Thanks, I found it. Marlyne

I was reading in the DK Eyewitness guidebook for Stockholm. It says "Near Bastugatan an attractive promenade, Monteliusvagen, has been built along the rocks edge." I entered it in google maps and it could not find it. Can you tell me anything about it including how to instruct a taxi driver to take me there? We would like to get a picture taken higher than the water's edge on that side of Sodermalm. Thanks. Marlyne

Do the Royal Palace and the town hall tower take a credit card? Thanks. Marlyne

That would be awful. We were docked there when we were on our last Baltic cruise. Besides wasting time in travel, you miss the archipelago.
We did take the train. On the Baltic ports, if you do a search, there is extensive information on how to catch the train.

Are pedestrians allowed to walk across the Centralban from Sodermalm to Ridderholmen? Thanks. Marlyne

You have to be logged in and then you can design your own maps with adding lines and other information. The information how to do it will be there once you start "design a new map".
I have logged into Google Maps, but I don't see anything that says "design your own maps." Can you give any more help? Thanks. Marlyne

Super! An experienced Stockholm visitor that is back to see the real deal - congrats. Fjällgatan and Mariaberget and those areas of Södermalm are well worth a visit. Since you have been here before and seen all the "must sees" you can see Skansen too. I don't usually recommend Skansen to cruisers just becuase of the limited time they have, but if you have not been there and the weather is nice I would go, but take your time.
Have a great time
Al
I have not done a quote before, so I hope this turns out OK. Would it be best to take a cab to Fjallgatan and Mariaberget? If not, please suggest a route. I don't want to use all my footpower getting to the destination. Thanks. Marlyne

For years, I have been fascinated by the picture in Storkyrkan of the light phenomenon in 1535. A few years ago, my husband took a picture of it (he has a great camera), blew it up and framed it for a Christmas present. I love it. In that picture, the gates and some wall are shown.
We have been to Skansen and enjoyed it. We thought exploring a new area, for us, would be fun. We were actually planning to come to Sodermalm before I learned that our ship was docking there. Thanks for everyone's information. Marlyne

Are any of the gates or walls from the 1500's still around? Marlyne

Al, Thanks. I did finally figure out that it is the Baltic and further in is Lake Maleren. I want to walk along Fjallgatan to see the architecture and also walk or taxi to the Mariaberget area to see the architecture and the views then back down to the HOHO boat. We may spend a couple of hours in this area. Do you think these are good places to spend a little time? This is our fourth time in Stockholm. On our first trip we were on a land tour and stayed four nights, so we have seen most of the traditional tourist places. We love Gamla Stan and plan to spend several hours there. Marlyne

Al, I will definitely take your advice. Does the walkway along the river go all the way to the west of the island? How far is it from the Stadsgarden 167 to the Slussen Hilton? Is it a pleasant walk? Thanks. Marlyne

Al Frescoe, I am sorry. I sure thought I read it thouroughly. But I must have skimmed part of it. Thanks again. Marlyne

Yes, the tutorial was great. I am interested in more detail on the rooftop tour too. M

I just learned that we are docking at Stadsgarden 167. Is there a walkway all along the river to the west end of the Island? Thanks. Marlyne

Thanks for the article. My question is whether there are taxis at the dock. Marlyne

Are there generally taxi's at the dock? We will be at Frihamnen. We want to go to Sodermalm. I have taken note of websites where I can reserve one in advance. Thanks. Marlyne
Do you need advice about Stockholm?

I understand there is a ferry that goes from Slussen to Skeppsholmen. It had one other stop. Could you point me to a website with schedule. I had been interested in the HOHO, but it doesn't pick up very early. I'd like to be on it between 830 and 9. If not we will do our Sodermalm tour first. Thanks. Marlyne
