  1. For those that have been to Saint John, all the flooding was up-river from the Reversing Falls/Rapids. The visitors on the first 2-3 ships of the season didn’t get to see the Reversing Falls reverse as there was so much water coming downstream. However, everything is back to normal and the falls is Reversing again.

  2. There is in Saint John liquor store outlet on the opposite corner of the Loyalist House near the Old stone church and half a block uphill from the City Market. Their site anbl.ca has an inventory of what each store carries.

  3. Saint John doesn’t have regular international flights at the airport and is not cruise home-port presently, there is no immigration station in Saint John to get the stamp.

Of note with a Canadian Passport it is 36 pages, good for 5-10 years. If we run out of pages we can visit a Canadian Embassy in another country and have more pages stitched in.

  4. The maximum by-law rate is $50/hr (not per person) for a prearranged taxi rental. No taxi is allowed to charge more, also no private person can drive people in a car for hire without a taxi licence in the City of Saint John.

  5. In Saint John there are tons on banks with ATMs within blocks of the cruise terminal. King St. one of the biggest tourist draws is also our financial district with BMO, TD Bank, Scotiabank, CIBC, National Bank, and RBC all on it. The street is about 2 cruise ships long (with about 11 stories increase in elevation). There is also shopping and the Canadian classic Tim Hortons too on King St.

Also everyone will have no problem taking US cash, we all know someone who goes shopping in Maine. Most of our banks also buy/sell Sterling and Euros as well as USD. (CIBC has the best availability of foreign cash on hand.) Foreign Exchange businesses are non-existent.

  6. The park is King’s Square and the market is Saint John City Market. It is undergoing a $3 million renovation and was covered with scaffolding in 2017. Should be done in for cruise season 2018.

It is on Charlotte St or Germain St between King St and Union St.

    They have a whiskey bar?

Yes it is the “Sunset Bar” on Deck 8. It specializes on Whiskey’s. Each bar on the ship seems to have different selections.

  8. There is a freestyle dining display next to Guest Services to make reservations with all the menus. They also have people near the restaurants in the morning and signage to what the nights special theme is at the buffet.

  9. i have a bone to pick with the lighthouse signs coming back from st martin. i drove 15 min and didnt see one down that road. sigh! gave up. dont put an arrow and a lighthouse and then just leave us hanging. gps wasnt working there either. so i couldnt check things out.

Those signs are not directing you to a lighthouse they are for the “Fundy Coastal Drive”. There are no lighthouses between Saint John and St. Martins. There is a large lighthouse past Mispec Beach at the end of Red Head Rd. in Saint John called Cape Spencer.

  10. I don’t remember a whole lot of the muster drill with Philippe on the Valor in San Juan, but I remember the one with Paul on the Fantasy. I was in group F and our muster spot was in the Comedy Club for most of the announcements and then we went to the lifeboats by the rear stairs, we were only outside for about 5 minutes and got to see dolphins in Charleston Harbour.

  11. Going to take my first NCL cruise in December. Do people get seated together as a large table or do you get your own table. I have only done Carnival cruises and like meeting people at dinner and socializing.

  12. If you have an old CDMA technology phone the network is going to be shut down in Eastern (Toronto/Montreal)/Atlantic (Saint John/Halifax) in April 2018 and you will not have service. To get a Canadian provider SIM card you legally need a Canadian or French (St Pierre & Micalon) address.

  13. On my first cruise as a Blue on the Carnival Valor, I was told by a “Gold” that gold meant they could cut in front of me in the buffet line. Then this elderly couple behind me the gentleman pulled out his Diamond card and told the gold, “Diamond means I can tell you to go to the back of the line.
