  1. We had a great day in Alesund. I’ll add photos tomorrow. When we got back on the ship, the skies were becoming partly sunny. We enjoyed a few hours at the Vibe with a bit of sunshine. The hot tubs and beautiful views of Ålesund were magical and just what we needed. This is the first time we have tried the Vibe. My husband loves it more than the Thermal Spa. We have passes booked on future cruises Viva and Joy. We love kids as we raised 5 of them and have 2 grandkids but we enjoy the peaceful environment that the Vibe offers.
  2. Dinner tonight was at The Commodore Room. We arrived after 6pm and were seated immediately. We each chose the scallop appetizer. My husband ordered the blue cheese soup whilch he said didn’t taste like blue cheese but was more of a potato and apple soup. I had the Caesar salad. He got the Cagney’s Filet with up charge and I got the Hoki which was really good.
  3. We were successful at finding Kvaefjordkake today! It was delicious! My husband liked the creamy layer and I loved the topping with almonds.
  4. The rain had stopped by this time and my husband was asking about the reindeer hot dogs I said were in Bergen. We went back to the Fish Market area where they were sold by several outdoor restaurant stands. We also went to several bakeries in the Torgallmenningen square area looking for Kvaefjordkake (World’s best cake) but didn’t find it. We will try again today in Alesund. The Torgallmenningen area had an indoor mall with several restaurants. The McDonald’s photo is for @cruiseny4life
  5. It started to rain at about this time. We paid to go inside Mariakirken (St. Mary’s Church) which was closing soon for a wedding. It is neat to think a building that is 900 years old is still being used for a wedding. This was built in the 12th century. Next, we went to Bergen Domkirken (Cathedral). We expected the Cathedral would be more elaborate but the art and wood carvings in Mariakirken were more impressive to us.
  6. Next, we saw the wooden buildings and read about the history in the Bryggen area. We weren’t as smart as @Ellis1138 who went immediately after disembarking as when we went to attempt to go up to Mount Floyen on the Funicular, the line stretched all the way down the street and we weren’t willing to wait. One street was being reconstructed with the traditional cobblestones.
  7. Next, we went to the Bergenhus Fortress and we paid to go in Rosenkrantz Tower which was estimated to have been built in the 1560’s. There are 110 step steps up and down in mostly circular staircases. This should not be attempted by anyone with mobility concerns. The rooms in the tower had minimal furniture. There were signs in each room with descriptions in English. There was a chapel in the tower with stained glass windows. The top floors were damaged when a ship docked near the tower exploded in 1944. Views from the top of the tower.
  8. The day in Bergen started out nice with partly cloudy skies but then got windy and it rained on and off the rest of the day. Photos of arrival in Bergen. Walking toward the Bryggen area. We started the tour on our own at the Bergen Fish Market.
  9. Thank you. The tour started at the Amsterdam cruise terminal and ended at a dock near the cruise terminal. Have a wonderful cruise!
  10. Ocean Music Fest in “Prima Club” works well when it is cold and rainy outside. Love how they can push the theater seats back but not all seats fo have a dance floor. It is packed in here at 10:35pm local time.
  11. Tonight after our dinner in Le Bistro and as we were enjoying listening to Juci Del Carlo who plays guitar in Metropolitan bar, a person from shore excursions and assistant executive housekeeping staff member in uniform and with name tags asked if we would answer a few questions. They asked if there was anything that could be improved on the cruise. Since we initially thought they were asking about housekeeping and shore excursions, we raved about the excellent service we were receiving from our cabin steward, Marti. They asked if anything could be improved. We mentioned the new recipe potatoes with the filet at Le Bistro should go back to the old recipe. They asked if anything else could be improved. We said we were getting excellent service at all bars and restaurants and couldn’t think of anything. As they left after asking for our cabin number, my husband watched to see if they were asking anyone else these questions but they did not. This seemed really strange.
  12. This was in Amsterdam and were a blast to the past. Anyone else remember these cloth towel devices in restrooms many years ago.
  13. We had a great day in Bergen. I’ll post those photos tomorrow. Here are photos from our dinner at Le Bistro tonight. My husband and I ordered the same items. Escargot, Goat cheese croquette salad and the filet minus the foie gras and minus the previous up charge. We did not care for the new potatoes that came with the filet. Were they au gratin potatoes or something else?
  14. Last night we had dinner at Indulge. Thank you @mking8288 for letting us know the dinner menu was different than the lunch menu. We couldn’t get the option to order drinks working and had to go the bar. The same thing happened to us for lunch a few days ago. So if you are going to Indulge, get your drinks first or your food will get cold as it gets delivered so fast after ordering. We shared Pesto Gnocchi, fried green tomatoes, bacon wrapped chicken and deviled eggs I missed getting a photo of pork ribs my husband ordered. He also got a bread with crab but he said it wasn’t very good.
  15. More photos of the drive to and from Dalsnibba Mountain The warm cinnamon roll at the top of Mount Dalsnibba was delicious! There is a lake just below the top of Mount Dalsnibba that has a small glacier.
  16. We had such a beautiful day in Geiranger yesterday. It was definitely a highlight of the cruise so far. We were told Geiranger may stop allowing cruise ships beginning two years from now. The cruise through the fjord was better than any excursion. Here are photos from the bus ride and excursion up to Dalsnibba Mountain. The first few photos show Prima when we were at about 1000 feet, 2000 feet and 4700 feet where it looks
  17. Current situation. Whiskey Bar as we travel out of the beautiful fjord. We can hear Duo Rika singing country songs from the atrium. For some reason, it sounds really loud tonight. Drinks are Matador and Buffalo Trace. Our excursion and several other buses got back at 7:15pm when all aboard was at 7:00pm. We didn’t hear any names called. Will add those photos tomorrow. I tried to get more photos of the officers but that screen was being used to direct passengers where to go to disembark. When we got back on, it was being updated.
  18. In Geiranger, we walked up the hill past the church to the waterfalls. We took the stairs down and are back on the ship before our excursion. Temperature is now 72 degrees. We weren’t able to get our tour to Dalsnibba Mountain and Eagle Road moved to an earlier time as they were full. With it being so nice outside we are bummed we can’t hang out at the Vibe but don’t want to miss seeing Dalsnibba Mountain.
  19. Current views in the fjord. So many beautiful waterfalls. The captain announced the ship would do a 360 turn so everyone could get good views of the Seven sisters waterfalls.
  20. We ended the day with an NCL excursion of the Amsterdam waterways one hour tour. It was about $8 per person with our $50 shore excursion credit (for both of us with P+) and Latitudes discount. Anne Frank house. Some said they got tickets by getting up 30 days prior at 4am and tickets sell out in a few minutes. General views. People swimming and hanging out on the pier. See the Prima.
