  1. Day 3 Ocean Cay

Took the Yacht Club transportation to the Ocean House.  The pickup area is designated by the white canopies to the right as soon as you get past the gates on the island.

We saw some lemon sharks in the lagoon by the bridge along the way.  North beach was closed to swimming so by the time we walked back to South beach, put on our snorkel gear, and swam out to the bridge the sharks were gone.   The lifeguards then came and directed us away from the channel.  We tried looking for the nurse sharks and sea turtle in the lagoon but the water was too cloudy to see very far.  FAF13068-0D9F-45D7-BD6A-716ABF2E1D87.thumb.jpeg.c15ce8282b294c1ea5e6e932d9bacced.jpeg2CB9741B-91A3-4FD3-AC16-42D9C17A354E.thumb.jpeg.4dd9e8556c323cfce19534ac413677fe.jpeg9361AE32-2760-4DD2-AB57-37A41FE3C993.thumb.jpeg.36bee4211e7772ccb218d67bd64f8904.jpegE0D87CF5-2982-4C92-9376-AC59A928FB81.thumb.jpeg.21ec8cb9ece097fbfaab2df4aed028fc.jpeg

  2. Day 3 - Breakfast at LeMuse

We didn’t realize until now but if there is a particular menu item that you like you can ask for it at any time and they will try their best to get it for you.

Last night Pam fell in love with the Parisian potatoes that were served with her sea bass entree.  She asked the waiter if this was something that could be requested.   He checked with the chef and, sure enough, they brought them to her for breakfast!  011E06DD-4963-4035-94E9-8E05B58D1779.jpeg.d6c0a3b020167210f846dbf11a43c1cc.jpeg

  3. Day 2 Ocean Cay Lighthouse show.

Almost exactly like our last visit to Ocean Cay in 2019, the Lighthouse show was delayed for 1 hour due to technical issues.  Many of us were already sitting on the beach at 8PM before they announced the delay.

We were thankful for the fire pits they had set up and enjoyed some conversation with fellow cruisers while waiting for the show.

Much to our surprise even after they got the show started it only lasted 5 minutes.  8512BFFA-BE9B-40EE-9085-2D1BA6FE0B7E.thumb.jpeg.34ce6006ec50016527df38eb45c808ec.jpeg52C517E0-5521-4FF5-8F2F-7B954E0FB264.thumb.jpeg.dba3e31f5309bf5a1f517a0c36c7ed0a.jpeg38902801-641E-4BB0-BF88-507818E08389.thumb.jpeg.ef2538eb5aa8094f25ff468742c4ba87.jpegB9BB3FF7-105E-4033-B2CF-364615CB32CA.thumb.jpeg.dad93b1881fef8e81bee0ecbf92b26a9.jpeg

  4. Was a little cloudy this afternoon which made the air feel quite cool.  But we still went ahead and snorkeled at Lighthouse Bay.   There were lots of small fish and some huge empty conch shells on the seabed.

We heard that there were some large rays in the water on the other side of the bay which we hope to see tomorrow!  Also we are planning to snorkel in the lagoon to see the sea turtle.

The MDR menus are posted after the last meal period, so after breakfast they will post lunch IF they are serving MDR lunch (which they don't while at Ocean Cay, for example), so they will skip to Dinner.

Alternately, the whole cruise's menus have been pre-planned so if you want you can see all of them when you board and know which day of the week they will be served.  The Maitre D' on day 1 can help.  (This also informs when to book a specialty restaurant, for example)

Wow!  Never knew about being able to see the entire week’s menus in advance!

And in typical MSC style they noticed that there were lots of people waiting on the deck to see the lighthouse show and it's going to be at 9 not 8 LOL

Yeah that was a little irritating.  The exact same thing happened to us the last time we were here on Meraviglia in Dec ‘19.   “Technical issues” delayed the first show by 1 hour.   But they still did two shows and it was much longer.

  7. Our cabin, a YC 1 Yacht Club Deluxe Suite on deck 15 on the port side of the ship.

We like the bathroom layout with the tub/shower combo and marble vanity.

The walk-in closet has a good amount of space with a very large safe.  The additional storage in the hallway closet is perfect for grab and go items.  Our over the door shoe organizer fit perfect on the closet door.

The walls in the hall outside the bathroom are metal so magnetic hooks work great for our smaller things.

The bed has plenty of space underneath for our empty luggage.

  8. MSC Yacht Club bracelets for Ocean Cay access.  Our butler brought them to our cabin.

Apparently these are just silicone bracelets and do not have any of the functionality that they do on the newer ships like Seaside and Meraviglia.

These bracelets are much more difficult to put on than the ones from the other ships as far as I can remember.

Curious where they are doing the trivia.  Seaside used to do it on the Plaza Grande, but that was a bit noisy.  The Seashore equivalent would be Times Square, I assume.

On Divina they do it at the Jazz Lounge.  So they use a smallish LCD TV that is mounted on the left side of the stage to show the images.   Most people had to get up and walk to the TV in order to see the photos.

We spent tons of time by the YC pool area. Very quiet and relaxing with so few guests, but with only 500 people the whole ship should be pretty quiet.

It is strange walking down the shops and lounges on decks 6 and 7 and passing by more crewmembers than passengers.

Many bars and lounges are completely empty.

  11. Day 1 - Theater Performance “Simply The Best”

This show as comprised of a medley of musical selections of past popular hits.

They only offered a single showtime at 7:45.  The theater was nowhere near capacity even with the mandatory social distancing. We arrived at 7:30 and were able to score seats near the center about 4 or 5 rows back.

While this show may not quite be to the scale of the shows they had in the past we still enjoyed the performance overallB157C724-DDE9-4637-8356-DD968AD31894.thumb.jpeg.d703aade52a6258b55b7b904c2be0bdd.jpeg

  12. The new post pandemic in-cabin video muster drill is something I can really get used to!

We watched the video at 5 PM, dialed the number they instructed us to from our cabin phone,  and then headed down to our muster station to have our keycards scanned.  Simple, short, and stress free.F14E8180-1E21-4165-BC1B-BAE03A0871FA.thumb.jpeg.145554a5c70684b08a62506b4ee20fee.jpeg
