you wish to have success in the casino learn the games you like well.  Know all the permutations of the game.  You will only have a 50% chance at best.  Do play Video Poker because I enjoy it.  Also play slots sometimes because my wife enjoys it.  Don't have specific goals when I play.  Winning is nice, but, like most other gamblers it is unpredictable.

  17. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Fellow Cruisers:  For those of you going to Bermuda, in the past few years the cruise line is able to purchase a special licence from the Bermudian government to be open while in port.  The casino would open at 2100 hours or 9PM.  It stays open until 0200 hours or 2 AM.  Don't know which cruise lines purchase that licence.  Was able to play on Celebrity Cruise Line.

  18. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Fellow gamblers:  We go on trips that we want to go on.  Have no interest in going someplace we don't really want to go to just because of a discounted or comped room.  Get invites for specialty restaurants, comped.  Get bottles of wine, comped.  Get stuff sent to stateroom, comped.  Lately have gotten bookings thru casino.  Discount.  Never thought of a cruise as a way of getting totally comped for doing something we like to do.

  19. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO Dicenaator, glad to see you back on the boards.  How did you like the Regal Princess?  Had a decent time on that ship and met several really nice folks on the ship.  Did okay at the craps table.  Had a couple of really long rolls.  Also, something you might want to think about, look to establish a point then sevening out.  We should discuss this privately, not on a public board.
