For those of you that sailed last year -- can you report if there was a Mardi Gras celebration?
-
Seems they always show the newest Pixar movie on board for families in the theatre - anyone sailed recently and know what the feature Movie is? Coco?

Our family of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids - 14,11,11,8) are booking a private tour in St Martin for the day. Bernard is $480 and Joyce is $400. Both include drinks along the way - I believe Bernard is 6 hrs, Joyce 5 hrs.
Any personal experience that would help me choose one over the other?

Anyone know what kind of sale might be offered Labor Day weekend? Price is higher than I'd like to pay at the moment. Thanks in advance.

Just booked Oasis 2018 -- it was $500 less than it was on Monday. And less than what I paid for Oasis earlier this year.
Rep on the phone said that C&A balcony discount was not combinable with the extra onboard credit. But with the Boardwalk Balcony we did get a lunch at Johnny Rockets, 2 soda packages and a family rock climbing session.
My 11 yr old was Free with the kids sail free.

Same breakfast menu as main dining room. Nothing special except the characters are all available. I think it was about an hour and a half maybe?

I have to say I was worried to, but our experience was supper smooth.
1. No carnival ship.
2. We did not have a suite. We were in the general line.
3. We opted for the early walk off time. This requires extra effort on your behalf. You are responsible for bringing all your luggage with you. I suggest packing only what you need. And a good set of rolling luggage. On the morning of disembarkation, get to the waiting area as early as possible. This will get you a better spot in the line. Confirm the night before where the waiting area is. It was a slight pain for us due to it being in the main dinning room. Required us to zig zag around chairs and tables. But worth it. We walked off and through customs in less the 20 min! We were so early that we had to wait longer for our shuttle then it took to get off the sip.
4. If your worried about the rental car, you might want to consider a hurtle. Roughly the same price. Plus you don't need to drop off/return anything. We utilized Cool Ours LLC An enjoyable driver both ways! Pleasant, professional. He took us to a liquor store for our water and 2 win bottle limit. We had the entire 10 passenger van to ourselves both ways!
I'd be more concerned with the length of the TSA lines. That's going to be your hang up. There's nothing you can do unless you have a young child with you. That's the ticket to get through the shorter line. :-)
Relax and enjoy the trip! I advise getting to Galveston a day early. It's a nice port town to explore.
Cheers!

We saw Kung FU Panda 3 on Oasis first week in Feb (opening weekend)!

Can someone remind me the best place to eat lunch on day 1 when you first board. I remember reading to stay away from windjammer but forget where to go?

Thinking of booking Peat Taylor to do the combo rafting and blue hole excursion, quoted at $60 per person. I assume this includes transportation from the ship to the excursion sites? Are there any other fees I should know about, I heard you have to tip the guides at blue hole?
Has anyone done this combo tour before? How long did it last, we are in port from 9am to 5pm. Do most people grab lunch afterwards and then maybe hit up a local/nearby beach?
Thanks!
Interested in this info as well…tried to get a quote from Courtney Taylor and no one has responded!

I guess I just don't understand.
You're wanting child rearing advice from complete strangers in a public forum?
Really?
Just trying to make informed choices as we make our own plan for managing our child. It does not hurt to hear others experiences who have already been through it.
But thanks for your opinion.

Our oldest is 12 and we are going on the Oasis soon. On our previous cruises we checked him in and out of the kids club - but now that he's 12 he moves up to the teen club where he will have the ability to come and go as he pleases.
I've read a few threads on the teen club and Oasis, but not much about how to manage a pre-teen who is entering that new territory.
So I'm wondering:
- How did you check in with them throughout the cruise?
- When/where did they meet the friends they spent time with?
- Did your 12 yr old spend more time with the friends they met or the family?
- Any tips or tricks?
I'm a wee bit nervous about giving him all that freedom. Our intention is to continually check in with him throughout the day and that he would not have free run of the ship and/or cabin. Just wanting to gather some experienced thoughts on ground rules and expectations.
- How did you check in with them throughout the cruise?

Should be pre-booking entertainment silly autocorrect ... It won't let me edit the title!

First time on Oasis so I've never pre-booked shows before. I googled a recent set of cruise compass for our itinerary to make sure not to book over some of our ship favorites (ie Love and Marriage show)...any other tips I should consider when booking days/times?

It does list a number of cruiselines (most of them) and then has a little disclaimer that basically says may not be valid on all. Really helpful! Not!
correct!! http://www.spafinder.com/Cruise-Ship-Spas.htm
I know I've seen the sign on Freedom and on Serenade, but I don't think I asked about using a gift card. I'm not sure how it would even work because everything is charged to your cabin account.
But it seems like - why would they even both with spa finder then if you can't?
-
I've noticed a spafinder sign onboard at the spa - has anyone been successful at using a spafinder gift card at an onboard spa?

We sailed over Halloween in 2013 -- trick or treating for the kids (my kids were with us), Halloween parade, Halloween costume dance party, pumpkin carving and decorations.

I cruised at 20 weeks pregnant (many years ago)...we were out of LA though, and seas were very rough. I got horribly sea sick as soon as we passed the port breaker walls. I did get approval to take Bonine from my dr beforehand, but didn't want to take it unless totally necessary. It was, and once I got it in my system I felt better and was fine for the rest of the week.

I have booked 4 cruises in the last 2 years, one through a travel agent, the others direct with RC and in both cases my card was charge on final payment day -- not sure how it's supposed to work, I suppose I will be sure my payment gets made when my final payment day comes up here in a few weeks.
-
I have never actively made a final payment, they have charged my card on file.
-
We are on the same week and on deck 10 also!!

My experience is with ages 6+, not sure what the rules are on the preschool and younger clubs.
Which Private Tour? Bernard or Joyce
in St. Martin/St. Maarten

We ended up going with Bernard - had a great time - but still lots of devastation there. I’m sure you can’t go wrong with either. Headed back next year so please post how your experience with joyce was!
