  1. Most of our cruises are out of Galveston as we are local. A 1201 flight will really be pushing it. You would have to do self-assist and be one of the first people off. The fog is really unpredictable during that time of the year.

For me that would add so much stress to an end of a cruise, that it would not be worth it to me. I would hate to be all stressed out at the end of a great cruise.

  2. We took the tour in May while on the Conquest. We really enjoyed it, especially the time we spent on the bridge. We had the best view of the ocean from the bridge. We received two group pictures, one on the bridge with the captain and one from the bow next to the crew swimming pool. We also received two hats that said "Behind the Fun", two string bags, a free mimosa drink and a soap carving. Not really sure why they give away the soap carving. Also, there were snacks in the library before the tour, and snacks at the half way point in the main dinning room. The big surprise was a plate of chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in our cabin.

It was lots of fun, but also a lot of walking and going up and downstairs. Luckily, there were enough stops along the way so you can catch your breath.

  3. "Undead Marathoners on the High Seas!" Watch as a accidental below-deck combination of pizza sauce and cleaning products turn a ship load of vacationers into zombies in Reeboks. Thursday at 8:00.

You think I would need to bite the other passengers before they turn into zombies? I'm really not into biting people. But then again, after Staying up for 48 hours cleaning and eating pizza, I may just do about anything.

We will see in another 14-days. I will be sure to post an update of my experiences on the "no sleep" cruise, when I get back home.

  4. OP I don't know how this happened' date=' but people must have thought you were being literal, and the result made this an amazing thread. Pizza eating zombie soldiers running marathons while trying to help the cleaning crew could be a new hit netflix original!

In all seriousness I don't get much sleep on cruises because I want to pack in as much fun as possible. Wake up at 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM every morning for breakfast, and don't stop until 2:00 AM to 4:00 AM. The piano bar usually closes at midnight but can go longer if there is a good crowd. The comedy club usually has a late night show. The night club can stay open past 3:00 AM sometimes. Late night pizza or room service is always good. Part of what I love about being on a cruise is looking out at the ocean. If you can find a quiet part of the ship without a lot of light, the view of the stars and the water is really amazing.[/quote']

Hey great idea on the Netflix original, we should approach them with the idea. If they don't go for it, I know the SYFI channel will. They are always showing some kind of crazy B movie late at night.

  5. Y'all have given me some good ideas for my 4-day cruise.

    1. I have skills with the vacuum, so I'll help out with the late night cleaning crew.

    2. Sit by the pool at 2 in the morning, I should have best choice of seats" and I can also help "save seats" for the chair hogs as they come out at 5 AM to claim their recliners for the day.

    3. Walking around the decks of the ship as a zombie sounds super cool. This is a must do.

    4. We don't gamble and sitting in the casino breathing second hand smoke is not our idea of fun. But spending the night at the Pizzeria sounds fantastic. Of course with as fast as they are, I should be able to get at least two slices in about a six hour window.

    5. To make the trip seem like an 8-day trip I will start sleeping 12 hours a day for the next 15 days. Thanks for that great tip!

    6. Staying up for countless days in a row, would bring back memories of my glorious days in the Army. I'll bring my old uniform and boots with me to make it feel more authentic.

    7. Running a marathon on a cruise, now that's a grand idea! Problem is I may end up losing count of the laps I've taken around the small track. How many laps would I need to take to run a marathon on the ship's running track?

    8. If I stay up the entire time and take pictures of what I see. Will my pictures show fuzzy people standing around and strange creatures flying through my pictures? That in itself would be worth staying up for.

    9. I wonder if I can get away with not paying the tips as I'll be too busy staying up and won't be using my cabin. In fact, I should be refunded for the price of the cabin as I won't be sleeping in it.

Oh the bonus of staying up. if I stay up for the entire trip I'll probably be so tired and stressed out that I'll need another vacation when I get home! Cha Ching, Winner, Winner chicken dinner! I'll just be forced to take another cruise! It's a win all the way around!

  6. We are leaving on a 4-day cruise from Galveston in 16 days. Wishing now we booked a 7-day cruise, but time off work is the reason we are doing just a 4-day. So DW and I are thinking that if we stay up for the entire cruise it would feel like an 8-day cruise. Any thoughts on what we can do during the wee hours of the mornings? We are not really sure we can endure not sleeping during the cruise, but might as well give it a shot. My DW thinks we will only make it until 10:00 PM on the first night, but I have faith we can do it.

  7. I have always brought one, (11 Cruises) I just put it in my suite case. The room Stewart has never said anything to me about having one. I have never had one taken away.

I had a small issue at the Orlando port when I forgot mine at home and bought on during the port call. The security officer at the terminal stopped me and told me he did not think I could bring it on board. But his partner told him it was alright. Other than that I have had no issues.

  8. Seems like most have a favorable view as long as people use common sense. Think I'll go ahead and bring one. Even though my older teens are bagging me not to bring one. They said they would be embarrassed if I brought one. All I can say is payback is sweet. I'll just remind them of all the times they embarrassed us over the years.

  9. It's held during Tea Time, which is usually at 3:00 PM. The Tea Times are held during sea days. You don't need to sign up or anything just show up. The tables are clearly marked so you can just seat yourself or asked to be seated at the Veterans table. No need to show any proof that he is a veteran.

Please let your husband know that I greatly appreciate his service. I have great respect for the Coast Guard and worked along side of them while I was deployed to Iraq in 2007.

  10. There is very little to do in Freeport, the times we have stopped in Freeport we spent the majority of the time on the ship. There are shopping excursions but you can take a Taxi to the shopping areas. Of course, they sell pretty much the same things that all the other shops sell. There is always the usual excursions that are at most stops, but nothing really exciting. We usually spend the day on the ship and save our money for more exciting ports.

  11. We are leaving on our next cruise on Jan 7th. On previous cruises I have seen people using selfie sticks on board. I've seen some pictures people have taken with selfie sticks and the pictures seem to turn out nice.

I've been thinking of maybe getting one for this upcoming cruise. But I've notice that some places like amusement parks and sports events have a ban against them. The articles I've read never really give a clear reason why they ban them.

Also, I've heard some people make negative comments about people who use selfie sticks. Not sure why some people have negative views on selfie sticks. Does Carnival ban selfie sticks?

  12. On a number of our cruises, we have seen people show up to the breakfast buffet wearing their carnival bathrobes. We've always thought it is tacky to go through the line in a bathrobe. I'm always fearful their robe will have a "malfunction" while in line. I can only imagine that would be quite awkward for everyone involved.
