  1. This was the price listed on the website. It was after final payment.

The price of the suite has dropped many many times before i decided to jump in. I have been watching that everyday since final payment.

At this time, I believed the price was at the bottom and i guessed right because after my upgrade it never went lower and soon became sold out.

When i booked the balcony, the promotion was UDP and UBP free for oceanview and higher (europe cruise) and at that time suite also get $300 OBC. So I got the $300 OBC when i upgraded to suite (because I kept the same promo).

  2. I booked a balcony on my next cruise.

Than cancelled and rebook a balcony again to get UBP and UDP promo.

    Then price dropped.

Then was able to get a minisuite upgrade for free.

    Then price dropped again.

Then i paid $1000 ($500 p/p) to upgrade in one of the last suite available AND I also got $300 OBC so the price of the upgrade is in fact $700 ($350 p/p) and this is for a B2B 21 days cruise.

    I think i made a pretty good deal :D

  3. If you are interested in spa passes, you can request them in advance.

They will not bill it until you board.

Concierge confirmed they had been secured when we boarded.

I will be on the Jade. From what i have read the Spa area for co-ed on the Jade is limited to only tile loungers and an hydrotherapy small pool. I don't think there is any hot tub there to be together with my wife.:(

    Correct me if i'm wrong.

Also do you know if there is already blankets (throws) to use on the balcony for cold evening or if i should ask for it ?

  4. Oh i forgot to say that if you cancel, you don't even have to ask for refund the prepaid DSC, it is automatic ! I Know, I did cancel one with prepaid DSC, prepaid shore excursion and prepaid OBC etc... Everything was quickly refunded (7 business days).:o

I prepaid all of these because of the better exchange rate. But i cancelled and rebook to get UDP and UBP :D

  5. There is an advantage of prepaying DSC for canadians because if you book in $CA you prepay DSC in $CA. If you pay onboard you will be charged in $US.

The NCL exchange rate is blocked when you book. I have two cruise at 7.5% exchange rate and one at 16.3% while the current exchange rate is around 28%. I save money if i prepay DSC except if the exchange rate would drop lower to what it was when i booked.

My DSC would be 15.36$CA(28%) if i pay onboard while it is actually 12.90$CA (7.5%) or 13.95$CA (16.3%) if i prepay.

  6. No, the butlers and the concierge are NOT eligible for the pay/incentive programs that are supported (funded) by the service charge. The main reason for their exclusion is that they don't provide service to ALL guests on the voyage (only to Suite guests).

Well, i think that my balcony stewart won't provide service to ALL guests either.

Anyway, in my case the service charge is already prepaid, no questions asked. And i will add gratuity on top of that if i think he deserves it. :)

But i didn't see anything on NCL.com that clearly says that butler and concierge are excluded and i'm just curious about that.

  7. What about Tipping?

Guests should not feel obliged to offer a gratuity
    for good service
. However, all of our staff are encouraged to "go the extra mile," and so they are permitted to accept cash gratuities entirely at the discretion of our guests who wish to acknowledge particular staff members
    for exceptional or outstanding service
    .

I understand that "good service" is included in the service charge while "exceptional or outstanding service" should deserve a gratuity. Right ?

I also found this on the guest ticket contract where you can read :

© Service Charges: Certain members of Carrier’s crew are compensated by a combination of salary and incentive programs that are funded in part by the service charge paid by each Guest. The charge, which is automatically added to your onboard account and subject to adjustment at your discretion, is intended to reward service provided in all departments and job categories and is distributed to employees according to Carrier's evaluation of job performance. A portion of the service charge collected by Carrier is also used for fleet-wide crew welfare programs.

I have read on this forum that butler and concierge are not included in the basic service charge. But does this means they are included ?

If they are, the same rule could apply (good service included, exceptionnal service = tip).

No I'm not booked in a suite on my next cruise, i'm just wondering.

  8. Good grief! You guys are competing for furthest out booked cruise. I couldn't ever wait that long...

    34 Days and Counting DOWN!!!

Apr 28 2018 hawaii cruise is available to book on NCL.com that would be near 1200 days !:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Anyone who book this one will win !:p

  9. I just booked for march 2017 NCL SUN 813 days to go !

NCL canadian$ price was only 7.5 % over US$ price. While today my bank charge me 1.19CA$ for 1 US$. Can't beat NCL exchange rate and i got free UBP too. I didn't want to wait until they increase their exchange rate.:D

Oups ! :( sorry we changed our mind, we canceled this one and booked a 2017 new year family cruise in caribbean instead. Planes were too expensive to get to south america .

But i'm still 741 days to go on that one. :D

  10. I think I just booked a B2B the furthest out in advance in history! The Gem, NYC - San Juan, then San Juan - San Juan 10/15-23 then 10/23-30. 2016! Between our CAS pricing and the current OBC/UBP/UDP promo, we got the DOS for less than staying home. Unless you factor in my husband's gambling.

Has anyone else booked 666 days in advance? At least we have a bunch before then. :D

  11. yes buy on the Turkey leg-they definitely count as 2 separate cruises but have the advantage you can stay on the ship changeover day if you want to-no need to disembark unless you want to sightsee in Venice

I think that it is not fair and should not work like this because I purchased a 21 days cruise not 2 different cruises....

But I guess i have no choice so it is good to know ! I plan to buy enough wine with the viva vino package on the first leg (Turkey) of my cruise so i will not need to buy anymore on the second leg (EU) of the cruise.

  12. I do agree that with slower steaming speeds, the ability to produce water is reduced, so this leads to more shore water bunkering.

I'm wondering how safe is fresh water from shore water bunkering ? Is it what we drink onboard without any purification ? Do they have any quality control ?

  13. Here's the second week. I've labeled them Days 8-14 as that's that they were for us.

Hi, i will make my first cruise ever on the Jade March 2015. It will be a back to back 21 days cruise from Rome. I would like to know if you must disembark between your 2 cruises and if you can leave your luggage in the room.

    Thank you
